Viltrox 33mm f/1.4 for Sony A7IV and Sony A7SIII

So when considering getting a full frame camera like the A7Siii and the A7iv you have to also take into account the price of full frame lenses as they can get expensive FAST, and while yes you can use an E-Mount APSC lens on a full frame they can still get pricey. Today we're looking at a 33mm f/1.4 lens from Viltrox, is it good? does it work well on full frame cameras? Yes and Yes and it's definitely priced right.

Yes a prime f/1.4 lens for that price is great considering it’s an all metal build. The A7IV is a great camera as a hybrid video/photo camera but the A7Siii is still my favorite :)

On the A7IV, you can use Super35 mode to get the APS-C crop. Bokehlicious, nice lens ! THey have 23/33/56mm f1.4, surprisingly cheap. I might just ditch the Tamron 17-28 for the 23 or 33

@@WORTHITORNOT I stole that word from Kai W :) If you do a direct A/B of image quality between the A7IV and A7S3, most of the time the A7IVwins because of the the huge downsampling from 7K resulting in greater detail, except where rolling shutter comes into play. It's even visible on 4K UA-cam uploads. But the 7S3 shines in slowmo and rolling shutter. But that's why Super35 is an awesome option for APS-C lenses with the resolution of A7IV, which still downsamples from 4.8k in that mode.

I just ordered the Sony a7iV. It's expensive but will be a good investment. I'm mainly trying to go for youtube content, some street photography and vlogging.
I have a budget of 800$ to spend on a lens. Would you recommend to go for a sony 20mm or but two viltrox lenses instead? (The 85mm and 13mm) thank you
I bought mine with the kit lens which in my opinion is a great lens, it's 28-70 and works well in low light and if you want a wider look, you can always get the Viltrox 13mm. Here's my low light testing with the kit lens on the A7IV: ua-cam.com/video/OvbH3bjVLDE/v-deo.html

Nice that you can update the lens firmware, never heard of this lens before as I was looking at Tamron or Sigma for my Alpha 74

They both work well, but if for strictly video I would say the A7Siii as the A7iv is more photo centric but still takes great video also. Thanks for watching Bob !

The A7IV is a super solid camera and definitely a hybrid camera leaning more to the photo side but still great at video and Viltrox makes very good lenses. Thanks for watching !
