Dean Morris did an amazing acting job in this scene. You can see the anger. The hurt. The feeling of betrayal. Hes looking at a man that he once loved and now wants nothing more than to bury him. Didnt even need alot of dialog. His eyes tell the story. Just an amazing performance
I saw him first as "Paul Scanlon", brother of police detective, "Lee Scanlon", in the Medium tv series. He was great there, too. Didn't see Breaking Bad until just a few years ago, so I already recognized Dean Morris when I saw him in BB. Very similar characters.
To repeat something I've written before: It's fun rewatching both Breaking Bad & Better Call Saul, but trying to see the series through the point of view of Gus or Hank. Gus spent decades building up the perfect meth empire that was ruined in a little over a year by Walt who got him killed, & Hank worked his way up the DEA trying to bring down a meth empire that ended up being ran by his brother in law Walt who also got him killed.
And yet, he did more damage to the cartel and the drug industry as a whole than they both combined, something they strived to achieve their entire life.
Don’t know why Hank is so mad at Walt and thinks he was Heisenberg all along as he clearly explained to him that he runs a car wash. He even swore to God with his right hand
3:11 I love that little look he does where he goes from the sympathetic chemistry teacher Walter White into Heisenberg when he can't shape reality how he wants.
That "I don't know who you are, I don't even know who I'm talking to" was a powerful moment where for the first and maybe only moment we see Hank show vulnerability to fear. It showed and with Walts life being threatened time after time and pulling out his own threats to his opposers who are ready to end him. He sees Hanks moment of fear and decides to make opportunity of his weakness of pulling out his own threat.
I remember watching this with my friend and younger brother when it aired, and our friends jaw was dropped. He said "Woah dude, sh*t just got real". And it really solidified that moment for me. He was tragically taken away from us just before the finale. But I'll never forget him.
I forgot the expression and acting homie did as Hank. It’s such a great show with unbelievable performances from the whole cast. Hank didn’t just see Walt as family, but as his brother and best friend basically. I can’t imagine the rage, pain and hurt one would feel if one were in his shoes. This was such a great scene.
Hank was just disappointed in himself. That's why he so angry in this scene. He always underestimated Walt. Saw him as old moron. But this old moron tricked him.
Dude is only mad he was outsmarted by a dude he routinely looked down on and was convinced was stupid and unworthy of respect. He got what he had coming to him.
true bc if he didn’t think all that stuff about Walt - and assume he was “better” than walt - he would have suspected him sooner. i wouldn’t say he “deserved what’s coming to him” - but it was his ego was his achilles heel.
he boasted openly about all his bad ass moments just to have public enemy #1 be the dude he talked shit to the most in his own family. The fact he ended up in the situation he did, is on him. He was no hero himself, covering for his love to steal wife. Crime is crime and in the dangerous world of meth, you can't be a clown. He was at the center of the circus.
Walter goes from playing innocent. When Hank doesn’t fall for it, he goes for sympathy (my cancer’s back). When that still doesn’t work (Good, rot you son of a bitch), then he just flat out threatens him. Heisenberg.
I don't know why but when Walt says "You ok? Gotta say I don't like the way you're looking at me right now?" It seems straight out of some Skyrim NPC dialogue 😂
Hank tells Walt to bring the kids over and you just see in his eyes the instant Heisenberg comes to the surface. Such incredible acting from both of them here
The change in facial expression when Hank brings up Skyler and the kids is perfection. How you can visually see Walter embrace the Heisenberg persona to send a strong message to Hank to back off all with minimal yet significant facial change is brilliant acting.
All jokes aside, this is some crazy good acting from Dean Noriss. He conveyed his realisation perfectly, you can see the more remembers the clues the more stunlocked he gets, to the point where he can hardly speak.
Man, this is one TV show moment I wish I could have seen live as it aired, after watching the show week to week. Binging it and reaching this point was just like “oh cool, this is the part where he confronts him, ok.”
It looked like all happiness drained from Hank when he found out Walt was Heisenberg, the eyes like he hadn't slept since he found the book, the weight loss, the stubble. UGH So Good!
One of my favorite shows All-Time but can’t lie this reveal fell a little short for me after all the build up. Hank just threw Walt around like a child and could have killed Walt with his bare hands right there so Walt telling him to tread lightly seemed unrealistic to me. Would have been much better if Walt approached him as Heisenberg hat and all strapped and in control then told him to tread lightly! Missed an opportunity here.
Hank can't kill him without legal repercussions, plus he's too whitehat to take it that far. Whereas Walt is capable of anything since he's unrestrained, blackhat.
Unfortunately, the awkward moment where Hank has to open the garage door to let Walter out is not shown
Hank punched off his glasses, Walt has to find those too
I think he let him out through the kitchen door after offering him an ice pack and a warm glass of milk.
I was thinking the exact same thing.
I hate this about general movies

Totally dig this - it's exactly as you say
He was only hurt because he learned that the mild little man he always lorded it over was in reality more powerful than Hank was, himself.
Best show ever
@quaddamage7765 I must agree
Hank this is old news, I told you ages ago, remember? "You got me", "half a million in cash". You think I'd keep something like this from you? Cmon!

One of the greatest if not THE greatest show ever made...
By far THE greatest
When he puts the gravel in his voice on the tread lightly. That's some first class menacing gear change.
One of the baddest lines in television history
