Wish these kind of shows were still on. Family night! Pure entertainment. Both class acts. Cher is an icon.
Variety programs - they were the best! Carol Burnett, Dean Martin, Glen Campbell, Andy Williams, The Smothers Brothers, etc, etc
Some jokes, a few skits, singing and dancing - all of it very entertaining!
I wish they were also, they were cheery and wholesome. I have great memories watching them with family.
I for one am very grateful they aren't
Cher is an icon I agree, her best work is as A Mother of course, her children are Cher's best efforts on Earth, but her career is a nonstop force also. Great legend of talent and uplifting glee to so many. Winning choices Cher made to always be current, loved, and precious to us. Blessings for her true beauty as a woman of real power of joy and of energy on Earth. Thanks for the goodness.
Yes like Red Skelton. You would start laughing because he was laughing and he didn't know what he was laughing about.
Those outfits are awesome! A character in themselves. Cher is legendary and the Osmonds singing so underrated.
They are probably by Bob Mackie, who designed costumes for Cher in her professional life, as well as gowns for events she attended. Massively talented man.
I love the outfits too! Great colour scheme.
@@k.s.k.7721 They should do a throw back night and wear these outfits one more time and shoot a performance like this again just a 70s thought
Why are they underrated? Have you heard anyone badmouth them in any way or do you just think they are underrated as they are mentioned less often than Elvis and the Beatles?
@@Evilkingus How old are you? Do some research and you will answer your own question.
The fact their all their costumes were matched and very adorably glittery to add community showmanship with no "one ego" trying to dominate it for themselves was such a nice wholesome approach
Oh was that it. I highly doubt it.
Why are they dressed like the whitest marching band ever? VANILLA ICE gas more soul than this....
Gay costume designers.
Bob Mackie designed for Cher, he might have done these.
This was one of the advices they got from Elvis Presley.
The sweetness and innocence of yesteryear that us older folks miss so much!
That’s because we were kids and didn’t have responsibilities. I liked those days but the 70’s were far from innocent-they were pretty seedy. I think another difference is that the TV shows we saw kept the seedy side out of our homes.
@@mhmorris2018 Wow, you're the only one not wearing rose colored glasses. :)
@@mhmorris2018 "I think another difference is that the TV shows we saw kept the seedy side out of our homes." And that's the whole point isn't it? The seediness may have existed but most people weren't aware of it.
@@mhmorris2018as it should. Everyone is whining about everything today! They need to get a job and get over it!!
Likely the only group that didn’t show up with a suitcase full of cocaine 😂
My 14-yr-old son just said, "This is the most 70s thing I've EVER seen!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Show him some episodes of Charlie’s Angels, many of them here on you tube. He will like those.
@@mountainman4859 He's already a fan!
I think your son is spot on there!
Ha..!!
I don't remember the '70s ever looking this '70s... 😅
Just watched Cher perform with the Jackson 5 so, of course I have to watch her with The Osmonds!
She performed w Tom Jones on his show it’s. On you tube 😊
When we were in school there was a class that was called home economics and at the end you had to serve a dinner to the parents and you had to give a fashion show during this dinner that you had prepared and served, modeling the outfit that you had sewn.A bunch of us girls wanted to sew the same thing cuz it was what Cher was wearing at that time and so the compromise was she let us all sew things that were Cher's style but they had to be the pants suits with no midriff showing ✌️🤔🤣😂(after a long discussion we finally came to that conclusion cuz mainly we were just lucky to be get away with sewing pants not dresses we were all supposed to sew jumpers or dresses.... I don't even think they use the word jumpers anymore for that kind of clothing.
If you were a fan of the Sonny and Cher show that Cher show the Bobby Goldsboro show any of these shows that were showcasing new pop talent along with the hilarious but yet kind of cool choreography ✌️
We all got really good grades we all did great. And every one of us were our outfits around school because we all had one of a kind outfits that couldn't be bought anywhere.
Was just telling somebody the other day about how TV was a big deal and everyone gathered around it to watch one thing and you could go to school and talk about the whatever that everybody watched because Bonanza Daniel Boone Red Skelton show Walt Disney great lineup back then McDonald's was not a sit-down place you could go there and buy a bag of burgers and ours did not have a drive up or anything you can just go inside you ordered and then you got your bag of burgers and went home enjoyed them in front of the TV on TV trays.
(Which we thought were just the most amazing thing because you weren't supposed to be eating in that room anyway let alone have a special tray to do it on. It felt like you were doing something special.)
@@stevebroitman4969 I'll definitely have to check that out. ✌️ Thanks
Same here 👋🙂
@@shawneenhammer4241 Remember the pain of missing a special? You’d then have to wait a *whole year* if was a seasonal show, and if it was live (like Perry Como’s Christmas special) you’d never see it because every year was unique.
I actually feel sorry for people who grew up with everything on demand. They’ll never know the pure pleasure of turning on the radio just in time to hear a favorite song-or the particular thrill of having a cassette lined up perfectly to catch the song on tape. 🥳
I was literally smiling the entire time I watched this. What a killer medley!
I am loving these releases of Cher’s variety show!! The 70s was a great decade to grow up in…
Seems like it!
Yes it was
Cher calls Jay Osmond "teacher" at 5:13 because he is the one who taught the choreography for this segment as well as most of the other Osmond routines throughout the years.
In the words of Johnny Carson, I did not know that
Interesting. I didn't know that.
That’s cool
Thanks for sharing that!
White men dancing…at least they tried.😂
This awesome! Cher and the Osmonds!
I am age 61. If I could pick a decade of my life to return to, it would be the ‘70’s. My parents were in their late thirties, early forties. The simplest things in life made you happy. Families did most everything together. I remember the fun we used to have going to the drive- in movies. Mom’s making homemade birthday cakes and having big birthday parties, inviting your friends and all the kids in the neighborhood would play, ride our bikes from sun up to sun down. Christmas was such a huge deal. Kids didn’t get presents all of the time like they do now. There was more socialization without the advent of social media and iPhones. I have such precious memories of those days.
Yes! Preach! I have such wonderful memories
I loved it too until Disco/Studio 54. Then everything became full-on s_x. A bit much for an 11/12 yr old. The films, shows and music, Broadway, even the commercials still hold up. Saturday nights have never been the same since Mary and Carol left our tv screens. Now kids have birthday party organisers. I always had a pinata. I just assumed telly and films would continue to flourish. Music did until it fell off a cliff in 2000.
Me too❤
This was so great to watch. I watched Cher, Donny & Marie, The Jackson Five, Barbara Mandrell & the Mandrell Sisters, and The Captain & Tennille when I was a kid and I still love seeing clips of these shows. Such talented artists. I loved them all. (And I can’t believe I actually forgot how absolutely gorgeous Donny Osmond was!!)
He’s still so handsome! 😂
Me too!
Always Donny🥰😍😍
Donny was so gorgeous ❤️❤️❤️
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Such a feelgood vibe, so much talent and happiness. Amazing Stevie Wonder songs. And the crazy clothes of the 70s!
Oh, those clothes!
Tom I was thinking the same thing. Entertainment isn't happy anymore, it's just smtg to watch. Oh the good old days. Maybe we should start a group...
"T&T Vintage" 😁I actually really like it.
@@tammieupton6257 What a brilliant idea! 😁
Loved every moment of the 70's. ✌️🇺🇸❤️🌈🌝
I love Cher as always loved how she gave other artists their props when singing their songs! She is still amazing !!!!
Love this!!! Legendary
TOTALLY TOTALLY AWESOME
I wish that musical performances today had the same sense of celebration and authenticity. You can tell that they're performing out of a love for music. There's no ego or attitude.
Maybe. You say "authenticity" but I remember that performers were ALWAYS told to smile back then.
This made me smile. Miss these kinds of shows.
I love to watch these guys dance!
Cher is one of hardest-working raw talents in Hollywood. Consummate professional. Raw talent. Humble, and an ambassador of what a star is and should aspire to be.
"Ian Sears" I once read a critic's comment on a newspaper (sometime in the 1970s or perhaps early to mid 1980s) saying that Cher must have sold her soul to the devil for her fame since she does not have any talent so as to be so popular and well-known.
@@obscurelyvague Having had the opportunity to work with Cher, it is only my opinion. Cher's perspective is on the engagement and enjoyment of the viewers, not self-promotion. I say the same of Lily Tomlin and Dolly Parton. Genuine, humble, skill.
@@obscurelyvague Well, I personally don't think she can sing, she can just about hold a tune and that's it. But I must admit that when singing WITH the Osmonds she does sound OK.
@@ABC1701AI love Cher! She is one of the greatest performers of all times. One of a kind. There will always be haters... Her amazing career speaks for itself.
@@MajasMusicMine Each to their own, put her on a stage with, for example, someone like Kiri te Kanawa or possibly even Carla Maffioletti or Kimmy Skota and there would be no comparison. My husband likes her music and has several of her CDs, it simply isn't my cup of tea in any way at all.
It depends on which type of music you like and my preferences lie from Saxon plainchant up the the music of the brilliant composer Tomas de Luis Victoria in the early 1600s and there is now way on earth Cher can possibly compare to that.
Omg! One of the best medleys!!!!
YEAH!!!!
That was one of Cher's best! The Osmonds were excellent, their voices harmonized so well with Cher's. Compliments!
The Osmonds are the complete package 🥰🥰
Cher can sing with anyone and any style. What a super talent.
"Decades" used to air the Sonny and Cher Show. What a trip back in time.😃👍
Variety shows from 1960's and 1970's were so great. Everybody, and I mean everybody was on them, from pop, jazz, classical, broadway, we were exposed to it all.
When you could have your kids watch and not be worried about it !!! Legends !!!!
It's hard work to be this perfect. The moves are so precise. I've already watched this 3 or 4 times. I just think it's that good. It's a great combination of two diverse talents. I grew up with these people. Love it.
Fantastic arrangements, fantastic performance ... and it's LIVE.
Where has this been all my life, hard not to smile, brilliant
I’ve always loved the Osmond’s. Very underrated in my opinion.
Problem is that TV ruined their music careers. Also they became too much of an advertisement for the Mormon church.
Ah the 70’s ! Hair, tans, color, music good times!
Cher could sing for sure, I’d forgotten.
The Osmonds I’d also forgotten how well they could harmonize.
🎶
I'm in my 50s and I remember these tv shows. Because of these clips, my kids who are in their 30s can now see Cher in her younger years. She hasn't changed.
Cher is the Twinkies of the entertainment industry. She remains the same no matter how long she's been away.
I'm 53 but I have to admit I wasn't interested in this back then watching cartoons in the 70's. I do remember my mother watching these shows.
I disagree she's changed enormously. She has gotten much more beautiful and her voice got very much better, as has her material.
You are so right about her voice. It's so much more powerful.
Those pant outfits are EVERYTHING!!
Cher you are gorgeous ❤❤❤kisses from Brazil
I love seeing all these clips. We are so fortunate to have our beautiful Cher documented for everyone to see.
Beautiful? Hardley

Such talent, just awesome, thank you
Hysterical
- I forgot what fantastic hair Donny Osmond had ( and his brothers)
- Cher had the BEST outfits!
- It's was taboo to show your belly button on TV in the 70's.
- Cher always performed with her guests
- This is what families did together, watch Sonny and Cher and other variety shows.
- On weekends we kids watched cartoons, SoulTrain and American Bandstand
yep
Bob Mackie designed the costumes for the show. Also The Carol Burnett Show.
I love Stevie, Cher is amazing with this medley….so many great songs
My child hood was sad watching Cher and Donnie and mare kept me sane
I can’t stop watching this
One of my favorite shows from the 70’s. The Osmonds were an added bonus. Had the biggest crush on Donny!
Me too 😊
Didn't we all lol
What about Colombo
@@reginaldforthright805 I think you mean 'Columbo'. :)
I'm loving watching them video's I've never seen before. The Osmonds and look at Donnie💙❤
I loved Cher when I was a kid, and still do.
They had such a good time doing this. Lovely!!!
THAT WAS INCREDIBLE!!!!
She's also with the Jacksons 5..
I watched that performance on the day it premiered!! It was also AMAZING
As a 40 yr old I'll say Cher is the most beautiful Woman ever created 😍.
I once asked a Hollywood makeup artist who was the most beautiful celeb she ever did makeup for. She didn't even think about it and immediately replied, "Cher. Hands down." I said, "Cher? Really? What she was she like?" She said, "She's more beautiful in person. She was nice, but aloof. Not snobby, but aloof."
Daaaamn they killed it!! Stevie is tough act to follow...
This is soooo good! Cher forever!
1970s cher, super gorgeous looking
✌️💜🕺💃 Priceless classic timeless love this and takes me back 💃🕺✌️ Good memories ❣️
Hello, I love it. Old Times, Good Days. Beautiful Songs. 48 years ago. It is amazing. Thank You For The Wonderful Memories. God Bless You All 🤟❤🙏
The Osmonds were such a talented family and each one had a good to great voice. So sad we can not watch fun, wholesome TV shows anymore. Watching happy, talented people with fantastic dancing and great music is so missed. Love watching Cher who had a great voice with the talented Osmond family sing, dance have fun. I so miss the old days.
They were definitely hard workers with amazing talent, but these shows are definitely better left in the past
@MH Morris that is strange to say that best if those shows are "left in the past?" We all can enjoy watching talented people and say complimentry comments about them too, no harm to anyone. We all have free will to watch them. They would never have talented happy people on TV today, can't show that anymore. I never watch TV or movies anymore, my right to say I do not enjoy today's Hollywood.
I love the ❤ great medley
Watching this clip brings back my childhood memories although it's my first time to see this. Hope Cher would do a one night show reviving her performance with the Osmond brothers. That would be awesome!
#revival #cherwithosmondbrothers
Yeah and they can wear the same outfits🤣
Cher has some serious SOUL!!!
Cher is perfect for Stevie songs. Her voice is totally in the right range.
Love this...reminds me when there was real entertainment on tv for the whole family.
Really sharp dance moves by the Osmonds and Cher.
For Mormons in the 1970s you can't ask for better dancing
@@JonathanRBarnard tru dat
Cher is so smoking hot ..and most guys don't even see the other guys when she's dancing ,no matter who they are..she shines bright above any of them and her voice dominates all others

What a great memory! Thanks!!
Amazing how every one of the Osmonds could sing!

Back in the day, entertainers REALLY danced, sang, and entertained with few, if any, electronic enhancements. AND they did it LIVE.
Exactly the opposite! "Back in the day" musical acts were with minimal choreography and dance moves, nothing close to today's sophistication. These days, poor performers have to sing, produce, dance, and tour massively due to the fact that streaming technology has nullified records sales as a revenue for the artist. An artist without touring will go hungry these days! That's why you have a hard time finding a performer who cannot dance anymore! That's partly why Rock is dead and super sophisticated over-produced pop has replaced. When it comes to stage performance, like it or not, you don't want to compare BTS, Bruno Mars, Beyonce, Jason Derulo, Usher, etc. with "back in the day" stars. There were only a few noteworthy stage performances in pop music industry before Michael Jackson, on par with today's standards. "Back in the day", artists used to sell records and become millionaires. Not anymore! Let's not even start with Music Video, which is along with touring, a must nowadays for any surviving artist. Even back in the day artists themselves confess this.
There is a live Orchestra playing down front. The same as in the pit of theatrical theaters.
Yup. Live.
yep, back then technology was not that developped to air the full live perfomance so they used to put phonogram that was called
@@Alkelly-hh6rv surely orchestra was present like singers were holding micro but on TV that never made sense exactly due to then technology
Forget CGI, can’t beat good old fashioned choreographed human movement and dance to some funky beats. This was the real deal and 100% relatable on a human level. Makes me feel alive just watching it!
Good thing your dog didn't see it.
What does cgi have to do with anything? 😂
@@lilmissmonsterrr 🤦🏻♂️🤣
great point - the youth want to be as a-human (synthetic, inorganic) as possible in their body expression

Stellar performance by Cher and The Osmonds! The band backing them up were super tight! I really enjoyed that!!
Yes band was great ,,, but there are pre recorded parts in there...where are the mics? A boom mic was used for close ups but the distant shots were pre recorded vocals. I will say sounds like Cher sang live all the way through to make it look polished. It's all cool,,,makes it look sound and look great for tv.
Osmonds and Jackson Five two best family related entertainment groups of the 60’s and 70’s! Unforgettable music!
Wow ...to have a talented group like the Osmonds....and cher is the star....why she even had them on is beyond me...
