The part of Kailyn having to think about her cutlery placement isn't a thing here. We don't have to think about it and it is natural to us as we are raised from toddlers to place our knife and fork together like talk soldiers when finished eating. This is a known signal and the waiter or waitress will collect the plates. It is also considered rude to collect the plates before everyone is finished though it sometimes happens.

Americans still need to learn what to do with the knife n fork during the meal, let alone after!

Watching an American eat is like watching a toddler, it's painful

I think it’s fair to say that house tours aren’t a thing in the UK. In fact I’ve just realised my friends, who visit often, have never seen the upstairs of my last 2 houses, and I’ve known one of them around 30 years.
I think I’d struggle with a U.S. dining experience, as I’ve lived a life absent of being clocked while eating, although our waiting staff do usually check in at least once to ask if everything is OK.
As for religion, we’re largely secular, so unless we’re invited to a Christening, Wedding or Funeral, most rarely see the inside of a church, or want to talk about the subject.

"Ohh no, you have it" is British English for "I'm having this! It's mine". Because the correct and polite thing is for the other person to refuse to take it. "ohh not at all. Please, you take it". By being the one to offer first you have already indicated that you have taken ownership of the item, because you can't offer something you don't already have. Should the other person actually take the item, that would be considered as rude if not more rude than not being offered it in the first place. Brits just have a politer way of saying things. We live, cramped together on a small island its just a veneer that evolved so we don't go mad.

As to cutlery placement, I was taught to place the fork, tines pointing down if I had not finished eating, or tines pointng upwards if I had, knife alongside the fork. I am English, born and fed!

@@LB-my1ej You may like this description of Millie Perkins, the delightful Jamaican singer who had a big hit in 1964 with My Boy Lollipop”: A restaurant critic/journalist who worked next door to me did a “Where Are They Now” article some years ago about all the one hit wonders from the 60s and 70s. He described her voice as sounding like a coloratura chainsaw. I never forgot it and have used it whenever it’s truly appropriate. If you want to check out Millie, I recommend the only live version “Millie Small My Boy Lollipop 1965 HQ” that I could see. It’s on UA-cam channel Greaser Greaser. She’s so cute (the description “cute as a button” was invented for her) that we can forgive her actual sound. However the following video on YT was Millie singing “Killer Joe” (1967) on Curtis Hayden’s channel. This one is a coloratura chainsaw on steroids. Perhaps that song is what the journalist heard that consolidated his opinion. The comments on both videos are by die-hard Millie fans.
Ref. the loud and whining voices you mentioned- I have an idea for Meryl Streep if she’s not doing it already - being a diction and accent coach. She made a beautiful speech a few days ago that showed such grace and authenticity that I realised she’s a gold standard example of what people can sound like if only they’d bring mindfulness into the conversation.

A lot of years ago now when our kids were young, on a couple of separate occasions, we had a student from north america come to live with us for a school year (September to June) Their ages were between 14 & 19. After they had been in the UK for 6months, their parents came to visit them, as a group they went to the airport to meet their families. They later reported how embarrassingly loud they found them to be, having become used to the brits. Keep Reacting!

"Utensils"... 😂 knife and fork are generally considered cutlery (at least in the UK they are🙈) - utensils are more like... tools or gadgets😂😂

I’m Australian and I must say that I felt like I was from the UK too! Then it was refreshing to discover that you could also identify with most of the issues. Good on you and I wish you luck with your new YT channel! 🤗

Yes, we have seen footage of people getting injured and even killed in Black Friday rushes. Black Friday has started to become a thing here as well in recent years, but as far as I know, nobody has got hurt here yet as we tend to queue properly.

    With you being very polite,
    forgive my bluntness, but...
Is this because of your being an African-American and therefore more likely to be considered confrontational (or similar) and the responses that come with that?
I only ask because we don't really see this level of racism in Europe,
but the media suggests it's a bit bloody frequent across the pond.

Could be. Also the New York in me. That direct straight forwardness in my character. I don't like to beat around the bush so I respect your bluntless. You are always welcomed on this channel 🤜🤛.
