    Glad to see that Seattle is not afraid of color... beautiful liveries on the trolleys and buses.

      Yes indeed... the bright colors would be especially nice on a gray, drizzly day.

    Seattle Metro obviously loves its 60-footers. I've never seen a place with so many 'bendy' buses.

      There used to be a lot more, but routes operated by Community Transit (including Sound Transit Express) are mostly operated by double deckers nowadays.

    I came to watch this because someone told me about those buses that bend in the middle and the seats inside turn with the bus...I found that cool and wanted to find out more for myself.

    7:31 I vaguely remember this noise. It takes me back to the days of looking out of the back window on those old buses as a child. The new ones are so boring, and I wish they’d kept with the blue/green/turquoise paint scheme instead of switching to purple for the trolley buses.

      +Emilio Vicente no way NYC is overrated. The best thing to do in Seattle is don't look or act like an outsider.

      The poles are held on rather loosely to the wires. If they stretch too far they come off, and most of the time it isn't violent enough to pull the catenery down (but there are exceptions occasionally)

    I don’t know how to compare Seattle public trans vs the TTC we have here in Toronto. I’ll be moving to Seattle soon so I need to learn quite a bit.

    • @Welwyn22
      @Welwyn22  4 роки тому +1

      It's quite similar but significantly cheaper (especially with an ORCA card).
      King County Metro is the equivalent of the TTC. Sound Transit is like GO Transit, and Community Transit and Pierce Transit are like Mississauga and York Region Transit.
      You'll get used to it, Seattle is quite a livable city by US standards.

    • @yyznawar6568
      @yyznawar6568 4 роки тому +1

      Welwyn22 honestly York Region Transit looks much more similar to King County Metro. Do you know if Seattle has any subway trains or it’s just the Street cars.

    • @Welwyn22
      @Welwyn22  4 роки тому +1

      @@yyznawar6568 Seattle has streetcars and the regional LINK Light-Rail that runs through the former 'Transit Tunnel'. Not an actual Subway but as close as Seattle can get to having one.

  • @lydiaponce8817
    @lydiaponce8817 2 роки тому

    Hardly any cars. People take busses in Seattle or walk. Drivers park their cars at bus stations and take buses to work. That's why there isn't traffic. No medians they cause traffic.

    The bus system in Seattle is obviously amazing, but too bad there's so little intra-city rail infrastructure. One light rail and a 2 mile streetcar line in a city that could easily support a whole subway system is kind of unfortunate.

    • @Welwyn22
      @Welwyn22  6 років тому +3

      Indeed so.
      There are more streetcar lines under construction - as well as the Link having extensions to the north, south and east within the next five years. A new Link line to West Seattle will follow in the next decade with further extensions north and south as well.
      It definitely isn't on the scale of Chicago, New York or London though.

    • @biz0829
      @biz0829 6 років тому +1

      @@Welwyn22 That's good to hear, but it's a little annoying how they didn't do that decades ago. I think of Seattle's neighbor Portland which is a smaller city with a much less extensive downtown yet it has 3 streetcar lines and 5 light rail lines that extend far into outreaching suburbs - a sixth line will probably begin construction by the time Seattle starts its extension projects - or Vancouver BC which is also smaller in population yet features a world class autonomous light metro system built in the 80's. Too bad the Seattlites were more concerned with building highways and viaducts at that time.
