Have you thought about investing in a tiny home? Maybe buying a small piece of property and put a tiny home on it. Honestly, it'd be your own. And you can add on as you go if you feel that you need to.
Anyway, just a thought :) Thanks for sharing w/ us!

@@trishacarlson4122 No, read what I said again. It's not bitterness, but facts. Tiny homes also don't retain their value and often have poor build quality. If someone is building a house on land, just build a regular house, it's not going to cost much more in materials.

    • @trishacarlson4122

@@censoredeveryday3320 I don't usually feed into these arguments but if you do your research, which you very clearly have not done, you would know you are wrong. Tiny houses are economical and in this housing market, not all of us can afford fancy dancy houses and even if we could, we wouldn't to just to fill them with stuff we probably don't even need. That is our value. It's only poor build quality if you don't know what you're doing. You seem to like to use opinions as facts and unfortunately, that's just not realistic in this situation.
The difference in tiny houses between 400 sq feet and the average 1500 square feet is HUGE in cost. Can you explain why you think that's "not much more cost?"
Honestly. I'm not going to reply to whatever you have to say next because I'm done here and I don't play with drama. But please consider having more of an open mind the next time you think you're being smart, but aren't.

@@trishacarlson4122 Unless you build out on rural land, most counties have minimum size requirements for houses. There are building codes and all kinds of regulations. Again, resale value of 'tiny houses' is very poor. You don't seem them listed on the MLS very often because people don't buy them. And lastly, the land is usually the most expensive component if you're within 30 minutes to a city.
And you're wrong. I've built 1200 sqft single story house with my bare hands and it's not that much more expensive compared to the space that is gained and resale value.
Go ahead and waste your money on a tiny house. You can come back and reply to this thread and tell me I'm right

Great to see you building up you’re sinking funds again. Don’t be in too much of a rush to leave your aunts house. Give yourself time to adjust, build up savings again and enjoy the time and space. The fact the student loans are in forbearance again is crazy. It’s unbelievable they are taking so long to do the readjustments for you and I understand your income isn’t fixed either. Have a great week. Mary, Joes wife 🙇‍♀️👏👍💪🙏💐🐈‍⬛🐈

I moved from a larger city to a rural town in the midwest. Yes you will make less money but cost of living is usually less. And given what is going on in blue cities with migrants taking over apartment complexes, I'm glad I got out when I did. If I do decide to stay where I'm at, houses are 50% less than a major city and the property taxes are low. City life isn't all it's hyped up to be imo

You stay with your aunt save your money so that you can eventually buy a property because if you could’ve bought a property 20 years ago you would’ve been set right now so when it became time for you to move, you could either have that property as a rental or you could have sold it. So take this grace that your aunt is giving you rest yourself and continue to save and help your aunt out when she does come home delicious meals good luck.

I do think that if you can get just enough from the boat job you should stick with it. It's giving you a better work life balance which you clearly need right now. Is there another flexible side hustle that you can get to boost your income? Maybe increase your UA-cam? How much extra do you realistically need each month to keep you as you are and putting a bit more into savings for a future move?

Rachel , I don't see the rush or problem, your aunt probably loves having some one there at the house , you are like a house sitter for her when she is away, then she has some company when she is there. Plus the house is big , so if she wants to be by herself you and she can. You have a gift, that other would love. You are also, doing the right thing paying some expenses for staying. Relax, and enjoy your gift. Blessings to you and your wonderful Aunt.

Your aunt is amazingly sweet for offering her place as an option. Totally get your need for independence! It's HARD to accept others help, even family. Bought my place for under 100k back in 2014 as a fixer-upper. Paying off debt and hoping to renovate next year and rent it out. I did accounting for prop mgmt companies, so I see the benefits of owning an investment property. The downside: relocating and live with my parents until I figure out how to buy another house down there. The mental struggle is real 😩😩, but after making poor $ decisions for two decades, it's the smartest thing to set myself up financially. If you'd have told me I'd be considering living w my parents in my 40s, I'd say you're insane... but here we are 😂

Your not alone... After a divorce and chemo from right breast cancer I am also in my 40's living back with my mom as a single mother. To go from a working mom in a 5 bedroom 2 story house to a divorced woman living a single life with a child who also had to go through chemotherapy etc You could not have told me in my past that this is how my 40s would have ended up! Life has a weird way of doing plot twist! The only thing keeping me saying is my love for God and keeping close to him through Bible studies. I do suffer from nostalgia which is just reflecting and remembering how life used to be but I realize I must look forward because you can't move forward if you always looking backwards. I am hoping and praying my circumstances change but right now at times I do have anxiety in a little bit of depression however I snap out of it because of my relationship with God! I'm praying for better times and hoping my circumstances would change after treatment... Well I know it's weird coming from me but keep your head up!❤❤❤

    What is a sinking fund?

    • @EmsFitVenture
      @EmsFitVenture 2 місяці тому +1

It is money that you put in a savings account for a planned future purchase. So if you pay your car insurance every 6 months and it is $600 you would aim to put at least $100 a month into the sinking fund. The other option is to put lump sums in the account but the purpose is so the money is available when needed and you are not stressed about a sudden large purchase.

Nope. I've been in an RV ever since ♿/job loss. I can't afford a place to live IN & LIVE. So I bought an RV and my cat loves everything except the driving part. Gas is expensive so he and I are in agreement we stay put as much as possible.
A gym membership is absolutely a necessity for me. Taking a shower in my RV is a PITA. The shower curtain comes out on a track on the ceiling into the galley kitchen aka the hallway. It is a sunken shower pan exactly the size of a yoga mat. You stand in your hallway galley kitchen to shower letting the water drain out of the floor into the grey tank. If and only if you are completely level. If not it stands in the lowest corner and has to be manually pumped out using a fishtank pump. After that you have to mop. Then wait for the shower curtain to dry completely to avoid mold. Then push it back into the watercloset compartment. Did I mention I'm disabled? I cannot do that for every shower. I'd never get anything else done. Like cook, eat and do dishes.😅

Try emptying your mind. The mind is always trying to figure something out as it sees everything as a problem yet doesn’t recognize itself as the problem. Take your inquiry and drop it into stillness and then put your attention on anything that doesn’t require problem solving. Use your five senses more and just breathe. The universe has you and I enjoy your presence here. Stillness is where the answers will arise from as it does speak. The mind doesn’t recognize quiet or stillness and will distract you every which way from Sunday if you allow. I am aware I didn’t author myself yet something greater did and if I relax the natural order unfolds. You are such a beautiful spirit with zen masters ( your cats) let them teach you to simply be -the doing will follow-without a struggle. I am not struggling with housing yet the idea or thought in my mind about it can create one if I allow. It’s really ok to let go and allow things as well as divine ideas to come to you. Much respect🙏🏻

@radiancegrace - I like what you said about emptying your mind and problem solving. I think I have over developed problem solving ability which got strong as a kid, always trying to survive. As an adult, I just want to stop worrying, but my worrying doesn't seem to go away until I problem solve by having a plan and then I feel better. But then soon again, I worry and trying to problem solve again to feel better. I wish I could empty my mind. I've tried meditation and other things but don't enjoy it and it's just more comfortable to go back to what's easy. But your words have given me a lot to think about. Thank you.

I would also look in to your financial background as well, any old bank accounts, retirement funds, company shares, unclaimed inheritances etc. Also, maybe look in to selling your property and downsizing if possible. Is there any help from family. Is there any work from home, dog/baby sitting you could do. Any teaching that you could do, maybe online. It's not a disaster, it just seems like it at the moment. Good luck!

enjoy your situation and be very glad you did not have a mortgage when you lost your job - as that could have been potentially a much worse outcome.
this need for ultra independence is a negative aspect of the American culture. people place themselves at financial risk just to get out of their parent's house.
one day your parents & older family members will need to rely on you.... i am sure you will be there for them to help them & not expect them to be "independent"....
prepare yourself - because this phase of life is coming probably sooner than you think. our elders are independent until they simply cannot be anymore... it happens fast - then they need us to be there for them in many ways.
please please please - - forget abut this cultural American silliness - - and appreciate this opportunity to save save save your money and be good company for your aunt and parents as they are also near by . - - please position yourself for a financially secure future...
your aunt will be so happy that she was able to help you achieve this security.
