I totally relate dude. I'm in my 30s too and I stutter. It's manageable and mild for the most part but it can fluctuate wildly depending on the situation. This condition is very isolating and this isolation really hurts the pysche. I've managed to get ahead in life and I've done well career wise but the amount of extra hoops I had to jump and the added hardships I had to endure almost broke me. I currently live alone and I really don't have friends. I like interacting with ppl but they usually end up disliking me because they almost always develop the perception that I'm weird, stupid, and anti-social and that's painful. Nowadays I don't even try to socialize, it's too emotionally draining. Thank you for sharing your story. It's nice to know we aren't alone in this.

Yeah man I've been a stutter as long as I can remember. It sucks because I hear my family and friends talk good, and I just want that. But from what I know I'm the only one in my family that stutters. It's sucks because they don't really hangout with me, and I know it's because of that. It hurts sometimes alot, but I have a beautiful wife and son, and they are my world. But you so brave to post video's, not a lot of people can do that. Proud of you brother. God bless you and your familu

I’ve just come across this video while lying in my bed in England, I have a very bad stammer and it’s ruined my life, I was looking on UA-cam for help or to find people who feel how I feel every day, worried about the the day ahead, hoping they won’t make a fool of themselves. Thank you for your videos, I could never have the courage to do this ❤

Hey mate, great to see you're still making videos- a lot of us wouldn't have the balls to do what you do. Its awesome to see your wonderful family growing up as well, I'm really jealous of the relationship you seem to have with them.
I am a closet stutterer (I can hide it from most people by avoiding trigger words or sounds) as mine isn't as severe. I don't know why I feel like I have to keep it a secret from people- maybe it would be easier to deal with if it was more obvious.
I always hated that people don't seem to think that stuttering is a big issue, I guess because unless you stutter in front of them they would never know that you have a disability.. Maybe we should walk around with a big sign saying "I CAN'T TALK PROPERLY". It's something that really can take over your whole life- I haven't answered my phone for years, never socialise with people outside of being at work- I even avoid going shopping unless I literally run out of food due to the social anxiety it can cause.
When you say you would give anything to be able to speak like a normal person, I understand exactly what you mean, like how different could life have been if you could speak up in class, ask out that girl on a date, etc. actually pursue what you want to do and never be held back especially as a kid and as a teenager. But I think having a stutter makes you become a more loving and empathetic person. I wonder if I'd be a real jerk if I never stuttered, perhaps stuttering has made you a better person, and a better dad for your kids :)

    Good video.
Most ppl have no fucking idea what it means to us, those who stutter.
I wish I could accept it. I wish I didn’t care about it.
But I can’t see it that way. It’s embarrassing. It’s shameful.

I am 71 years old, and have stuttered since early childhood. Based on my own experience and a very large amount of reading about stuttering over the years, I would say the following.
In many instances, children who begin stuttering in early childhood (age 4), for reasons not fully understood by experts in this field, will permanently cease stuttering WITHOUT speech therapy. In my opinion, it depends in part on the parenting abilities of the parents, the degree to which they have educated themselves about raising children who stutter, overall conditions within the home, bullying at school, and the severity of the biological basis of the child’s stuttering. If your child’s stuttering does not improve AND IF it becomes a problem, I recommend speech therapy. If the child seems to “be ok” with his stuttering, it is probably best to not obtain speech therapy, just try to be a good parent. If you do decide to obtain speech therapy, try VERY strongly to find a speech therapist who has been trained how to treat stuttering, and few of them have.
A better option is an approach that does not treat the stuttering, but the child who stutters. This is sometimes call the “holistic” approach.
The “holistic” approach may also be helpful as a young adult.
If a person has stuttered since early childhood and still does by his early 20’s, the continued stuttering and related stressful experiences may have caused mental health disorders. No type of therapy will be effective until those disorders have been adequately addressed. The disorders may be depression, PTSD, generalized anxiety, or some type of personality disorder regarding having normal relationships with other people. If so, he needs help from a psychologist or even a psychiatrist. In either case, try to find one who has patients who stutter.
    I "have been there".

After I started stuttering after damage to my vocal cords after having ACDF surgery on my cervical spine I've learned to just accept that I have it. It took a couple of years to just accept it. I'm tired of searching for people who stutter and all these sites that claim be cured in 10 minutes. I've just accepted that it's my life now and it sets me apart from everyone else.

Hey dude, maybe you stutter because you put fluent speech on a pedestal? I stutter myself, but I stuttered a lot more severely in my teens. In my own experience (and possibly yours too), I have noted that the desire for fluency is counterproductive. Also, the fact that you hate your stutter so much kind of shows that you do put fluent speech on a pedastal. When I use to stutter more severely, I hated my stutter and I would try very hard to not stutter. I think that trying hard not to stutter actually causes stuttering. (i.e. stuttering is an attempt to prevent stuttering). My solution is to just think to yourself "fuck it". Don't try and talk well, just let it go man. This is obviously easily said, but difficult to do. However, I feel like that "fuck it" mentality towards your speech is the beginning of the end of stuttering. Also, look into a guy called Dr. Mort Cooper on youtube or even check out my vids man, I talk about how I have improved my speech and one of the biggest things that helped is I just stopped looking at fluent speech as the holy grail of life. Peace dude!

@@asterphy sadly yes. All my life. Some days actually aren’t bad and most people wouldn’t even notice but other days I can’t get out one word. It’s worse when I speak in front of a group or I read out loud. If I’m by myself talking to myself usually won’t stutter, also when I sing ( which I’m terrible at ) I won’t stutter. But I’ve been in speech thereapy most of my life, and I’ve had 2 different speech devices and I’ve been to the best speech school in the world. They are seemed to help for a little bit then I’m always right back to my stutter no matter what.
