Planted, dianthus, Delphiniums, larkspur and bachelor buttons. I also broadcast some foxglove seeds incase the ones sewn early in the summer don't survive the winter.
I would love to see you identify which perennial plants should be cut-back now and which should be cut-back in Spring. I think that would be very helpful to me. Thank you again, DA
Hi Niall, you're so sweet for the shout out 🥰😘 Your recommendations are fab as always! Especially the Euphorbia replacement option and love the sea holly! Great vid 👏💚
Greetings, Niall, from Windermere, Florida zone 9b USA 🇺🇸 ❤️ Looks like you all are going into Autumn 🍂 very soon. We are still in the 90's and escaping indoors by 10a.m when the heat and humidity are stifling. Take care of yourself 🌿💚🌿
Thanks very much! I know that music is a bit of a love/hate thing for viewers, but I like adding something that gives a feeling to the video over-and-above what I'm talking about.
morning Niall, great video! just literally ordered primrose plants before watching your video as an online site were selling 4 for 3 on 12 autumn bedding plants but think 12 are the double rose like ones so look forward to seeing these early next year! glad you are having rain as the garden and orchard really needs it! hope to see you if you are going to the Malvern show but am going on Sunday and dragging my partner along.... have a great week
@@niallgardens very busy with life. Days are flying by. All good, how are you doing Niall. Did manage to pick up a few tulip bulbs. Reorganising our back garden, so the garden has been torn apart.
Thanks for this great choice I'll be thinking what to get, I have euphorbia in my garden,it's lovely colour brightens my borders nicely. Great stuff, we have a bit of rain just now,had heavy shower at 6pm, but need it in the night. See you next time 😀
I've heard on many youtube channels that Sea Holly smells horrible like dog poop....any thoughts? BTW i am sowing bachelor buttons, sweet peas, pansies, nasturtiums, forget me nots ,snapdragons (mine are already big from the summer), dianthus, dara, larkspur, alyssum, african daisy, calendula. happy gardening
Thanks for the video Niall & Rachel. I know what to do with the primroses (thanks Rachel!) but should the others be sown/kept outdoors or under cover? Any advice greatly appreciated. I’m also in Ireland.
So glad you enjoyed it - for things like hardy annuals, they’ll be absolutely fine outside over winter in an Irish climate. For other plants, I always think that if you have the ability to provide them with some kind of shelter and protection it’ll be to their benefit since the plants will be small - a cold frame is ideal. Hope this helps!
Hi Niall any tips on getting rid of goose grass its taken over our hawthorn hedge looks terrible I have never seen it this bad before , I would be grateful for any advice
Oh that’s such a good question! I’m afraid I think it’s going to be a case of manually removing it and sticking with it and hopefully over time you’ll get on top of it. Apologies because I know how frustrating that particular weed can be!
Great suggestions for seed planting., I have or have grown most of them. The monarda, do you have problems with powdery mildew where you are? It would seem you would have too there unless you grow the newer varieties maybe. I have always grown the old heirloom tall one that I can't give up because of the way it stretches' upwards with its cat-in-the-hat layers of blooms.
Funny, I do have some mildew problems with them! But same as yourself, I think they’re totally worth it - the flowers are just out of this world aren’t they?!
Hi Nial, great video so informative! I've had good success with sea holly Cornflowers , marigolds and larkspur , the seedlings are quite large but do I plant them out now into the garden bed or keep them in a greenhouse ? I'm in Ireland also.
Sorry for the late reply! You may have already found an answer by now, but I'd recommend keeping them under cover for the winter, whether that's a greenhouse or cold frame, etc... then harden them off next spring 👍
What are you sowing this month? Let me know! 😄
Nothing being planted at the moment, garden has been taken apart,it's a work in progress.

Helenium and rebekia, do i need to keep them in greenhouse over winter or plant them out once big enough. North uk, very windy just like your weather.
I would overwinter them in a greenhouse or similar personally - especially the helenium since they’re hardiness is a bit touch-and-go
This video comes at the right time, I just planted some lupins in my garden.
Ah I'm so glad that it came out at a good time!

I live in zone 8b south Alabama. I just sowed zinnia, marigold, cilantro, spinach, acorn squash, brussel sprouts, basil, and rosemary.
What a lovely selection! Love it!
Beautiful rain looks wonderful. Cannot wait to sow Texas Bluebonnets our lupins and hollyhocks. Love all your seed selections. Good video Thank you
Good luck and thank you! Yeah the rain was very much needed after our unusually dry summer
First time watching your sight.

Hi Lisa! Aw no, I can’t make it to the Malvern Show this year otherwise it would’ve been lovely to catch up with you.
Niall, will catch up later, as busy day ahead. Whoohoo rain, did you do a rain dance. Thanks Niall, great recommendations.
Hi Lorraine! ❤️ How’s your week been?
@@niallgardens very busy with life. Days are flying by. All good, how are you doing Niall. Did manage to pick up a few tulip bulbs. Reorganising our back garden, so the garden has been torn apart.
I’ve been doing the same actually - amassing my collection of bulbs for this year… so much temptation!
Niall: This video was just fabulous - rain and all. Thank you for posting. Donald
My pleasure! So glad that you enjoyed it! The rain made me laugh because normally I'd do anything to avoid filming in it!

Niall, you had plant envy with that lupine lol
Those red lupins were just stunning weren't they! I'm hoping mine will be as nice!
merci Niall pour tous ces bons conseils !
You're more than welcome Roger! Merci!
Hi Niall, hope you are well. If possible please could you make a video of your houseplants. Many thanks
I've got that written down in my list of future videos because I think it could be interesting! Thanks for the suggestion!
I happened to see this video, and I want to thank you for your help. New subscriber here!
Oh! I’m in Michigan: zone 5 or 6.
Hi Kathryn, thanks so much for subscribing! ☺️
Subscribed and will sow everything except of monarda and primrose.
Thanks very much!
I’m in Oviedo Florida in USA
Hi!
well done niall, thank you
You’re welcome Jessie!
You talked me into off to get a pack of primrose seeds.
That's the best bit about these videos - enabling and giving permission to everyone to go and buy MORE SEEDS! lol
Excellent. I hope they do really well for you. It will be super exciting to see them pop up next spring. Good luck
Great Vlog Niall 👍🏻
Thanks 👍 Really glad you enjoyed it!

Welcome ☺️
I absolutely love bee balm so pretty, wonderful collection to seed 🥰 I’m off to search some seeds 🥰 Thank You Niall & Rachel 🌸💕🌸
You are welcome, Jasmine. I love bee balm too, such a great plant
Hello Niall. What a great video you put together and what great recommendations. Thanks for the collab and happy growing 🌼🌺🌻🌳
Hi Jasmine! Delighted that you enjoyed the episode so much! Thank you! ❤️
Thanks to you Rachel for joining me - I was delighted to have you! ❤️
Thank you for another great video in this series. What growing zone are you in?
I sit pretty much on the line between zone 8 and zone 9

Can all these seeds be sown outdoors (not in poly tunnel) or should I keep them out of the frost?
I'd very much like to know that as well.
Western canada here...I'm not sure we can do this here, down to 4 degrees celcius here this morning, up to 28 during the day. Just subscribed :D
Hi Sherry! Thanks for subscribing! Yeah it might just be that bit too harsh during your winters
Great video! Actually plan on ‘sowing’ daffodils & tulips, this month. Does that count?
It 100% counts! You know me, I love planting bulbs! So go for it because I won't be far behind you!
What happens to the hyacinth flowers? I wanna see if its bloom great 🥰
Sorry Kara, I’m not too sure what you mean?

Sorry Kara, I’m not too sure what you mean?
Have to have acid soil for lupines..ammi doesnt.really care...but what about the others.
From my experience the others aren’t massively fussy 👍
I think these plants, are for the English climate, or comparable in US, zones 8-9. not for the northeast of America.
Yeah realistically the timings are for exactly as you say, zones 8-9, however different plants might have a little more give for zones outside of that
Can I plant anything now in The USA zone 6-B?
I’m afraid I’m not familiar with a climate that different so I wouldn’t be able to give you any cast iron suggestions
