They're not going to do it. I heard it from a podcast. I totally forgot what his channel name is, but he was talking with an ex employee short story first, the owner and I guess manager even though they hate each other guts don't care about the new customers they tell the people getting them refurbished to not get them refurbished and out for shipping. And for those who have been their long-time customers, they actually get it fully refurbished. So it is mostly picking and choosing.

This is exactly what is wrong with my PlayStation 3! I need it repaired professionally. If I did it myself I would have extra parts left over. In addition, I would forget how to put the Sony PlayStation 3 back together in the correct manner. Great to see someone as the knowledge to disassemble a PlayStation 3, clean it, and reassemble it.
I was like that when l first started. If you were to do it yourself thing l would recommend
-Take your time
-Take it apart in order, i.e., use an ice tray
-Take many pictures with your phone or camera
PS, I do look back at my videos to make sure it's right when putting it back together

I didn't expect this video to be so different from what I expected. It wasn't one where they ruined a PS3 and then repaired it, but one that really repaired it, the problems with the consoles don't seem so artificial, that is, it doesn't seem like they ruined it before the video
Imagine having an actual friend that knows a lot about technology & does professional fix/repairs like this. Its like having every problem solved at your fingertips

Really dirty but it seems the battery going bad was the true culprit.
This is my favorite look of the PS3, one I still have and I’m probably going to have to do this fix down the line.
It is shocking how much dust that builds up in there I've just done a original PS4 be coming out Sunday it's much the same and thank you for watching 😀
It’s shocking to me how poorly some people treat their things, my PS3 60gb launch unit still looks new
The inside is ridiculously dirty, and the outside was made dirty on purpose, u can tell someone took a rag and smeared what looks like white flower or something on there with dust! Stupid man, and what's the big deal about refurbishing a ps3, a little out a date don't you think? The ps5 or even the PS4 blows the PS3 out the door, except for free online, but I don't really play online!

Is there any way to prevent dust from entering ps4 or any other models? Any tips?
Is ok to wash the plastic parts, That's how i clean mine, Every years or so often, Just let them dry before reassembling.
Yeah that will be fine just make sure they are dry before reassemble

I love seeing restorations of consoles, I actually got a refurbished ps3 super slim a few months ago and it work amazingly I love it, it is now one of my favorite consoles

I so wish someone could fix up my old ps3 as well. The console just turns itself off seconds after turning on. I really miss playing all my old games.
This happened to my PS4 recently. Gladly it was just that the port for the power cable was dirty and i just had to clean for it to work perfectly again

Did the same to mine and then treated it to an SDD.
This PS3 is the best model even though it can’t play PS2 games it’s the most reliable and built with the best quality parts

The equipment l used is BLOSTM 120 in 1 Precision Screwdriver Set - Magnetic Screwdriver Kit DIY you can get this on amazon

My PS3 needs this done badly, thing’s 13 years old, filled with dust and runs everything at half FPS. Wish I could find somewhere that does this lol

If you did some modifications to the shell and playing arocould with it might be possible if you do let me know how you get on

Hello first off thank you for watching it's much appreciated I'm not 100% sure l think it was the ribbon cable or just taking it apart and putting it back together by moving the parts inside it's hard to pin point what it was hope this helps

What fixed the disc drive just cleaning it. Mine does the same thing
I'm not 100% sure it just started working after what did l didn't change anything or l would of had to go back to it
I got the ultra slim and the clip sort of broke and it only plays some disc games .
I've never had the ultra slim PS3 l will have to find one on ebay for spares or repair to restore
Heh. Once you fix it or dust it new just flip it and sell it higher than you bought. I am sure you'd make a lot of money in this tech flipping business.

I'm not sure what the best method is. l the only thing l use is scratch remover polish, but if you Google it, there are many other ways to try, but I've not used them

I tried fixing my psp street by myself...it got repaired but in turn i got my bran new screwdriver tips stripped and now ibcant unscrew stuff...any solutions to reduce stripping of screwdriver tip??
If it's your screwdriver that's getting damaged at the end when under screwing screws make sure that you are using the right size. If you use the wrong size, it can end up damaging the screwdriver. Just double check next time working on something. I hope this helps

They grade the console's when they buy them from their appearance, then just plug it in and play discs on it for half an hour.
That's the limit of their testing as far as I'm aware. There's no way they open it up and check internally, it would take them way longer than half an hour.
I don't know how they can give a 2 year warranty based on just plugging it in 🤦🏻♂️
Concerning if I'm considering buying one. I need to know it won't break after a few hours playing or I end up flying across the room when I plug it in

I am unable to lift the motherboard as if it is stuck to the metal chassis and I am sure there are no screws left
I think it's the thermal paste holding it together, but do double-check and make there's no more screw holding it together, then keep trying to pull it apart slowly it will come apart hope this helps and good luck

Hello there if it's not got power to the disc drive and not taking in games make sure you have plug in all the cables to the disc drive. if it's got power check the arms on the infeed they might be in the wrong place when inserting the game hope this help

It powers the system clock, which keeps track of the current date and time even when PS3 is off. Keeping date and time is necessary for some tasks like timestamping files, and the battery can last around 10+ years
So what was the problem with the disk reader??
my console has the same problem, I can't insert a disc
I'm not 100% sure after taking it apart and putting it back together it started working sorry it's not much help
Just check ribbons an all is great then remove the disc drive an open under it to get to the gears an remove the largest gear on your right adjust all parts the way you would if you as to place in a CD the put you. Will hear the drive reset when that happens put back the big gear reassemble it in your ps3 then you should be good
