@@toddstropicals I’m exited, I just order 2 of them so I’m waiting to get them and I’ll film and unboxing a potting I’m going to hang them next to my prickly pear cactus I have like 4 types of euphorbia hue road or what have you so I’m positive it’ll do just fine within my Cali weather (: thanks for the tips
Greetings Todd! Man my mom has one of those that she has been growing for at least 8 years now and they just keep growing and branching out in all directions. She has hers in a hanging pot as well outside but she brings in in during the winter months and hangs it in a corner near a sun facing window. Yours is looking great, did you say that it was 2 years old?
I have no life, my plants are my life. With the exception of playing bass and jamming once in a while. Other than that I just sit in the garden taking care of my green friends.
Yes it roots very easily, I had several people say they're hard to grow...I do have an extremely endangered species from Socotra that's hard to grow, but I've managed to keep alive for three years now...lol
Hi! How do you know when the plant is thirsty? I found one for super cheap & don’t know too much about it. I’ve been watering it whenever it gets droopy, should I wait a little longer? I have it in very fast draining soil.
The media a great just what they like, I water them in summer if it's totally dry and let it dry between watering. And absolutely no water with temps under 60°F. And I give them a little sprinkle of time release fertilizer also.
They root by just laying it on damp (not soggy) planting media in small pots. You can have a portion in the media. Definitely an occasional misting good to help them root.
@Todd's Tropicals I received a partially rotted plant and salvaged 3 good tips. I let them dry a couple weeks until calloused over and potted 2 in small clay pots with gritty cactus soil about a month ago. I have them under a plant light 8 hours a day with bright sunlight the rest of the day at about 75°f and water about every 2-3 days when completely dry. They look good but I'm not sure if they're rooting yet. That's what I've always done with Zebrina and similar, but then I heard about laying them on the soil and can't decide if should risk trying that with the last piece.
I just ordered my first edithcolea grandis online. I know it’s the wrong time of year because they hate the cold and when it arrived it came dark purple. Is this just from stress from being cold? It seems healthy other than the color.
Yeah that's just anthocyanins in the plant that turn it purple from cool temps, cannabis does the same thing in cold weather. Whatever you do no water with temps under 60°f and very sparingly if you do.
Hi! I just had my first Edithcolea Grandis flower bloomed. What do you usually do after it bloomed? After 2 days the flower started to close. Do you cut it's stalk? Thank you
I did nothing, it just falls off on its own... Pick up the bloom and toss it or, the next one cut it and press it in a book to preserve it if you like. I'm not all to sure how well they dry however, I've never tried it.

Get one, they're easy I tell you, mine formed blooms but they blasted due to a cold snap.
Very cool cactus! That is quite the flower it grows. Thanks for all the great info on it.
Wow been so long havent visit your channel, love your channel as always todd.

It's a hard one to bloom any temps under 60 the blooms will blast. But it'll grow well for you and this cut is well rooted.
Wow i love this plant!
Im trying to grow it from seeds so you gave me good tips!
The flowers are so out of this world and interesting!
AWESOME! 😁
Did you see the Lophophora fricii pic I posted in community posts?
WOW it's awesome!
@@toddstropicals i will head over and take a look
Awesome, I love it!!!
It's a fun plant to grow!
Thanks for your video , very helpful
Thanks, they're pretty easy actually, hardest part is not over watering them and make sure they stay dry in cold weather.

Yeah two years old.
Thanks for introducing this cool plant to me Todd. Do you sell the cuttings?
Once in a while I do.
Hey PhalPal Todd you are a plant addict. How do you find time to care for such a arrangement of plants?
I have no life, my plants are my life. With the exception of playing bass and jamming once in a while.
Other than that I just sit in the garden taking care of my green friends.
Wow, that is one happy plant under your care. How do you propagate it? Just cuttings?

You have a green thumb for stinky flowers! Hahaha. 😁 Yeah, this one looks so healthy. 👍🏼

Is it best to root a small cutting by laying it on top of the soil and misting it or stick it in the soil and plant it?

@@toddstropicals Ok thank youu!
"before it gets too hot"
so you started your yardwork at 6 AM? 😉
5am actually... I have a routine I stick to.
How often does it bloom?
Off and on all summer then goes dormant for winter.
Hello! How do you let your cuttings root? Thank you!
I have, but not as of late. I have so many orchids I just don't have time to dedicate to nursing cuttings and seedlings.
I just lay them on damp media and give a spritz once in a while of water is all. Pretty easy.
@@toddstropicals Oh ok. Thanks! Great video by the way! :)
I so want one :( is none to buy in sweden where i live
Probably have to grow from seed!
Are you selling this variety and other huernia plant?
No, I don't sell plants.
are you willing to sell me a clipping from this?
I don't have enough some died out over winter, try paradise found nursery in Sarasota or Aridlands nursery in Tucson Arizona just Google them.
