  • We examine the CL50 index, the basketball card index, the high-mid-low indexes and most importantly the MJ Index on Cardladder to identify what's going on in the current sports card market and how to better decide which Michael Jordan basketball cards are worth pursuing at the moment. This video is not meant to provide investment advice, its simply a tutorial of how I use cardladder indexes to personally identify Jordan cards that meet a certain criteria that i would pursue purchasing.

Hi Cajun, I really like your channel. I love the no bs, show us the cards, show us the prices, and concise analysis. Your delivery is often straight to the point without alot of extra fat on the bone. I have learned about many cards/sets I didn't even know existed. Keep it going, peace from WA state.

Also I really like how you summed up your outlook as a collector and wish the loud overanalyzing, and under performing problem makers would take note....it went something like... don't sweat the things you can't alone fix, do you, grind hard, stack paper, PRIORITY'S FIRST, and if you did well enough to have some left, be grateful you live in a land and have the health that allows it to all be possible, and THEENN address your biggest problem, deciphering the next card.

Great information, as always. I'm that guy you spoke about, scrolling eBay, buying cards so fast I often skip even reading the descriptions. However I do check eBay comps, which is a good tool to confirm that you got the best price recently, but I've always wanted more. I've tried the eBay feature, as well as several apps, in regards to past performance graphs, but they're all lacking, some extremely. The other BIG problem, is when they put different graded cards, serial #'ed, and such on the same graph as base, which often literally renders the graph completely worthless, and even misleading to the point it's dangerous to use as a tool. So I look forward to using the few references you've mentioned, which appear to have it separated right, and have enough sales history that I hope win my confidence as I continue to buy the dip on an always rising caliber, (& $) of card. Thanks for doing what you do.

Great show Cajun!! I opted out of zion when I started bought jordan lots and singles for no more than $30 a piece or lot on ebay i had about 3500 raw jordan cards. I felt Jordan was about to spike hurry up and bought the couple hundred dollar inserts I had wanted. Stopped buying right before the big Jordan pump and dump around feb 2020 snagged some on comc that hadnt gotten around to raisin prices. Zion was who I initialy got into the hobby again to go after, but I just thought Jordan was safer. I have a real attachment to the cards i have in my pc sold a bunch of junk jordans, kept like the finest, stadium club, and the retro inserts. I watch content and the buzz and stuff around the hobby but I just have done my own thing. Bought into breaks was seriously lucky. I pulled justin herbert prizm silver rpa /99 my first break i was in and got the prizm silver for $35. Sniped cheap breaks out like a pro using math and a lil research and science. Quit doin breaks about 4 months ago. Ive predicted the future correct on everything until this point Im kinda like what do I do now. Im just doin grading and not buying but lookin for opportunties in the hobby. The risk is just way too high for breaks traffic is way down on ebay, and singles arent worth what they were. I sold asap all the modern and did the best i could turns out. Where do we realistically go from here? I know theres more people in my shoes right now than not.

87 and 88 Fleer, 90s inserts and UD autos before 2000. Best ones to have (and I have neither. 😭). Anything after 2000 have to be individually serial numbered.

Oh I’m not ever gonna decisively tell anybody else what to buy. I’ll say generally numbered MJ 90s stuff seems pretty safe to me depending on the price point. I’d check Cardladder sales history saba and see where that card last sold in that grade. 👍

The sports card hobby is a freakin joke/ waste of money. i feel bad for people that are so invested and try to act like its all good that the card market is crashing. I think 95% of card prices will go back to before covid prices or worse and that's when i will start buying again also Warren Buffit never bought any sports cards so people should stop using his quotes and comparing cards to stocks, just sayin lol

Thanks. Unfortunately I have 25-30 friends who became millionaires in the last 3-4 years bc of their Sportscards. I’m pretty sure I balance the good with the bad pretty well and speak the truth. It’s worked out pretty well for me. It obviously hasn’t for you and I’m sorry to hear that.

His problems are obviously deeper than sports cards. Because let's be real, if that's truly how you feel then why are you wasting your time watching anything about sports card investing, when you could be gaining some real useful knowledge tuned into Keeping up with the Kardashians? If it's your way of saying you made some bad investments, don't be bashful, lay it out there, we all have, but if you give up then you just lock in the loss for life.
