Cajun cardboard is a UA-cam channel featuring basketball card collecting and investing, fantasy basketball content and general historical and modern NBA Basketball content. There will also be SOCCER content available in a separate playlist on my channel entitled "100% Soccer" and the thumbnails for those videos will be marked as Soccer.
You can also find great my Cajun Cardboard content on the "Luka Nation Network" on UA-cam and all podcast platforms, including these two great weekly Monday and Friday episodes:
Every MONDAY MORNING (On Luka Nation Network YT Channel): I release a summary video of the top 100 highest selling basketball cards from the PWCC Weekly Auction that ended the night before.
Every other FRIDAY afternoon I publish a new Episode of EXPLORE THE CARD which is a highly detailed analysis of a single Michael Jordan insert or parallel card from the 1980s or 1990s including detailed pictures, population history, pricing, availability, and comparable cards. This is a must watch for any true Michael Jordan card collector.

I think a lot has to do with the fact that a lot of new people have entered into the hobby within the last 2-3 years and are probably discovering these cards for the first time. I think a lot of new collectors today realize that many of the really high-end inserts are out of their price range, so they are going after cool looking cards that they can reasonably afford

Many people like yourself have said collectors who got turned on to the chase of wax ripping/flipping are see a tremendous correction in the market. Divesting into 90s HOFers like Kobe/Jordan is a safer bet. It's why I vowed to never rip new wax the card manufacturers have lost their ways with a bazillion inserts/serialed/etc.
MJ 4 life baby! At 100 slabs and growing :)

The members choice MJ I do own @ a psa 10. I had a copy of another one that I sold during the boom of 2021. I didn't believe it but I sold it in auction for $400 and thought for sure I wasn't going to get paid. I did and I am sure with your little chart you will see my sale on there. lol

Dude, I always think of myself as the average collector, I'm the mean by far. I got back in the hobby 3 years ago through youtube videos. Saw so many videos where guys called my beloved junk wax "garbage"," waste of time", "worthless", ect. It was printed into the ground, therefore it was trash. I didn't care, it's the stuff I collected before, so it's the stuff I'm goona collect now. The big Jordan inserts were already way out of my range. The meltdowns, the scoring kings, the star power supreme, the list goes on. So I started back collecting the smaller inserts, the inside/outsides, tops gold, gold medallion, power in the key, ect. Those started getting too pricey, so I moved to my 2nd PC, Shaq. Collecting his cards in the same inserts as Jordan. Now his stuff is getting too pricey, so I'm going base (kinda been sniping good condition base the whole time). I think my progression in the hobby is exactly the same as tons of other guys. I've said it from the start when I got back in. Junk wax is a different animal, because of the print runs there is a massive variance in the price of raw cards because stuff in good condition is so damn rare, even base, it's a unicorn to find. Lots of the product in sealed boxes is bricked, even the stuff I ripped back then, some of it has bricked in the long boxes where it's sat for the last 30 yrs. There's literally tons of the stuff out there, but gradable stuff is a needle in a haystack. All the junk wax stars, Jordan, Kobe, Shaq, bird, magic, Olajuwon, ect will hold value in the future in high grade. Even with the print runs back then, because of that scarcity. You understand junk wax, the new collectors don't. They pay PSA 9 prices for raw cards. So as people slowly learn the differences, high grade junk wax prices will too. If I'm thinking it, most of the other collectors that are exactly like me are too.

I have bought maybe 500 various raw MJ cards and sell the ones I have dupes of. I have around 40 that I've narrowed down to for submitting to PSA for grading but being my first time I have been second-guessing myself and holding a high standard (zero flaws- no dings, flaking, scratches, etc.) for what I would feel comfortable submitting.

I have been saying the same thing buddy, its not only base cards but majority of Jordan’s cards are going up. Like I said I have been trying to purchase some high end stuff but most of them are going through the roof. I am thankful I purchased a lot of Jordan’s low pop items when I did because I feel the opportunity on getting a card for a reasonable price is gone for now. Anyways, keep up the good content Brian.

Yo the land line! Bahahhaaa….you got one of them joints you stick your finger in and spin the wheel or whatever. They got you poking your phone thinking about jeopardy. I seen one of them thangs in a black and white movie my grandmama was watching about 20 years ago. You like picked/hanging up on a brotha. That’s the “ima hit you later, PSA Jordan 10s for sheep”

I’m pretty sure….but this is a wild guess…there are waaaaay more of LeBron base cards and in variety than there are Jordan base in variety. You did the PSA 10 metals…I got a nuts and bolts PSA 10 for 140. The others are near a 1,000. Thanks for pointing this out.

i'd have no problem spending $150 on nearly any Jordan graded a 10...I could never sell it and be perfectly content...especially when i see stuff like Luka cards going for $15k+...I wonder if this coincided with Lebron breaking the scoring record and people suddenly got more interested? Regardless, $150 for a perfect card of the best player I ever saw play = no problem

Hey man great content as always. I love your channel I always love hearing your optimism about MJ and all of his cards. I would love to chat with you on a personal level to reveal some of my collection. You can see some examples of that on my own UA-cam channel. I’m not a contact creator but just shared my collection a few years back. I’m located in Houston not too far from you I would love to maybe have a sit down with you one day and chat about everything Jorden.

Sure thing bro I’ve been watching for a long time. I’m actually a collector and not into the whole flipping life. I own every single Jordan refractor except for the dye cut one of 74. I’ve held onto my collection for many years and kept it safe. I’m actually a music producer and spend most of my time traveling and playing music for people and writing songs for artists. Would love to have a chat with you. I’ll hit you up on IG and exchange numbers

It would be more accurate if you do your analysis on the base card and not on the Psa 10.
Psa 10 by itself is rare so some people who can afford the Psa will pay for it.
The hype should be based on the raw card not on the high card.

    • @cajuncardboard
      @cajuncardboard  Рік тому

I disagree vehemently. What do you suggest is absolutely incorrect and it is very difficult to find dependable data on raw cards because their condition varies so greatly from one to another it leads to unpredictable results and unreliable data.
