Footage of King Hassan II of Morocco reviewing a parade of 1,800 troops soon to embark to Syria to help defend the Golan Heights area from Israel.
The parade also marked the 17th anniversary of the formation of the Royal Moroccan armed forces.
The soldiers were equipped with new light weapons and dressed in full combat attire. They were led by General Abdeslam Sefrioui, formerly commander of the Royal Palace Guard.
After the inspection, the King, who was accompanied by his son, Crown Prince Sidi Mohamed, presented General Sefrioui with a flag.
Later, in an address to the troops, the King said that they were "convinced and conscious of their mission which is to defend the Arab nation alongside their brother'.
He said they also had an "Islamic mission" which consisted "especially of the return of Jerusalem and the recovery of Arab dignity". He added that another force could be sent for in the future.
The decision to send troops to Syria was first made in a nationwide broadcast in February 1973.
