Even with this clip, the climax of the film, you get the sense of its greatness, as the story leads up to this very moment. The girls worked so hard, losing sleep, stressing out, and all the while struggling through their adolescence. It reminds us of our innocence during youth before our adult years awake us from our dreams....

Next to Swing Girls (2004) and Fish Story (2009) is Linda Linda Linda (2005) the funkiest and most enjoyable Japanese teen music movie ever seen. All great movies by the way!!! :)
Great choices, I'd probably give Swing Girls the nod over Fish Story and Linda Linda Linda. If I had a problem with Linda, is it's pacing issues and that's a tiny flaw. But Bae Doona is the main reason to go out of the way to see this film, she's fantastic in it. Definitely a top 5 performance from her, in a less experience actresses hand that character could have been annoying. Some other great choices about Teens and Music, are Sing Street from the same guy who directed Once and Begin Again, the songs from that film are class. Also a Swedish film called WE are The Best about young teen girls setting up a punk band. Both are must see films.

Swing Girls is great, Waterboys of course. love all the movies from Shinobu Yaguchi, they all have 'heart,' for want of a better term. Recently discovered "My Secret Cache" ua-cam.com/video/L5rIZlDEFUQ/v-deo.html Adrenaline Drive (1999) has been a favorite, even though it's pretty conventional and doesn't particularly stand out for any reason. ua-cam.com/video/JDCwGLxruww/v-deo.html& Even his newer release, Survival Family was an interesting watch.
Definitely top 3 for sure, she's the main reason that Linda Linda Linda is great. It's her most loveable performance of her career, I'd probably still go with The Girl at my Door as her best performance imo. She's heartbreaking in that film at times. I do think her best performances are from the early part of her career, like Barking Dogs Never Bite and Take Care of my Cat from the early 00's. She's great in Sympathy for Mr Vengeance too and did have a soft spot for As One as I do love a good sports biopic. Some films do waste her, mostly higher budget affairs. But she was good in Cloud Atlas and The Host. I haven't seen Sense 8. She reminds me a little of Rooney Mara, fantastic in smaller films but totally misused or badly cast in blockbusters. I've heard some Korean film reviewers saying she's not that big a star in Korea.

I actually rented this movie at Blockbuster many years ago and I loved watching this movie back when I was like 10 years old. Sometimes the song will play in my head and I’ll look up the video. Then it hits me that it’s been like a life time ago since I watched this movie in my room during my summer vacation super excited that I got my turn to pick a movie when I went with my parents to rent movies at blockbusters. The nostalgia is real 🥲
Saw it on Titanic Filmfest in Hungary. This flic is awesome -- and not in the "I-shout-awesome-at-anything-what-does-not-suck-for-5-seconds" way! The Korean girl is just brilliant. I rarely recommend a movie to every person I meet, but this one is definetly one of those.
Watched this for the sake of less than 5 minute appearance of Kenichi Matsuyama confessing his love to the singer in Korean. The movie is indeed worth watching 😍

Saw it on Titanic Filmfest in Hungary. This flic is awesome -- and not in the "I-shout-awesome-at-anything-what-does-not-suck-for-5-seconds" way! The Korean girl is just brilliant. I rarely recommend a movie to every person I meet, but this one is definetly one of those.
