D&D with 2 players and no DM, Is It Possible?

Can you play Dungeons and Dragons with two people and no dungeon master? An interesting idea and possibly one to try out, but how exactly would that work? Is there a work-around to this question? And why does it have to be D&D at all?

I feel like you're looking for a system that runs off cards to generate prompts for play. You could have a deck for creatures, dungeon layouts (maybe each room is a card?), NPCs, etc.
Or a computer game. You do you haha
