Spent the last 40 years working with engineers and probably the most intelligent guy I’ve got to spend time with was a timber faller for three decades. Guy had more practical knowledge than any two or three average guys. He had a degree from the university of Minnesota as well but anyway. Three decades ago he hooked me up with a stihl 066 that was stock except for the jets (we cut on the west coast in the Sierras) and dropped a tooth on the sprocket. I won the large at the time local contest with that 66 in my class (under 7ci), plus the over 7 class and 2nd in the hotsaw all because of the chain my buddy hooked me up with was lighter, thinner and had his special cutting angles he perfected while on the job. I cut a lot of logs with that saw before I gave up summer logging. Point being, I think it’s more chain and having the right balance than pure HP. That 66 beat out a dozen 090s that had all kinds of porting and custom exhaust but the all ran heavy chain plus they didn’t have the RPM. Back then fast saws were just coming out. Anyway, love you channel and your great attitude! 👍🏼
Awesome stuff and a great share! There’s a hole heck of a lot of information in this post if a guy can really read between them lines… that’s why power is very important having just enough power and the right sprocket to make that faster chain speed is going to make you cut faster than the other guy’s!!! And you can win a race!!! God Bless you old timer! It’s all about the love of the saw’s and the timber! It’s a beautiful life to have gotten to cut on the west coast timber.,,I was an east coast kid but I worked Washington to Oregon over two summer’s a couple decades ago! ❤️😉👍💪
you were the life of the party at sawfest so I think you'll have a blast doing more races, the only problem is that you were already a force to be reckoned with there, now you're getting the inside scoop from all the real pros so you'll probably grow exponentially. Hopefully the rest of us can keep up enough to get gapped instead of lapped lol
Great job For being in a chain saw timber jack event Keep having fun in what we all love to do in timber sports Wish I lived closer to be in that event With my good friends Is Meland Jason Lentz and Mike Slingerlin Ed H
This is so cool to see! I’m new to the chainsaw world myself but grew up riding and building anything with a motor that I could hop up! I help a crew that runs 600cc sport bike motors in sprint car frames and you MUST “gas down” your carbs after running methanol/ethanol through aluminum carbs. I’ve seen the methanol eat through the bowls if left in too long after a race.
Just keep doing what you're doing boss and everything else will fall in place, love the video and like always God bless you your family and all the subscribers with love peace and saw Grease Jay small
@@novicelumberjack awwww man. I’m so curious! If you ever want to brave it I’m all eyes, but I don’t know if there’s some sort of racers code you’d be breaking hahah 😂
VERY good recounting and self discovery. I’m just glad that you’re having a good time and lots of fun. Because: “if you’re not having fun, what’s the point”. That’s just what I say and have said for about a decade.
Great overview. Beautiful job. Love to see your first at bats. Makes me feel like I can compete 😂😅 keep up the great work brutha you can do anything .!!❤️🔥🦾☀️
I think this journey, if you continue down it- could be one of the most interesting stories of UA-cam in the chainsaw world and probably to others as well. I can see so many different topics and videos in your future. And sumbitch if you don't look good doing it in one of my hats!! 😂👍👍 I'm excited to see where you go with this my friend.
250!!!! Lucky guy! I share a love of the reds now as well haha. I don’t know if you care, I’ll watch anyway, the background music is meh. I don’t watch smittys because of the background music. This is just my opinion and I understand the documentary application. This is purely intended as feedback. Thanks for taking all the time for these videos, I do appreciate
I share your struggle of living a world where I feel like I'm surrounded by idiots or if I could be more polite, ignorant people. It's always nice to find a community of individuals who are interesting and challenge me intellectually. Not saying we have to agree on everything, just that we can have intelligent debate. I have also found that kindness goes a long way and when you find both together, it's a beautiful thing.
I think there's some sort of drama around that. Something about Penn State creating it for everyone to use, and then Stihl took it and licensed it. Now Penn State is in a lawsuit over it...something like that. Bunch of BS.
War Eagle!!! That AU subscriber is me!

Ooooh what a tease with those cylinders 😅😮

Nope. I was already warned by some folks looking out for me. Some things need to stay secretive.

See if you can find an old Oregon high tooth chain . Hard to find and kind of expensive but well worth it
I just sold 14 of them. Yeah...I know....
@@novicelumberjack you got any more of them , I would be interested in buying some
