Amit Naamani He has an amazing song writing ability. His use of pros and metaphor. To be perfectly clear and somewhat ambiguous at the same time while also alluding to, or blatantly using lines from different songs combining them into his lyrics giving a sense of how long he spent working on his craft is nothing short of inspiring.
And what sucks is they split GA because he thought they couldn't nake anything as good as 59, Slang or HW again. And what's really sucks is, he just doesn't understand how good he is.
Remarkable to see! Mr. Thomas is the king of depressing ballads! Giving credit to TGA is amazing! Nice to see a musician give credit to the greatest band ever!
Just saw Gaslight tonight and someone heckled him to play this song and he referenced this video and i couldn't believe i didn't mishear. Come home to find it, awesome.
Brian Fallon and Rob Thomas are two of my favorite artists of all time. This is extremely awesome, I don't have the words to describe how I feel about this
every time i see one of these posted, i find myself a bit surprised that Rob Thomas actually "gets" it, bc even though i loved the first 2 matchbox 20 albums (they came out around when i was 13-16 and my music tastes at the time were unrefined and unashamed) i've never really felt that way listening to many of his songs since...but i just gotta assume i've been wrong for 20 years, and i always friggin love to see that he covered this again once in awhile
plushe adventure that's the perfect way to describe how I felt the first time I heard Rob Thomas covering this. Stone pony final show tonight! (Better not be the final show ever, though! )
Damn you, I liked it and than you reminded me of my own misery with this song. Your right, high five. Glad I got past it 13 years ago. But I love how this song reminds me of wasted emotions.
There's a "Mr. Jones" aspect to this song I like and I think you hit upon it well. Brian Fallon can obviously write. Always write by the moon, as it travels from heart to limb to pen. I noticed you went back to Gail. For your story, for your ears, maybe? Good cover.
I'd rather be listening to Grammy-Award Winning 1999 Hit Smooth By Santana featuring Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty off the multi-platinum album Supernatural
I NEVER comment on videos. I totally appreciate the effort and the nod to Gaslight...but I don't think this did it justice. Such a beautiful song...and Rob has a pretty voice. He forgot a verse. My daughter's first show was the painkillers tour. When she met him at the venue and he asked who her favorite singer was she said, without missing a beat, "Frank Turner". He laughed his ass off. Such a gracious and good guy. If you are gonna cover a song (which is risky)...it better measure up. I'm sure that he and GA appreciate being honored in this way...and I like Rob Thomas...I just cant get behind this one. Everyone is a critic though, just my 2c. Can't wait til there are shows again and Brian is back in ATL.
… You can tell Gayle, if she calls, That I'm famous now for all of these rock and roll songs. And even if that's a lie, she should've given me a try. When we were kids on the field of the first day of school. I would've been her fool. And I would've sang out your name in those old high school halls. You tell that to Gayle, if she calls. … And you can tell Jane, if she writes, That I'm drunk off all these stars and all these crazy Hollywood nights. And that's a total deceit, but she should've married me. And tell her I spent every night of my youth on the floor, Bleeding out from all these wounds. I would've gotten her a ride out of that town she despised. You tell that to Janey, if she writes. … But boys will be boys and girls have those eyes That will cut you to ribbons sometimes. I heard she lives in Brooklyn with the cool, Goes crazy over that New York scene on 7th Avenue. But I used to wait at the diner, a million nights without her, Praying she won't cancel again tonight. And the waiter served my coffee with a consolation sigh. You remind Anna, if she asks why. Tell her it's all right. … You know it's hard to tell you this. Oh it's hard to tell you this. Here's looking at you, Kid.
How in the world is matchbox twenty a famous band and the gaslight anthem isn’t 🤷🏻♂️ the only person who can sing a Brian Fallon song is Brian F*cling Fallon!! Rob is very lucky he didn’t get arrested for this!! We have a crime on tape
TGA is so good. One of the most underrated bands of all time.
Brian Fallon is in the stage that people are covering his songs and it sounds amazing...he is the modern age Dylan..

One of my favorite songs from my favorite artist who just happened to share my January 28th birthday 😍
Remarkable to see! Mr. Thomas is the king of depressing ballads! Giving credit to TGA is amazing! Nice to see a musician give credit to the greatest band ever!

One of my favorite artists covering one of my favorite bands?! 🙏🏼❤️

Right!?
MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY!
Sooooo good. Even if he forgets a line at the end!! haha
🥀This song is really awesome🥀
"You remind Anna, if she asks why"
i can't tell if I love it or hate it.
You love it 😋
This is amazing 👍
Incredible.
My neighborhood hates me for how loud I play this song cruising the hood in my car, I have no regrets. Here's looking at you kid
he totally kicked ass here. even if i didnt hear one stroke on the piano.
It’s not bad, but its way too happy. The beauty of the original is the nostalgic misery.
James Green I actually think he did a great job. Of course nobody can do it like Brian though 😊
Damn you, I liked it and than you reminded me of my own misery with this song. Your right, high five. Glad I got past it 13 years ago. But I love how this song reminds me of wasted emotions.
I don't mind the merrier notes behind it
do fucking better
@@leoniesalmon1203 did your nurse type that reply for you, to stop you from mashing your face into the keyboard?
🥀Awesome Song
Not bad at all! But he's missed all the melanchonic and nostalgic feelings of the original...

who's here because of Gaslight @ The Stone Pony 08/17/18?
good cover, but he makes it way to happy
I'd rather be listening to Grammy-Award Winning 1999 Hit Smooth By Santana featuring Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty off the multi-platinum album Supernatural
This is my favorite comment… ever
@@amygerhardt3250 thank you. Let me guess, you were at the Detroit show tonight
@@WesleyNile yes I was. Lol I saw this video when it first came out and had to revisit it.

Mythic video pull
Great rendition, but it made me want to cobra kai my 15 year old emotions of a past life, with a smile.
Right back at you.
Love Brian Fallon love Rob Thomas!!!
Brian has the most perfect way of broadcasting the melancholy

This guy has never had his heart broken like Brian has. That's not his fault cut him some slack lol
That’s not totally true. Listen to Rob’s Rest Stop, Hand Me Down, Back 2 Good, and You Won’t Be Mine.
The Gaslight Anthem!!! F-ya!
homie forgot the last line and told anna to tell gayle some shit at the end
......ok now hear the original.

Rob Thomas is sucking up this song!
Britney spears
This is not a good cover of this song it totally misses the point of the song
His favorite song but he can't even get the lyrics right? Garbage. The original is so much better.
Please. Dont.. Ever.. Again...... Hurts.. Ears... No tempo or tune...
Kthanxbye.
