How will The New York Islanders attempt at moving forward and making their team more competitive in 2024-25? How can they bounce back and move back into a playoffs spot after not making the 2024 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. I examine the past season, team roster and determine their best plan to improve the team. We address NHL Trade Rumours regarding New York Islanders trade rumours and how they should proceed on that. Buyout lee, heard SJ likes jgp. JGP 4 a 2nd rnd pick. Nxt, two 2nds and Wally for Pinto. Poluck and 2nd to Jets for Ehlers. 29 for a 1st pairing D We keep our 1st rnd pick.
As long as Lou is running things the Isles will be stuck in limbo

As an isles fan,i would think wahlstrom eill not be back,Holmstrom and Maclean will be signed and i believe the situation with Ishkakov is unless hes at the very least promised an opportunity with the big club,he will go home! As for the UFA's, Clutter i think will go elsewhere and Martin maybe retire,i dont see either brought back,thanks for your service guys,you will be missed! Maybe Aho is resigned l,Bortuzzo and Salo i would inagine are gone,especially Bortuzzo and i woyld imagine Reilly is resigned!

Lou’s exit presser was promising. Admitted he prefers loyalty but said it won’t get in the way of team success. I think both jgp and Lee are out. Combining their contract with Engvall’s, our 3rd line is paid 15 mil and combined for 98 points. Those 3 players combined had what nylander did by himself. Just not good enough for what they’re paid. Having no cap space on an aging team, the first step in moving forward is to shed off the money that isn’t producing.
Isles fans that rip Lou really show they don’t understand much about the sport. He took over a team coming off a terrible season and their star player walked in free agency. Made a phenomenal coaching hire and went to back to back Eastern conference championships against an all time great team. Every move he made for role players, Martin, Komerov, Fillpula was ripped by fans and media. he given out a few too long contracts but you could do way worse then Lou. Very hard to retool on the fly.
Karlstrom signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Islanders on Tuesday, per PuckPedia.
Goals against going up was due to Lambert trying for more offense while sacrifting defense and largely because of their defense being decimated the first galf of the season by injuries!
With a old school guy like Lou running the show, Islanders won’t be going anywhere soon
JG would be a great mentor for Ridley on Ottawa. The Islanders would have to retain salary though.
Know they wouldn't, they'd give a draft pick just like they did with Bailey!

Time for a major rebuild. Dump Lamoriello and get a real coach. Any player can be moved. For the last 3 seasons the Isles have been a sub 500 team that barely made the playoffs ion2 of the seasons.
Patrick is calling the shots, Lou is in a mentoring role. Lee needs to go, do you attach a #1 to get out from under that 7X2 left with SJ, or do you buyout. Thats the first order of business.😢😢
I’d hope with the extra 2nd rounder Lou will use it to make a trade for a player. I’d rather a season with getting the kids some experience and maybe finishing the bottom of the league. Than make the playoffs and lose in first round again.

Lou is allergic to free agents...he has a lot of rotten fruit to shift, finding buyers will be a challenge.
Great Video, as usual, Mike. I don't think that The Islanders are going to do all the things they need to do. I think that the team is still going to try & get to the Finals, rather than get younger, etc. Let me know if you agree & what you think
Mayfield broke his foot in game 1 blocking a shot and played half the season on it b4 going out and finally having surgery,he will be fine!
Also I’m pretty sure he Pelech & Pulock all have NTC or modified NTC. I like the idea of trading or buying out Lee. Also Brock Nelson might be a good trade candidate for the right person or package
@@mikemallimo9286 in order to trade Lee, they would have to either retain salary or give a sweetener maybe both. As for buying him out, very costly. They can trade Brock and likely get a nice return, problem is that's a very big part of their limited offense to lose! They already are in need of a top 6 F as well as a 200 fr D man.
They not only dont have the assets,they would have a problem trying to create the cap room! They only have $6+ mil in cap space and have several of their own to sign! Guentzel and Marner are pipe dreams considering what they woukd get and i dont want Guentzel,hes 29!
