    First time I’ve made a video like this, let me know what you think of the format! Also, if you want me to give you advice on your rolling or competition footage join Jiu Jitsu Lab: www.skool.com/jiujitsu

      Do you think you can use a full Nelson as a submission if you cranked it?

      Yeah this video was great. I really enjoyed it. I can see that this series has alot of potential would love to see more of these. Could even get video submissions from viewers or patreons. A discord show or something like that would be awesome series to watch.

    This is really helpful for me to see as a White Belt.
    Honestly, this is the type of footage that is SO crucial to such an enormous portion of the JiuJitsu community.
    Watching championship Blackbelt is great for learning what to do... but so much of BJJ in the moment is heuristics; which you NEED a grasp of what not to do in order to develop properly.
    Props Ishmael for doing this.
    ON your Cardio question, rolling is great Cardio but it will not develop your capacity in an acute and measurable way. To really understand whether your cardio is getting better I would really recommend learning about Anaerobic Zones, how they feel and differ from each other (running, cycling, swimming, rowing... pick something that is easy to control and recover from)... Analogous to running, if I know what Zone 2 / 3 cardio feels like for an hour, I will eventually build my endurance and efficiency there. Taking that understanding of your resources onto a matt builds incredible confidence and can in a way detach you from the chaos of the moment.
    I have so many people call time outs on me, before I've ever really began to try; this I believe is similar to Ricksons idea of invisible JiuJitsu.

    • @JoshRichBJJ
      @JoshRichBJJ  3 місяці тому +1

      Thanks for the tip on cardio, it makes sense to actively measure it, since it's hard to tell just by rolling. And I'm happy to hear you found the conversation valuable!

    The closed guard calf slicer should be legal because it makes breaking the closed guard more difficult without threatening a submission. The one on bottom closed guard with a body triangle can also do a modified twister like the one that submitted Anthony Pettis by extending his leg and not get calf sliced. Either ban the body triangle or allow calf slice.

    If this spaz who doesn't even read the rules or prepare cardio, goes for muffles in scrambles, doesn't know how to even keep hip connection gets to be a ADCC pro that would be a crazy come up

    Dude when he was talking about the entry into the legs, there was no space for the entry into the legs. He should’ve just defend it to take down. I think your buddy should just take it a little slow try to understand what’s going on. understand side position side guard, half guard Understand knee slice positions

  • @jaimeortega4940

    Another weird DQ. This one it seemed like he "deserved" his DQ because he knowingly admitted to breaking the rule but wasn't stopped by the ref. Why did his opponent pull guard with a figure 4 body leg lock? That seems counterproductive almost like a stalemate move? I guess from an "anything goes" (pretty much) perspective of freestyle wrestling with some BJJ it just strikes me as a lot of additional rules for white belts.

    10 mins in my advice would be to fight smarter. Try not to get DQ'ed or make moves without having a solid position. Then your game will improve.
    You do have some solid technique, but your fighting style is too impatient. You should have a bit more conservative fighting style. Exploit each of your opponents mistakes and do not give him any opportunity to improve his position. Do not make moves if the risk of losing is higher, than gaining one or making a sub.

  • @jaimeortega4940
    @jaimeortega4940 3 місяці тому

    Wow! I sort of agree with your "white belt" buddy that seems like a pretty small hair to split for a DQ? In the real world you aren't going to be thinking in those terms. Hmm.
