@ I bet it is.. as Sir William has ‘touched buffers’ with famous engines at Carnforth, do you have or have seen any photos of her coupled to any mainline engines like Pendennis Castle or Sir Nigel?
It was great visiting Whitwell and Reepham Railway. I loved my driving experience aboard Sir William McAlpine, and a ride in the Brake van. It's a shame I had to leave early. I have great admiration and respect to all who volunteer restoring and keeping the Railway, Locos going. May there be many years of enjoyment ahead.
It just keeps the battery topped up when it's been sitting a while. Whilst at the MSLR it was often fired up and used for a single shunt which didn't give the Dynamo enough time to recharge the battery.
Brilliant start to 25 Lawrie. Hope you continue to deliver amazing content over the next year. You definitely didnt fail last year. Must say, buying a loco isnt a stupid idea, but rather brilliant
I just to apologise for the comment about Oil not cleaned I just didn’t want you getting Comments from environmental activists giving you grief other than that I hope you and your friends and family have had a wonderful Christmas and new year and All the best for the Restoration of Ruston 303 and the Ruston 165 and your Magnificent Ruston 48 and all your other projects and thoroughly enjoyed your videos especially the ones of Jupes which has inspired me to get a model of my jupiter despite being a slightly different Fire engine i.e a Scania
I love your videos of heritage railways and their locomotives and rolling stock. Happy New Years. Wow 200 years for this most wonderful British invention. Good old fashioned oil cans are hard to come by. Lot of cheap stuff out there these days.
Been watching everyone's rail 200 whistle off's and they have been brilliant. I think West Somerset did steam and diesel whistle off. I do believe some whistle off's occurred in other parts of the world as well. Keep up the great work Lawrie. 2025 is going to be great for railways.
It’s hard to tell for someone like me across the pond just how small the 48 is… until it’s coupled to that brake van!!! Absolutely awesome Lawrie and team, happy 2025!🎉
Looks like you had a great start to the new year despite the weather , I liked the class 20 on the mini lay-out too 👍 🎉🎉 l was the last guard to work a rake of three mk2's from Norwich to Gt Yarmouth & back with a class 56 on the front & a class 20 on the rear , all the best for 2025 !
@@lmm glad to have ben there, really wish id still be in the country if that possible future visit to mangapps comes to fruition but, if it does, im sure you'll love John and our team. and of course our infinite supply of 04s and 03s
Happy New Year Lawrie. I've said it before, but I'll say it again 😅 "Don't you go changing...." I.hppe we can catch up somehow in 2025. I'm road tripping to Snowdonia including (obviously 😂) the WHR the first week in August with Ti'FourTwo, so if by chance you're anywhere near North Wales around then ?
I’m really curious what this affinity for old diesel locomotives. There’s no magic. Steam is so beautiful and depends on its engineer and fireman to operate and to live. A diesel has no spirit.
Well, that was a sponsor ad that actually amused me!
Thank you
How long before Tom leaves the team for Hollywood?
'Liquid Dinosaur'. Spat my beer out 🤣
Glad you approve
@@lmm I think they are plants (or algae at best ?)

Fantastic start to 2025 Lawrie.
Sir William Mcalpine looks so clean and pristine that the engine looks just like the O gauge model scaled up to 1:1 😆.
It's great isn't it!
6:52 you forget how small a 48DS is until it’s coupled to a SECR Brakevan.. It’s like coupling a Terrier to a Mk1
I've got a photo of the 48 shunting a mk1. That's even more silly
@ I bet it is.. as Sir William has ‘touched buffers’ with famous engines at Carnforth, do you have or have seen any photos of her coupled to any mainline engines like Pendennis Castle or Sir Nigel?
This made my day a bit happier from the sad news that britt allcroft (the crater of thomas and Friends) has died. 😢
I heard that Britt Allcroft had passed away - but it was Reverend W Awdry who created Thomas the Tank Engine
Yes very sad - certainly got a lot of people into the hobby
@@keithgale2596yeah but if it wasnt for her the show might have never exsisted
@@keithgale2596Rev.W.Awdry created the railway series
I'm not even from Europe and I happened to see a news article on a certain train fan on the BBC News website. Congrats!
It was a wonder full day, me and my friend couldn't believe it when we realised we'd spent 8 hours there! Loved featuring using in the video.
Thanks for spending the day with us!
I lost it at "I want to be paid to read things", "But, you can't read". Probably the best sponsor spot on UA-cam!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Wasn't scripted and we lost it after that 😂
Cant wait for more content, happy new year and Rail 200! 🎉
Same to you!
Loads of exciting stuff lined up

Thank you, it was quite a good write up!
Happy rail200 everyone!!!🎉
Happy Rail200!
I love the solar panel on the Ruston! What a lovely loco (Lawries Lovely Loco!)
It just keeps the battery topped up when it's been sitting a while.

10:50 I love how the headlight visibly dims when the horn is being sounded 😂
High power horn 😂
love the ruston
Me too!
HNY Lawrie hope '25 is a healthy one for you and prosperous for the channel. R200 will be lots of fun.

Splendid show old bean, Happy new year to you, Loz and The Brewster!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I must say starting up my diesel car isn't half as entertaining as starting Sir William. All the best for 2025 to Lawrie and co.

3:46 Best integration for a sponsor ever on LMM
Thank you!
4:44 his pause and damning "anyway" was so funny, would NOT be mad to see him in a video again dare I say potential cohost
Tom has been in a fair bit, and will be in more moving forward.
What a way to start rail 200 have you got loads of things planed for the year a head
Lots of exciting stuff!
Happy 200th!
And to you
Never noticed before, but Lawrie's Ruston has one bent rear buffer. Makes me wonder what the hell hit it hard enough to bend that in the past.
We've wondered that too!
Very nice video...
Thank you very much!
Great video
Thank you!
You were on the BBC!!!!
It's not a bad article!
Yes...yes..yes..LMM
I agree
was meant to go to swanage for rail 200!
Lots of exciting events for rail 200!
Holy sponsoring everyone now
Pleased to jump on the bandwagon
@lmm you definitely deserve the sponsorship to keep things running
Could you try and do a video at lakeshore Railroad at south marine park in the north east?
I can try
PB&A was like yeah I’m done I’ll see you all later
It was good to see it out the shed!
It was raining, and I needed it back in the shed for more paining that afternoon.

Maybe. I've managed to put Jan together so far 😂
did I miss a video of the wheel getting fixed of the ruston 48?
It's to be released!
The blue Hudswell is very attractive. What engine is in that? It looks like a straight eight.
It's a Gardener straight 8. Can't remember the exact model
How come trains at W&RR stop do short of the Huddersfield at the far end?
We don't go anywhere near Huddersfield
@ lol wow what a terrible autocorrect 😅 I meant to say the buffer stop at the far end?
@bwilesuk safe distance away basically
Are you gonna fit it with train brakes eventually Laurie
Maybe. I've a vac pump sat in The Shed, but perhaps that'll go on the 165.
Just a suggestion Lawrie, if you had done "driver for a fiver" you would have got just as many punters. And raised far more noney
Wasn't about money. It was about giving people a good start to the year
@lmm ok fair enough and well done. I assumed you were trying to assist funds of the railway. Have a good year my friend!
It can haul passengers even though it's not vacuum brake fitted?
Brake van has an independent brake which will stop it and loco
Lawrie you should make a Holy suit like a Grand Prix driver and buy an old race car and decorate it in holy livery
Hahahaha
Will the Hudswell be makng an appearance on the passenger trains this year?
Hopeful, it's still undergoing commissioning works
3:25 missed a bit
He did a good job!

Hello!
why did previous day's workup take longer than expected - is there a vid of it?

I swear it sounds like you're saying "McCowpie"
Mcalpine 😂
I’m really curious what this affinity for old diesel locomotives. There’s no magic. Steam is so beautiful and depends on its engineer and fireman to operate and to live. A diesel has no spirit.
Oh diesels have plenty of spirit.
It's a glorious little machine. So simple and so much charm
You are Whistling South Productions UA-cam page
Oh part of the compilation
Yes his 200 one the latest video
So does he litterally own that ruston or does the railway own it he just runs it?
I own three of them. You can find the others across the channel in the Loco Diaries.
Very convincing advert???? ( possibly???)
It would be interesting to see if Alfred could pull the Mk1 in the background???
I tried to make a play list with all the whistles ua-cam.com/play/PL_QcbomkPJiw6S7-K6uu2f_4R-i5-9E6t.html&feature=shared
Lots of places did it

Good work - and thank you!
u must be the only railway what did driver for 1 pound other would be 25 and up lol
