Love all your pieces. I personally don't mind imperfections in glazes on the pieces. I see it as an extension of the artist's personality and creativity. I don't mind pin holing either. Imperfections in the glaze doesn't deem them nonfunctional. I drink my coffee from the same $85 mug every morning which I purchased from a potter and it has crazing on the inside of the mug. She would probably be mortified if she knew her piece crazed after it arrived and I used it. But I love it and the glaze hasn't chipped and I haven't died from any bacterial infections! 😁 People have eaten and drank from unglazed pots for millennia. I hate that myth about unglazed pottery and how bacteria can harbor in crazing or pinholes. And I feel like more and more people who purchase pottery from potter's understand that and actually embrace the imperfections in their unique piece of functional art. Happy potting everyone!
Thank you so much! I love your perspective on imperfections. I always tell my students that perfection is boring! It's also so interesting the topic you raised regarding glaze and food safety. I had never considered the fact that our current standards of food safety with pottery are in the context of modern glaze materials. We can trust the clay! ❤❤❤ Thanks for watching, S! I always love your comments!
