Hey Dusan are you interested in building an F-8 crusader from academy in 1/72 scale? The detail is wonderful and the aircraft is underrated and shadowed by th f-4 phantom. Great aircraft and you would make it great too!

I've been watching these vids for the past week. I've always wanted to get into this hobby, but not confident enough in my detail skills to do it and equipments costs hurt lol. Great channel and top-notch work!

just get a hobby knife and a airfix starter set and you should be good. if you're starting the model doesn't need to be good.

Beautiful job as always! These videos are an example of how quick-cut, wordless, instructional presentations can teach so much. I get tired of wordy, rambling instructors who um and ah their way through long vids that, at best, give us no better instructions and examples in an hour than ScaleModelAircraft provides wordlessly in under 20 minutes! Even a beginner with the right tools and a few of these videos under their belt ought to be able to come up with very presentable work.
    Well done all around!

You should be careful with academy... This is a perfect kit you had, but I think this is an early piece of the product's production. I heared that they buy the frame, which can produce 50 000 models safely, and they produce approx 600 000 with it... And according to that the late model kits are less accurate. This is a rumor, but I experienced it too. One of my buddies bought a mig-29 1/48 from them, and he had everything in place, and I bought the same kit 2 years later well... mine was not that bad either, but significantly worse than his.

This is a new tool Phantom! Excellent kit... 1/48 Mig-29A/UB is older tool from 1993. All the best! Dusan.

I am 47 years old I have been doing modeling on and of trough out my life. I remember the 1970’s kits. The aircraft painted as display was not even close to today’s modeling. I guess now we have better technology or something..I don’t know. But this model is for display somewhere other than inside your house, maybe like your local library war section book aisle.I really don’t know. All I know it’s a wonderful piece of art.

i hope the decals for this kit work better than the ones for the F/A-18 because they resisted all attempts to stick to the model, i used a gloss coat actually i coated the kit twice with gloss and used Micro Sol & Set Solutions and still they peeled off, even after i gave them two coats of flat clear from a spray can!

Modeling has come a long long way since I build models in the early eighties as a kid. I remember seeing the finished model pictures on the kit box and telling myself that I wish I could one day build a perfect model like the one they showed in the model kit box. Now that I see how awesome and realistic the models are assembled, the pictures on the old model kits look unrealistic and tacky.

USS Roosevelt? That's a ship that hasn't existed for close to 40 years now. It was the second Midway Class aircraft carrier, the first unit of the three to be scrapped (1980). It was scrapped first because it didn't undergo the comprehensive rebuild and refit that its sister ship, USS Midway, did so consequently the Roosevelt was in VERY poor condition by the mid-1970s and the US Navy decided to retire it early after conducting experiments with Harriers (AV-8A model) in 1977(?).
The last Phantom assignment aboard that ship was 1970-1975, this very squadron depicted in the model. They were flying F-4N's (upgraded B-model rebuilds) at the end before the transitioned to the F-14 in 1976. Afterwards, VF-84 transferred to the Nimitz in 1977. In 1979, VF-84 participated in the filming of the movie, "The Final Countdown," which was the motion picture debut of the F-14 Tomcat, WELL before "Top Gun" (1986).

    Dusan I have some questions:
    1. The big decals: Are a some kind of trick to save the surface detail when we put the decal over it? I mean, all the rivet lines disappear, or shows like that.
    2. Could yoy show (in a list) the youtube music themes that you use in each video?
    Thanks !!

    • @ScaleModelAircraft
      @ScaleModelAircraft  6 років тому +1

Well, you can use solvent like Mr.Softer and Mr.Setter for decals. But for really large thin decals avoid using to much solvent. And leave the decals after the application of Mr.Softer. They can melt and conform on surface nicely so you will be able to see the rivets and panels. For thicker decals you need more persuading and repeat method. Toothpick can help. All the best! Dusan.

Dusan, 1/72 scale kits usually have a hard time really delivering on detail....mot so on this kit, it beautiful !! In fact all of the recent 1/48 & 1/72 kits recently released by Academy have in fact changed my mind on that. As I've witnessed over the last 3 years your excellent skills help tremendously, however, as I said, these kits look like from a standpoint of design, high attention to detail along with what appears to be a fit like that of Bandai's snap kits which any modeler would appreciate !
Thanks for sharing and all the very best to you,
    Wakeman
