I think heat from the steel planter, less sunlight and poor air flow could be the problem for your boxwood. I’m really enjoying watching your videos 🌺

The boxwood are very nice and dresses up that side of the house, as long as you do not mind the extra chore to trim them.

Really turned out beautiful!!!❤ I am dealing with thousands of boxwood leafminers on my green mountain boxwood which is just getting to the size I wanted. Last year it was attacked with boxwood psyllids..ugh!!!! So I have hung yellow sticky traps in and around the shrub for now and I was told by Missouri botanical gardens when visiting there the other day, that once I don’t see the leafminers flying around …probably in May…then I need to prune back and make sure there is a tarp underneath to collect all the trimmings and dispose in trash. So fingers crossed on this one!! Would surely hate to loose this!!

Roxana ~ This is one of your best videos...👏🏼👏🏼🌱🌱 not just because of the boxwoods and their progress over the last 3+ years but because you showed a glimpse of your NO DIG garden from 2021! That garden bed has always been my very favorite on your property! Also, I hope you left a link below so anyone new can go back and see the other favorite video of how you did this "no dig" bed! You inspired me that same year and I've been adding "no dig" beds ever since. I really liked today's video because it was more like the ones you used to do... where you simply talk to us through it explaining the steps and showing the progression. Great job!!

Gorgeous garden!!😍. I have to garden in a budget too. The boxwoods look great! I planted a hedge of Sprinter box woods (quart size) three years ago and they have really grown. Today I noticed they have spider mites!!! Do you have an issue with spider mites, and if so, do you have a good remedy?

  • @wduong7951

Your comment on why your boxwood might have died could be a possible answer the other are 1) box plight a disease / type of mold that's affecting boxwood and 2) box moth a type of moth that likes to eat the plant. There's a video that just came out this week from content creator in the UK called Murphy's Garden on Youtbe that talks about these 2 that you might want to look up; you'll need to inspect your boxwood to make sure they aren't showing signs of either of these 2 issues and the treatment for it

I did the same thing! Added a circular bed for a service berry tree and used clearance box woods I found (when good clearance pricing was still a thing!) and now they are almost touching! I love them.
And yes, I’ve had parts of evergreens die out from smothering too.

Hey Roxanne, yes I would love to do a circle boxwood hedge in my backyard but they are a big investment that I can’t quite pull the lever on but I’m thinking of doing a hedge in my front yard of red photinia. I feel like I would be be more successful with these instead of boxwoods which I’ve tried before without success.

My daughter planted 9 winter green clearance boxwood 3 years ago as well. 1 started looking like the dead on yours, I trimmed it off , it came back ,I removed the boxwood. This year another one did the same thing. Half was dead. I removed it & planted outside of the yard. It’s still green in front but dead in back. . Neither were planted against anything & had good air circulation. No idea why this happened

I’m not a fan of wearing flip flops in the garden around tools and machinery you could drop anything on your foot/feet and get an injury - please 🙏🏼 please 🙏🏼 just like when I was doing murals and faux finishes back in the day whether you are inside the house or outside outfit yourself to mitigate these risks of injuries - the garden is actually a job site which if the gardener is prepared for unforeseen situations makes for a much safer outcome. 💚☘️💚 You know I worry if you got injured because hey …. I’m a great grandmother so it’s my job! Love to you siSTAR
