I used to use splat all the time because it lasted longer than other shades and I'm lazy and hate re-dying my hair. I would still use it, but after trying a bunch of other brands, I realized I didn't like the thinner consistency of it.
What trippy result on the removal 👀 I can't believe both purples went pink and the blue went purple! Really loved the darker red too, that was my jam for the entirety of my 30's Love ya ✌❤🌈
I LOVE midnight ruby, I used it when I had no intentions of ever wanting the red to come out of my hair and it did NOT come out. 6 months after dyeing my hair was still bright red and I loved it, I eventually put hot pink on top of it but I'm pretty sure the red is still there lol. definitely don't use that one if you ever want to remove it but if you want red hair forever that's the dye for you
I was a manic panic girl in highschool, but I fell for Iroiro pink dye exactly because it was a pink that would not quit. I imagine the Splat girlies loved their fabric dye for the same reason.
I have long natural white hair that has some sections of gray and brown. I use the midnight jade and it's gorgeous. It covers all variations of color beautifully. I don't use color remover, I let it fade which stays beautiful, doesn't turn odd color. Doesn't stain my hair, the white goes back to bright white. Very happy with it.
I love their green dye! I've been dying my hair black for years and don't plan on ever going lighter. My hair pulls warm so the last time I did my whole head I added this green dye to my black dye and it was the prettiest black I've ever had! It's also stayed black longer versus fading into a warm brown.
I used to use Splat a lot especially the blue envy! hell i still do occasionally buy a kit or two when i go to the drug stores when there's a sale . And ohhhh boy Splat was just the gateway to all the other semi permanent dyes i use now. I always just loved how long the color of splat lasted even if..my bath tub looked like a crime scene no matter the color i used lol.
You should do a review of the new Chroma Daddy semi permanent color line. Apparently they’re super pigmented and a lot of the shades are UV reactive and they contain glitter.
That purple to pink is what it did on my virgin, natural hair as well. Was supposed to be temporary that washed out in like 28 washes or something. It gave my hair a purple tone when the sun hit it over my natural dark brown/black hair, Level 2. Over a year later, I bleached to go to platinum. There were pink spots all over in random places mixed with my platinum from it.
Midnight jade is my go to for my green hair. I love it. It lasts forever and doesn't run in the shower. For my purple side, my favorite is punky color "violet".
I started with splat because I enjoyed the way the colors fade into different shades and colors. It's like the dye that keeps giving, as long as you want to keep the similar tone for a while
Midnight Jade and Midnight Indigo are one of my favorites but the indigo bled everywhere. Whenever my hair was wet it would get all over my pillows or clothes but after a few washes it would stop and the color lasted for a long time. Midnight jade looks so pretty when you add a little bit of blue to it
Oh how I wish they still sold it here. It did pop up once for around a year-ish and then was gone. But the only place it ever existed for that short period of time was one brand of grocery/convenience store. I probably managed to end my hairs existence trying them all out (that first pink and red & then some light blue & green). And yes that pink made my entire kitchen pink and stained my hands for week BUT it also lasted on my hair the longest. They actually lasted longer than ones I use now and that’s probably how I damaged my hair so badly… Yet I still miss this hair dye brand. It was there for way too short time to get the most out of it (it was on the pricey side however) I’m actually loving how the blue/purple turned pink and that first pink stayed pink (yes I’m the rare person that needs their hair dyes to stick around longer)
I was told by Splat that some of their dyes have a gel base and some have a conditioner base. I found this out after trying to mix two that apparently had different bases and they coagulated.
I remember using that Jade color to go to my 8th Grade Dance and being SO happy with the color and this is only making me want to seek it out again. I know I shouldn't, but the temptation is strong 🙃
Midnight Splat colors can be used over dark hair without bleaching the hair or using developer. If you hate recoloring your hair all the time, Splat Midnight will stay in your hair longer.
When I was school. We only had manic panic. To have colored nails we had to take white nail polish and put food dye in it to make it colored. And yes, I straighten my hair with an iron.
Ok so I confess it's been a bit since I've really used and researched Splat, but I did use it for the better part of ten years (yes YEARS). What I found was that it was intended for those users that did NOT want to change color frequently. Additionally, as you stated, their colors didn't have conditioners, etc. in them to ensure more absorption by the hair. So I ALWAYS followed up a color w/an intense conditioner to repair the damage from the bleach (I didn't use the Splat bleach btw). Basically, you get Splat, prepare yourself for extra steps, product and BLEEDING lol. The site now states the colors have certain oils for conditioning, so I'd be interested to see a comparison between the Walmart (which could be old stock w/o the oils) and direct from Splat.
I have super long hair, so the thinner consistency of Splat worked great for my hair. I use and swear by Crimson Obsession. My trick for cleaning surfaces is always to use rubbing alcohol as soon as you can. For the tub or shower, I just spray a bathroom cleaner with bleach and it comes right off. I wasn't as impressed by the midnight version of their reds, but I did really like their ombré series, which did have a yellowy orange and an orange red.
I used to buy splat and add just a bit to dollar store conditioner and then do my hair. Made it stretch. But still that blue wouldn’t come all the way out.
I used to use Lusty Lavender all the time. Definitely be careful. When I got a box years ago at Walmart, someone had stolen the dye out of the box and left the bleach and powder, so always check the box.
I’ve used splat before and I’ve def had major issues with it bleeding a lot and staining my whole entire shower lol but I loved the smell of the dye and I have brown hair so I’ve used the midnight magenta color and a purple color(can’t remember the name but it was midnight something lol) it was very easy to saturate the hair and the color lasted well but I hated the bleeding and the cleanup afterwards every shower
My. Lava lamp is from 1998 and still on it's first bulb....it was a wedding present...that should tell you everything you need to know about me lolol xx
I'm going reeeaaly grey around my face and crown and been toying with the idea of dyeing purple. The second purple shade was so pretty, but a pitty that it fades to pink. (I'm not a pink fan). Might give the deep blue a try.
You should try punky color "violet" it fades beautifully, first to a lighter purple, then lavender, then silver. Perfect for going over grey. I have been doing hair and using fashion colors for 35+ years and it's my favorite purple.
A few years ago I bought that dark indigo color and no matter how much conditioner I put in, it never got any lighter. I have a huge mason jar full of it still because I used an entire bottle of conditioner trying to pastelize that color
Flashbacks to the pink my hair faded after the lusty lavender senior year. Color consistency better then iro iro that made me look like a blueberry? Ok splat i see you!
Lustly lavender was the first color I ever used when doing “fashion” colors, back when I had no clue what I was doing with bleach. I’m not a fan of Splat because of the mess it can make in the shower.
I've been trying to grow out my hair, all naturel, and EVERY time I watch your videos I am so tempted to bleach and dye my hair. lol. I'm currently talking myself out of going pink! 💖
back in 2012 I wanted teal and used splat the firs time around. BIG mistake. it turned a pukey green and left my hair SO dry. had a friend redo it with RAW or N'Rage (can't remember which) and it turned out SOOOOOOOOOO much better, lasted so much longer (months) and smelled like bubblegum. those are the only brands I really use for fashion colors now 12 years later
I use midnight ruby and it’s a gorgeous red but on my hair it just doesn’t last and fades in less than two weeks. And that’s with me using sulfate free shampoo & conditioner and cold water. Or also happens with any semi color that Sally’s offered 😩 I also use L’Oréal hi color hi lights in magenta & red to just touch up on my roots and go with a semi on the rest of my hair
Let me just say the blue splat is basically going to be in your hair for a year and a half. I timed it when I was a teenager because I bleached my bangs and I bleached the hairline at the nape of my neck and then I put the blue All over my bangs the back of my neck and the rest of my hair it made my light brown hair black and then the bleached blonde bangs, and the underneath of my hair by my neck were bright blue and it was a look honestly, it was a vibe. I love it, but when I tell you that Six months later, it was a bright ass blue three months after that, it had turned into a very light blue by the end of the year, it was a dishwater, swampy, aqua color, and a couple more months after that it had finally faded back to blonde, and my brown hair was still kind of a cooler green brown
Based on my experience, it depends on which *TYPE* of Splat dye you buy. The ones typically stocked at the drug stores stain *HORRIBLY* but have great color pay off. The naturals line is the only one from them that leaves minimal to no staining
Would you consider doing a video using these on brown hair? I have dark brown, and I’m fully aware most hair colors aren’t going to show well but I’d prefer not to use bleach so I’d be interested to see what they look like
I dyed my hair with the dark red splat, idk if it was the Scarlett or the ruby, but it dyed well. The reason I won’t ever use it again is because of that clotting it does. I had bits of gelatinous dye in my hair for days afterwards. It was unpleasant. If you do use splat, maybe don’t use the red during your cycle 😂😂😂 it’s disconcerting to say the least.
I had to use splat once during Covid and made the mistake of mixing it with conditioner, that shit was all over my entire body 😂 it was running down my eyes and I had to call my husband for help
Used the blue, no bleaching, on my sister's natural level... 5 or 4? Brown hair.... It faded greenish and pieces/spots stayed in her hair for 8+ months!
I heard from a Sally's worker that splat is fabric dye. Which to me makes sense cause it does seem more like a stain. I could see how it may he a fabric dye rather than a hair color.
I used Midnight Jade on my natural level 5 Auburn hair for my Old Gregg costume last Halloween. It was the perfect dark green. Curious to see what it'd look like on true brown hair.
Only time I used splat was when I was in middle school and going through my Avril Lavigne era and did a bright pink stripe in my blonde hair at the time and it was a birthday present from my mom and I thought it was the coolest look. Then I got to school that following Monday and for the next 2 weeks went to in school detention because the school said it was against dress code . My mother was extremely mad but I told her let me stay in detention that I didn’t care and we just waited until the pink faded enough for the school to say I could go back to class. But that was also the start of my hair journey through the years and now I’ve been every color in the rainbow 🌈 😂 . Also use way better semi permanents now then when I first started.
Splat is great if you want to stick to a color because it lasts and doesn’t fade like many other semi permanent colors but it is not it if you wanna switch up your hair color for sure! Lol.
Thank you so much for this video I had died my hole head with the purple desire shade and then after a couple months I wanted to go back to pastel pink so I bleached my whole hair with 20 volume and it gave me a hot pink which I was very surprised I did not expect it at all lol I bleached it again to try to achieve the pastel pink I was looking for and it just will not budge my hair is forever stained Barbie pink lol
Hey Aislinn! Do you think you could make a video on bleaching hair that has been previously dyed with (specifically) Nupur Henna and The Henna GUYS Indigo?? I wan do fashion colors and haven't done Henna in like 6 months. I did 2 sessions of baking soda to remove the pigment and it worked rather well I can see my grays more vividly. But I have dark hair (like black or the darkest color) and I still would need advice on how to bleach it 😅 Thanks in advance ❤❤ PD. Also, is it even possible to approach "High lift blonde instead of lightener" and get light brown hair with my history??
I’ve tried two different splat shades in the past and I don’t like how you can’t mix these with white conditioner. They react really weird and get chunky and watery!!
I used the Lavender in my hair not long ago and even with a very bad bleach (I didn't leave it long enough) it stayed in my hairs for a while! 😊 But it fades in the reds... But it stay in the hairs , I didn't try to remove it, I'll be dying on top of it 😅
The texture reminds me of Adore Hair dye?? I’ve never used splat and so seeing it for the first time I was like huh??? Some shades of the adore dye are super jelly like and clear while others are slightly more opaque and cloudy?
Got 2 be Radical Red and Splat luscious Raspberry or Wild watermelon are colors I return to over and over. However, I do an ombré and want them to stick.
I had hair down to my shoulder blades and made the stupid decision to color my hair Splat Midnight Jade. Ruined my hair to get it out and ended up having to cut it off. 😅 Full on bleach, color remover, bleach bath my hair was minty green and yellow
I use the midnight blue one I forget the name but as much as I use it I have taught myself what works and not like if I wash my hair with dawn afterwards it tends to not bleed as much like maybe it sounds c e azy but I have done this for last 5 years it works lol well for me that's the name Indigo blue is the name but I love it the worst splat is like the 30 or less washes that crap runs out ur hair even if it's not wet lmfao
I’ve dyed a tub or two with splat in my life time 😂😂
I used to use splat all the time because it lasted longer than other shades and I'm lazy and hate re-dying my hair. I would still use it, but after trying a bunch of other brands, I realized I didn't like the thinner consistency of it.
Same! I prefer more of a conditioning base to my dye 🖤
Same!
@@AkaAislinnI would like a video in which you try the colors of (chroma daddy)
What trippy result on the removal 👀 I can't believe both purples went pink and the blue went purple!
Really loved the darker red too, that was my jam for the entirety of my 30's
Love ya ✌❤🌈
The jade one was the first color I've ever dyed my hair. It was so pretty and I kinda miss it.
The midnight magenta is a win, honestly. Pretty, easy to use, doesn't bleed, comes right out.
honestly i'm eyeing the jade color. so pretty and love how it saturated so easily and barely bled! really interesting.
Yes! There's lots of us that didn't want to process our hair with demi or permanent dye but wanted it to last. Splat and iroiro was perfect for that!
I use a deep conditioner or a normal conditioner with splat if it's my only option plus I tend to buy before I run out
I have long natural white hair that has some sections of gray and brown. I use the midnight jade and it's gorgeous. It covers all variations of color beautifully. I don't use color remover, I let it fade which stays beautiful, doesn't turn odd color. Doesn't stain my hair, the white goes back to bright white. Very happy with it.

I have it sitting in my filming room as we speak 🥰 video coming soon
@@AkaAislinn yay!! Can’t wait to see the results. I’m so curious how easy they are to get back out of the hair 🙌
the light pink stain from lusty lavender NEVER came out. but the pink was a cute colour and never faded. lol
That purple to pink is what it did on my virgin, natural hair as well. Was supposed to be temporary that washed out in like 28 washes or something. Splat purple was my first hair dyeing experience! I used to over process my hair with the lightener but never had a ton of breakage or anything
Yes!!! It’s very nostalgic for me 🥹🖤
Right? Like I would do so much stuff to my hair and now I do everything under the moon to have it health and it's 💩
I love that green!!
I need to dip my head in that darker red. It's so beautiful!!!!!
Blood clot caught me off guard, almost choke laughed myself ☠️. ❤ Ya
Like to see you use Color Ooops on these.
I absolutely love splat I’ve used it for over a decade now 💜
The splat natural semi permanent dyes are decent - better than some other brands, for sure.
RIP lava lamp 😢 hope she's revived soon
YESS ! I was about to get hair swatches to try out splat and see by myself how they are doing in 2024!!
Blue Envy was my signature color for years
I love how vibrant splat is, i used to use the pink, but getting it out was impossible. Thank goodness for the variety of brands now. 😅
Love when you test strand these products
Last time I used Splat was about 5 years ago, I used Midnight Ruby and omg my bathtub looked like a crime scene! It was bleeding alot 🙈
Oooo when I run out of my manic panic vampire red I’m definitely gunna try out that midnight ruby
I use midnight ruby when I can’t go to Sally’s to buy vampire red ❤😊 tempted to try out the scarlet shade
Blue Envy has been my go-to lately but that Purple Desire? I've got to try that out!
I love splat the color lasts so long. I use midnight amber and the raspberry red color for the bottom layer. ❤
Thank you for showing me my next red color that I am going with lol. Midnight Magenta it is, and it is so so pretty
Midnight Jade and Midnight Indigo are one of my favorites but the indigo bled everywhere. I’m actually loving how the blue/purple turned pink and that first pink stayed pink (yes I’m the rare person that needs their hair dyes to stick around longer)
Very interesting love the purple and pink
Love your nail varnish ❤
Thank you! 🤗
I’d love to see a test of using bleach after you attempt with the color remover. Great video!!
I was told by Splat that some of their dyes have a gel base and some have a conditioner base. I found this out after trying to mix two that apparently had different bases and they coagulated.
Can't even get this in my country but the colours are so pretty ngl I'd be tempted to try them
I remember using that Jade color to go to my 8th Grade Dance and being SO happy with the color and this is only making me want to seek it out again. I know I shouldn't, but the temptation is strong 🙃
Midnight Splat colors can be used over dark hair without bleaching the hair or using developer. If you hate recoloring your hair all the time, Splat Midnight will stay in your hair longer.

I buy Splat when I visit the USA. I prefer it because I want the colour to last for ages. I don’t like it when it fades out too quickly. 💗🇦🇺
You look so cute, it's spooky!
Love your hair!!

I used the red once about 15 years ago & it completely destroyed my hair!!
I started using L'Oréal Hi-light bright reds after that..
That jade green dye turned into a Grinch green after lifting

Hope the sirens were for something minor! I used to use splat, but I got sick of battling with it; skin splotching, tub splotching etc
I used the Lavender in my hair not long ago and even with a very bad bleach (I didn't leave it long enough) it stayed in my hairs for a while! 😊 But it fades in the reds...
But it stay in the hairs , I didn't try to remove it, I'll be dying on top of it 😅
Can you do a color remover video with adore hair color !?
The texture reminds me of Adore Hair dye?? I’ve never used splat and so seeing it for the first time I was like huh??? Some shades of the adore dye are super jelly like and clear while others are slightly more opaque and cloudy?
Can you try the midnight ones on brown hair?
Got 2 be Radical Red and Splat luscious Raspberry or Wild watermelon are colors I return to over and over. However, I do an ombré and want them to stick.
I want to see her try the bleach !!
The title gave me a jump scare lmao thinking back to when it stained my whole tub blue 😭❤️
