    A year ago, many TA teams found themselves dealing with a huge surge in the volume of almost identical applications and a drop in quality at later stages of the selection process. The culprit? Candidate use of AI. Candidates were flocking to tools like ChatGPT and AutoApplyAI in a bid to give themselves the best shot at finding a job.
    But back then, many TA teams thought AI-usage in recruitment was only the domain of Early Careers candidates… But one year on, and we have surprising new data which reveals that’s not actually the case.
    In fact, more experienced hires are more prolific users of AI in selection and assessment than their younger counterparts -- while 60% of Early Careers candidates have or would use AI to help them secure a job, that rises to 68% for more experienced hires. And both usage and proficiency is growing. In fact, 86% of experienced hires would describe themselves as proficient GenAI users.
    The impact? We’re hearing of TA teams having to screen 1000s more applications per vacancy, add additional headcount to manage the workload, or opt to ban usage of AI altogether… which data proves not only turns candidates off, but also has a harmful impact on the diversity of the talent pool.
