Watch the whole set, but if you want specific songs: 0:45 - V 3:30 - Size of the Moon 8:29 - Cadmium 12:33 - Recycling 18:32 - Old Friends 22:23 - Aphasia 28:37 - Visiting 32:20 - Over My Shoulder 40:05 - New Friends
Correction for the record since there is confusion in the comments below: Evan & Zack started playing music together in middle school and had a band together all through high school. They went to different colleges. Evan and Nandi met at Kenyon College and started Pinegrove as a duo. It became a full band with Zack and others after their graduation in 2011. Evan and Nandi's voices together = magic.
same, discovered them this week pretty much, where have they been all my life. listened to several albums and live recordings, have not heard one single song i didnt like!
This performance of "V" has easily put it amongst my favourite performances of the group. Amazing sound quality considering. I so wish to see them live at some point, will have to wait until they tour Europe though.
@@fen5769 Not yet! Won't have the chance to see them this time around either. A lot can happen in 4 years! We're in the middle of a move, our son who is short of 2 years old is a handful as it stands. Going out of country and/or arranging babysitting in order to go to a Pinegrove show is out of the question for us for now and most likely quite some time forward. There will hopefully be opportunities in the future to see them.
i love the luminaries at primavera nice fair amount of fog beautiful contrast a little bright but not too bright... i think the video makes it seem a little blinding (which is ok) colorful and complemented day shows in this venue dont get any better. Pinegrove and small pigtails Live it.
Instead of talking shit about Nandi (whose contributions are one of the best things about this band), can we talk about how totally inappropriate the Primavera lighting choices are for this music??
Sad how their careers were derailed over some minuscule bullshit, but the fact that the band comes from the diy social justice warrior scene makes it super ironic!
I don't say this about many bands but the singer for some reason seems unbearably pretentious after reading an interview and watching him lol. I understand it's probably pretentious just to assume this and I might be wrong. I'll try another time to like them.
Nathan Shewell trust me he's not. Seen them twice and he's too humble for his own good. He's one of those people you'd kill over if someone hurt his feelings actually lol
I didn't get that impression at all. He seems humble and at times insecure. He is a skinny white kid playing underground rock music in a world where Future is popular.
How does Pitchfork give Manchester Orchestra such shitty scores then champion this band whose sound was clearly born of Manchester? You hypocrites! Shame! Shame! Shame!
I love PG and MO, but I try not to put much weight into Pitchfork's ratings anyway. They have COPE as MO's best-rated album, which is laughable (at best) on soooo many levels. Keep digging both, just be happy both are being given wide platforms to play on in this currently-crowded indie/alternative scene.
"can we afford a sound engineer with ears?"
"not this year boss"
"ehh. it'll be fine"
*pinegrove still smashes*

Pure magic
I've never fell so much in love with a band before a heard pinegrove
same, discovered them this week pretty much, where have they been all my life. listened to several albums and live recordings, have not heard one single song i didnt like!
They're so fucking good!! Perfect way to start the day
These folks know how to stir up a crowd. They also put on a really good show on Audiotree, the mix was damn near perfect.
This performance of "V" has easily put it amongst my favourite performances of the group. Amazing sound quality considering. I so wish to see them live at some point, will have to wait until they tour Europe though.
did you see them?

I will not smoke that much again, i just figured out i was there by watching this video 6 years later
Damn. What a strong move opening with V. Love it.
Cadmium is such a glorious song
This band will win a grammy
They will have to get worse for that to happen
Or the lead singer will be accused of sexual impropriety and the band will take an indefinite hiatus and never be heard from again...
SteveDave227 or they might release that album they recorded a year ago today :)
@@SteveDave227 I'll take comments that didn't age well for 400, Alex.
@@SteveDave227 lol
the person at 5:45 so perfectly expresses how this makes me feel
6:31 that was so awesome, the vocal harmony into that little heavy bit.
I hope this band come back stronger then ever after all this bullshit. #pinegrove2019
well they did ;)

My lord the mix on this livestream was horrid. Does not do them justice at all.
We will always have the Audiotree sessions.
@@whatdothlife4660 this should be top comment
one day i won't need your love
Nothing makes me harder than tuned drums
Everybody always looks so happy in the crowd. I wanna be part of it. Come to France pls.

Best version of V. It's so sad that that the quality is so bad/muffled.
So excited to see y'all in texas in august
Instead of talking shit about Nandi (whose contributions are one of the best things about this band), can we talk about how totally inappropriate the Primavera lighting choices are for this music??
so are you saying pinegrove isn’t a shoegaze band?
say what it is
shoutout that beautiful boy at around 14:05
hi
Good lord, who fired the audio guy? I've heard better sound from cellphone videos.
what model strat is that? made in mexico?
This broadcast guy must be a drummer...
thanku
Can they release the stems so someone with half a brain can mix this
why so many dislikes?
I love PG and this selection of songs, but the mix is really awful imo. Can only hear the vocals and drums for the most part
Pitchfork readers are territorial. If they dont feel a band deserves to be pimped, they revolt.
People are confused.
Yeah the mix is terrible, it's all way off and the keyboards aren't even there at all :/ really doesn't do the band justice
maybe because the audio mix takes a while to sort itself out. some people probably lack the patience to see it through
how is this an official Pitchfork video... sound/mix is a joke.
come to Indonesia, please!
They're on hiatus
guy at 5:44 gets it
Sad how their careers were derailed over some minuscule bullshit, but the fact that the band comes from the diy social justice warrior scene makes it super ironic!
wait what caused it??
Consensual sex and an overzealous clout-chaser who decided that she knows better than the alleged victims
king gizzard ?
Hallucino_Ray Saturday RedbullTV's streaming it Saturday @ 8ishPM EST
deathx36 thanks man won't miss it . 👍
45:02 you're welcome :)
lol
yo @pitchfork take this O F F my guy!
44 minutes and 13 seconds of TOO MUCH TIME GIVEN TO THIS BAND
pitchfork.com/news/pinegrove-extend-hiatus-following-sexual-misconduct-allegations/
the whole situation is very unclear, I'm willing to give Evan the benefit of the doubt ya know
I Love Pinegrove and Evan, but what the heck is Evan doing with his hair? He's a goofball.
who cares?
Pyotr Kurtinski, no one. Just an observation.
Do KIng Gizzard next
8:27 is when the actual set starts
You miss two songs if you go to this point.
Jeff White oh oops, they must have edited the video the intro used to be much longer, disregard my time stamp lol
No worries brother! Just didn't want to steer people in the wrong direction.
And Badbadnotgood ???
FORGET IT
