Avocados are being presented as a healthy fat source for a ketogenic diet, which is being touted as a diet to address brain health …how about a public discussion between these “ reputed doctors “ ?

I think Dr. Barnard should be nominated for the Nobel Prize.
Dear Chuck. Can you interview Dr. Neal Barnard on the subject of macular degeneration?🙏🙏🙏.
I hear everywhere, must eat fish 3 times per week. Not going to happen. Would really appreciate hearing my favorite doctor on the planet say on this subject. Which is getting more and more prevalent. Thank you for all your great work 👍👍👍
My boyfriends grandfather died from Alzheimer's disease. It was pretty sad he died in his own barf. 😢😢😢 RIP to all those suffered from this disease. This is why im so motivated to spread the word and inspire others to save themselves. Of course ill save mysef first ❤❤
Amazing that blueberry juice and grape juice can make a difference, but I suppose it would be better to eat the whole berries ( also frozen) 😄🧡❤️💜💚
So exciting to hear that the mayor of a large city, like New York is talking about a whole plant food diet. Just amazing.
My mom passed 3 years ago. After a 13 year long battle, she made it to the very last stage of Alzheimer's. This disease is so much more, so much worse than just forgetfulness. Thank you for educating us.
Sorry for your loss. You must have been through a lot during those years of her illness. 💐
@@sugarplumk2381 Thank you.
I am so sorry for your loss, it's extreme difficult to see a loved one suffer (especially for so long). I am glad your mom was not alone at the end. Hope this doesn't happen to anyone else in your family.
@@tyng-shyanhuang9460 Thank you. Be well.
I have dulse flakes daily in my breakfast smoothie. I find that daily ground flax has really improved my memory at age 72.
This man, Dr. Barnard, is brilliant
Thank you for a great interview. I lost my lovely Mum to Alzheimer's last August, it's a truly evil disease and we should all be trying everything to avoid it. I miss my darling mum everyday and it has left a big hole in my life. Thanks for sharing this good advice ❤
Condolences. 💐

A much needed topic to discuss - thank you Chuck and Dr. Barnard!
If you suffer from Restless Leg Syndrome, you may be LOW on iron. I have had some RLS for years, and it got worse when I started giving blood regularly. Now when I experience symptoms and also for a couple of weeks before and after I give blood, I take a 27 mg iron supplement. That has eliminated the symptoms and gotten me off the prescription meds I was taking for RLS! Apparently a common cause of RLS is low iron levels specifically in the brain. And that is common in those who regularly give blood, even if post-menopausal like me.
Thank you for this informative conversation! I just started sharing videos on my UA-cam channel about how our family of 4 has made a WFPB diet work for the past 14years. Keeping it simple has been key for us. Potatoes, sweet potatoes, whole grains, beans, and tons of veggies and fruits.

Wow super informative ❤❤❤ we love Dr. Barnard and all his achievements in the plant based and vegan community ❤❤
Thank you Alison and all our wonderful friends at the Gregory J Reiter Fund, you are lifesavers! Thank you Chuck and Dr Barnard for another great vlog, your conference sounds absolutely fantastic with so many prestigious speakers, looking forward to hearing some of their presentations. Thank you.

thank you gentlemen for this exciting u-tube!
Great show today. Very informative. Is this available in Spanish or with subtitles for my family?
Thank you Chuck and Dr Barnard 💜💯🙏
Great interview!! Great info and I believe YES IT WORKS
Coincidentally, listening to Dr Barnard, I realised our daily breakfast meets his targets (taken with a B12 tablet):
Per person: 2 tbs frozen berries, defrosted overnight on top of 1 tbs chia seeds. In the morning, freshly grind 2 tbs flaxseeds and add to the bowl with 1 tsp tahini. Top with 2 tbs organic, coconut, almond or soy yoghurt plus half a small banana. (my husband has the other half). We eat this when we get back from our early morning walk!
Great presentation and powerful information. The plant based icing on the plant based carrot cake was the Proclamation of The Mayors of America, very encouraging!
Very good presentation
Thanks
I wish there was not so much conflicted information out there. Some say coconut oil is beneficial, some say it’s not. My Mom has dementia and I’m her caregiver. She’s already completely checked out. I’m doing all I can to prevent getting it myself. I wish not to be a burden to my only child. Good luck everyone!
Thanks for the information. Diet is most important!

I think The Exam Room is one of the best podcasts. I tried to capture the type of non stick pan that Dr Barnard mentioned on this podcast but was not able to. Can you please reply with the type of non-stick pan recommended? TIA.
Thank you both for all you do. I really enjoy what you have to say about new research and new drugs. I also appreciate you repeating info i have heard before.
I would love to have you repeat endlessly the question of how will I get enough protein if one only eats plants.
Beans and other legumes are an excellent source, just eat whole plant food and you will not be short of protein, it's a myth that we need a lot of protein, just eat the right food and worry more about getting enough fibre
@@luluandmeow - I agree, most people eat way too much protein which causes disease. go vegan !
Come to Denver for a live show and I'll be there!! God's country is beautiful this time of year..
Alzheimers is called type 3 diabetes nowadays, because it has been found that chronically elevated blood sugars are a huge contributor to the disease.

Any recommendations for good pans & pots? I’m ready to upgrade. All of mine now are “hand-me-downs” over the years, and they all have chips in them. 😵💫😳 Thank you everyone for any recommendations! ♥️🙏
I use glass cooking pots, ceramic coated cast iron pots and non stick pans by Henckels. Love them all!
Cast iron and stainless steel. NO non-stick
any Smoothies healthy recipes
What about use of the Olive oil for cooking or better than other oil for better liver heath
Organic coconut oil is best for high heat, otherwise extra virgin olive oil is wonderful. But you must check out oils classified as extra virgin olive oil because reports state that 70 to 80 percent of many are adulterated with cheap omega 6 oils which are highly inflammatory.
Aghh just got rid of my non-stick and switched to stainless steel- are these ok?
Good info. The only thing that was missed
according to many articles I've read
is we need deep sleep for at least
7 to 8 hours every nite to prevent
dementia. I agree with all info about diet
but should include wild salmon especially
and other omega 3 food such chia seeds,
and walnut.
Thank you.
13:23 🍷 alcohol in moderation was based on a faulty study of EtOH consumption vs teatotalers because they weren’t lifelong non-EtOH consumers.
Have there been comparison studies between the new drug vs blueberry/flaxseed/leafy greens/exercise group vs those who use BOTH protocols.
I love leafy greens but I only like them well cooked, do they still retain the substance that helps to prevent Alzheimer?
Yes
Dr. Essylstyn promotes cooked greens with balsamic or rice vinegar because it enhances the antioxidant benefits. ❤
I hate greens. Don’t even like them in a smoothie. I don’t think they agree with me either. I can eat broccoli and green string beans but that’s about it.
Dr. Barnard, the ocean water is full of iodine. People who eat sea vegetables and even vegetables grown in coastal areas and areas that had once been covered with sea water have lower incidence of goiter. Sea salt contains iodine in an easily assimilated form. It is not a standardized level of iodine, but then, how do we know whether all iodized salt contains the same level of iodine? We only need a very tiny amount of iodine for thyroid health.
What about fasting
Hi Chuck, I eat very clean SOS-free WFPB, blood tests, etc. all fine but I get the most painful mouth/tongue sores which can develop suddenly, last for weeks and make eating a painful experience. I have worked out that the lemon dressing on my salad can trigger this (not always). Are there other ways to prevent/treat these painful sores? Please could you discuss this topic in future vlogs as I'm suffering so much and I don't want to abandon my WFPB lifestyle, thank you.
I think it's called blood blister. I suddenly got it twice this year. It was very strange because I never got it. So I googled it and it said that sometimes really sour or tart foods can cause it. I had eaten a lot of kiwi. And when you eat a lot of kiwi especially that is not very ripe it can happen. I didn't wait for the kiwi to get ripe enough. But the last 3 or 4 we're ripe but it was too late. So the blood blister appeared in my mouth. And also it could be a food allergy to cross pollinated with other food. For example if your allergic to bananas and don't know you are. And then eat a sour or acidic food it can happen. Try seeing a doctor and also a dentist. Mine went away when I stopped eating the kiwi. But see a doctor if you haven't already. Hope this helps. Have a blessed day. GOD bless.

@@richyakuoko2360 yup, acid. Also tooth paste can bring those on. Pick a milder one or use coconut oil with some baking soda.
I'm vegan and I'm consuming a lot of whole grains because it's plenty here in the Philippines. Is sticky rice healthy it being also whole grains.
White rice is NOT whole grain, brown rice is. White rice causes insulin to rise and people with diabetes or insulin problems should not eat white rice or processed grains. The fiber is needed to nourish health.
I like tofu. I have Dr. Barnard’s book from years ago and you can make fake eggs from tofu, fake bacon too from tofu. Lots of recipes using beans, lots with rice. Just all round good book.
I want to get rid of tinnitus
If I already eat two heads of purple cabbage daily, am I getting added benefit from also having blackberries over just increasing my purple cabbage intake?
Arriving at a healthy diet has its difficulties. I appreciate this channel for making it a little easier.
😊
What about for Parkinson's Disease - diet? also those new gloves ...
trying to find non stick pan you're referring to. can you help?
I'm wondering if it has anything to do with all the pesticides sprayed on the foods?
Take more iodine
It is good to know how to prevent but what foods if any will help the ones who are already there from getting worse?
My husband is on heart medication and drinking alcohol every day…it is very sad 😢he is forgetting a lot and blaming on me…and shouting… i spoke to his doctor to test him she said that he needs to ask for it…i didn’t understand that … I’m plant based trying to help him… but no chance… what do you recommend me to do with him? Thank you!
It could be a side effect of the meds….
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
what is the name of Alzheimer drog dr Barnard talked about and what is the side effect
It is drug by Biogen company. It costs 26000 dollars a year. Its name is Leqembi.
Please find my comment on turmeric, where it has shown to reverse Alzheimer’s. Unfortunately there was only one study as nobody would sponsor a study if they can’t patent it (they can’t patent a spice).
The study I mentioned above comprised of 3 case studies. They need more studies to confirm these findings, but unfortunately nobody would sponsor more studies as there is no money to be made recommending turmeric.
The side effects of Leqembi are serious risks of brain swelling and bleeding.
Kale has less oxalic acids than many other leafy greens.
SILICA SILICA SILICA. Promising results in not only preventing but reversing. You can get it in diatomaceous Earth (food grade!) At farm and tractor. Great for lots of things like killing and preventing parasites in humans and pets and natural safe bug repellent in garden and flower beds.

Chuck, there is no EPA or DHA on the vegan diet, lack of which is linked to cognitive decline. Shouldn't we be taking an algae based supplement containing these nutrients? Please ask Dr B. Thanks
Dr Greger recommends omega 3 DHA & EPA supplements from algae.
There is a controversy in this field. But you must listen to a lecture by Dr. Tim Radak with a title “Do vegans and vegetarians require a DHA supplement?”. This is available on UA-cam. I can’t place a link as it will delete my comment. Dr. Radak has researched this area for many years and according to him there is no evidence that you cannot get EPA and DHA by conversation from short chain omega 3 (ALA). Short chain omega 3 (ALA) can be obtained from flaxseeds, chia seeds, walnuts, etc. Listen to his lecture on UA-cam, it is a very thorough examination of the subject. Main thing to do is if you are consuming short-chain omega 3 foods and still have lower levels of EPA and DHA, then take algae based supplements (fish also get EPA and DHA by eating algae). Conversion from short chain omega 3 to longer chain omega 3 (EPA and DHA) is regulated by body, so you have optimum level of EPA and DHA. From supplements, you can get excess as body cannot regulate its intake from supplements, and excess EPA and DHA have been associated with cancer.
Here is the link for Dr. Radak’s lecture. Hopefully it is not deleted. ua-cam.com/video/nne_fATFGfw/v-deo.html
"neither one is broccoli", ha ha tell it to us straight
IODIZED SALT?? I thought ... research showed it was NOT GOOD to have??? ANYONE??
If you already have alzheimers, are these foods still good to eat to slow the progression of alzheimers?
Actually Dr. Gregor in Nutrition Facts Organization shows a study where Alzheimer’s is reversed by regular consumption of turmeric (whole spice - 1 teaspoon a day, not curcumin extract). Check it under the topic “turmeric” in Nutrition Fact Organization site. In Indian subcontinent, Alzheimer’s is almost absent, which is attributed to regular consumption of turmeric (one of the species in curry is turmeric).
@@RK-tf8pq thank you!!
@@nikkilove6128 Actually there is only one such study with 3 case reports. It is difficult to get funding for more studies as there is no money to be made recommending turmeric. One cannot patent a spice.

Why do you have to age at all? The nature tells us that living eternally is possible? Immortal jellyfish can live forever, and scientists like David Sinclair says aging is not a law and science should be able to reverse it in the near future.

David Sinclair is a huge liar then.
Everything in the universe ages. Even stars are "born", evolve, then die. It IS the natural law of things.
