Just found your channel from Richbbies Adventures, we are starting our shower now and this is very helpful! Need to catch up on all your videos ! Lots of good tips in this one 😎👍
Great video, very helpful in helping me decide whether to buy this for my van ...a couple of questions please. 1. How wide is your doorway cutout? 2. How far from the edge is the cutout at the side where the tambour radius sits? Thanks in anticipation.
@@TheCraftyBlindersvanlife Doorway sheet is cut and fitted now, I cut it 550 wide and 80 from the edge …ordering tambour door on payday, so fingers crossed 🤞 Thanks for replying anyway.
Question for you mate. Im going to copy you, only thing is once u put your 15mm ply into the ally channel are you putting the PVC over the channel lip when glueing it to the PLY. Just never seen that parf in your video. Cheers mate
Great video, thanks. I noticed you used pocket screws on the shower sides up into the ceiling but you don't have a timber frame the other side. Did you only screw into the ceiling panels? I'm about to start my shower build and was planning to use an additional timber frame but if there's no need, I'd like to save work.
Just came across your Chanel and looking forward to watching your past and future videos, not sure how UA-cam fannies about with content that you are interested in and not showing it to you?
Hi Eleanor that's a big van lots of opertunity and options for a great build the tray I used is a C200 the dimensions are 1019mm x 700mm but it can be cut down to 940mm x 620mm I trimmed a bit off the back edge and the side so it would fit where I needed it to go We have a Facebook page of the same name and would love to see your builds progress and its handy if you get stuck or have any questions good luck and keep us updated
Good work on the shower Sam, when you are fitting to the van walls. Are you screwing straight to the van walls or have you got battens under the ply wall lining? Thanks
@@TheCraftyBlindersvanlife that's good to know, as I am trying to avoid battening out the van, deciding on using 6 or 9 mm. Did you feel you got good secure fixings using the 6mm ply? Are subsequent fixing for example in your overhead units and kitchen units, bathroom wall therefore through into the van structural beams also? I'm thinking one of the advantages of using 9mm I can avoid any subsequent fixing needing to go into the van structure too but I guess at the cost of additional weight of 9mm. Thanks

A quick question Sam if you don’t mind, when you attached the first side panel to the wall did you use self drilling metal screws into the metal frame through the pocket holes?
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner I thought I had answered this question while we were away we used 12mm ply under the shower tray it fits perfectly under there
@@TheCraftyBlindersvanlife cheers Sam. I’m struggling at the moment with drain fitting sizes. I’ve bought the Cak waste tank but finding there’s so many sizes of pipes and fittings. Sorry to be a pain mate but do you mind letting me know i.e. your shower waste size, size of the flexi white fitting, size of tank connector, size of the grey flexi water you’ve used. That would be so helpful and I would forever be in your debt! 😀. You are my goto on “how to” videos now.
Hi Sam - great video, and a great combo that tambour door / vertical shower combo! A question if you don’t mind? How did you secure the shower fitting to the wall? Did you need a backing plate? Many thanks - keep them coming!
The shower head bracket is just screwd through the hygienic board and into the furniture board taking care to use the correct length of screw as for the mixer valve that had 2 holes drill right through both boards allowing the threaded part of the valve to pass through and then I attached the bossed nuts and tightened the assembly up until the gaskets made a seal as the mixer is low all tge connections are accessible from under the bed, no backing plate was required as the Moorlands furniture board is quite strong Hope this helps 👍
This is the best diet build video for Vans I've seen yet

Can i ask how many sheets of lightweight ply you used
In total, we used 6 in memory serves me right with quite bit leftover due to size a shapes of some of the cuts
@TheCraftyBlindersvanlife thank you i guess its time to line morlands pockets 🤣
@metalmickey8 I think they have some offers on at the moment
Hi, how’s the shower tray going after 2 yrs now? Hear bad reviews on them as they crack after time, cheers now
I have a slight crack in mine. we noticed it not long after we built it, no leaks, and it not got any worse but I do hate how noisy it is

I secured the walls to structural parts of the van
I marked the ply with where the structural parts of the van that are behind the ply

What thickness of timber did you use for the frame uprights?
Now there's a question it's been a while from memory it was 40mm square
What hole jig you using mate
It's a workpro pockehole jig
