Probably the best video on the subject of rear brakes concerning the Crafter I / Sprinter 906. Congrats, mate - well done! 😊👍 Aside from the technical descriptions and the actual work being spot-on, one cannot over emphasize the cleanliness of the job. Once the grimy, rusty remnants are gone, it is important to have clean paws when reassembling the new parts. 🤚✋ The backing plates are often overlooked during the service, especially when the emergency brake linings are left unattended. Perfectly spotted here. 👍 Personally, I would have swapped the calipers at the same time, but if there is no issue with them, re-using them works too. As a little reminder: Remember to change the brake fluid regularly as well, the Crafter I / Sprinter 906 brakes are borderline on a fully loaded van to begin with, and keeping them up to their best performance is absolutely mandatory. 😎

I worked for merc, putting that spring on it easy if you know how, use some wire and hook it on the spring then make a loop in the wire and pull it with a pair of piers or a screw driver

Another quality video Sam, however in my experience always get genuine Mercedes parts for the rear shoes as the common handbrake sticking fault is caused by a seized lever the cable attaches to. I think that is only available in the genuine brake shoe pack. The back plate is for the brake shoe springs, absolute nightmare doing those, in future I’m paying someone else to do it. Nice presentation Sam, did my relay a few weeks ago which was slightly different because of front wheel drive. Mine were in such poor condition I'm surprised it passed it's last MOT.👍 Also found that the near side wheel bearing was needing replacing. New hub was cheap enough so I got one.

Sam. I've done the air bags, 5 tonne rear springs from Jones. I've just bought the Koni active shocks. And a 5 tonne front sprint from Jones. Will this spring be ok in the up plating process do you think.

Thanks for the list of fives btw, but I just can't keep my eyes of the build quality of your cabinets and the seating when you are sat next to the tv.. Which panels did you use to build the cabinets and how did you get this perfect finish? For instance, the aluminium quarter round profile under the upper cabinets, who sells these and do you have a video on cabinet making? My Idler roller bolt came loose and then the roller nearly came off and the fan belt started to rub and burn.

Range Rover Vogue, engine light 7 years on and off......the only thing we have not changed is the car...LOL

I've been on my front brakes for 3Y, and they don't show wear at all, Except the disk that has been heavily attacked by salt through the winter. I also noticed the inside of the disks looked nothing like the outside. I know the callipers need a service every 2nd year to be working good, because the sliders arrangement is trash. They seem to collect rust, whatever you'd do. So the brakes may look good, but they're usually not. Has anybody put bigger brakes on the crafters? I would really like some upgrades. They bite good, but it just takes time before the originals bite properly.

I've seen many videos on the subject, this one's dead on. Nice going, mate! 🙂👍 The Crafter I / Sprinter 906 brakes are just barely sufficient to stop the cathedral safely when they are at their best performance. Any deterioration of the brake performance will lengthen the stopping distance during an emergency stop considerably. As converted vans are usually maxed out at 3.5 tons or even more after an upplating, frequent checks of the stoppers are mandatory. 🧐 Also take a VERY close look at the calipers, as the pistons can get sticky or seize altogether, reducing your brake performance. Frequent brake fluid changes (once a year) will give you maximum corrosion protection in the lines and calipers and keep the boiling point of the fluid up to specs, reducing the chances of brake fade during long brake application (e.g. going downhill). 😎 And last but not least - if you're unsure of what you're doing, get someone with expertise to assist you or have them done at the shop altogether. Brakes and steering components need to function at their best and forbid any guesswork or shoddy workmanship. 🙂 Stay safe, everyone! 🚐☁🍀

Another fine post Sam... it's a pity dealers don't copper slip anything anymore...they say it causes a chemical reaction & damages the surfaces🤣🤣🤣 what a screwed country...copper slip or anti seize proven for decades & simply works no fighting rusted bolts & slides...but proof & knowledge doesn't matter nowadays... at least we know 😁
