I've been fortunate to own both. Very very hard to say which is better overall. But just to give you an idea, there's a reason why both are priced similarly new (50-55k) and why they're around that same price even used, almost zero depreciation, 50-55k, because they're similar levels of fun and both are awesome to live with and I have no doubt you'd be very happy with either. Some things are objectively better though. On Yaris, AWD wins drag races and acceleration in the wet, the tech is better in some ways (infotainment is decent, auto stop-start, lane keep works at a wider range of speeds, HUD is awesome, speed limit detection and warning, blind spot monitor, better sound system and an actual audio equaliser) and being slightly higher and softer helps a lot for a daily. On Civic, bigger boot, 4 doors and more space and visibility are very highly appreciated, better interior build quality with less scratchy plastics, soft door armrest, and a central armrest with storage, and nicer digital dashboard, NVH slightly better, electronic parking brake with auto hold and the drive mode selectors and the front n rear parking sensors are very nice bonuses, 4 cyl is smoother, punchier, more rev happy, and definitely easier to drive day to day with better ability to short shift (3 cyl is a bit more prone to stalling and doesn't like RPMs under 1500 whereas in civic 1200 it's quite comfortable staying there, this is for smooth driving and not spirited driving, pls don't lug engines). As for the juicy stuff, driving. I think they also have their pros and cons (copout answer sorry...). Civic is longer, wider, lower, and stiffer, automatically this makes it feel more planted and stable, seating position also nice and low, gear changes very satisfying and notchy, steering is very direct and confidence-inspiring, honestly a joy to drive at any speed! I feel like i can do faster cornering in the civic, maybe it's the low position that makes it less scary, and maybe the suspension and wheels are set up in a way that they grip better, IDK, but it's easier to drive fast for sure. It's also super flat when turning, changing lanes quickly, etc, so feels sportier and more planted. The engine is very punchy especially once you're rolling. I'm sure the civic will win more rolling races than Yaris, because of less drivetrain loss and of course more power and torque, but this is for speeds 50kmh and above. At lower speeds like 30kmh, going full throttle on civic will spin tyres 100%, even in dry. In wet, it can spin tyres even in second/third gear at like 80kmh lol. But man, power on the highway is just so plenty, that turbo kicks in HARDD! Haven't faced much understeer in the civic, and in a few instances it actually oversteered a bit, which put a massive smile on my face back then. No torque steer in the dry either. Yaris is much more compact, higher and softer. In tight corners, you could probably turn a bit better at lower speeds, or at roundabouts and smaller streets, but at faster bigger corners not so much. It absorbs bumps much better and feels less of a shock to your spine over potholes (it also has smaller wheels so more meat on those!), and being AWD it's not upset by those undulations, whereas the civic would torque steer at uneven surfaces or wet roads. The AWD, man, it's so confidence-inspiring! In the same way, the chassis and suspension on the civic make you comfortable at driving faster, the AWD on the Yaris makes it super breezy to drive it hard at sub 100 or sub 80kmh speeds. There's nothing stopping you from flooring the car off the line, in the wet going straight (not recommended at bends in the wet!!!), or in slow-moving traffic once you find an empty lane. It has never wheel hopped on me, well, actually only once when I was testing the handbrake decoupling mechanism, put the handbrake on the first notch (enough to trigger the sensor and disable the rear axle but not enough for the brakes to clamp) and floor it, it wheel hops, and it just reminded me of the embarrassing times I tried to drag race others off the light in the civic only to get a handful of wheel hop, but to be fair the continentals on the civic were about 3.5yrs old so, not in their prime. You can still take corners fast in the Yaris, just not as fast, and the higher seating position makes this harder (note that my Yaris has Goodyear eagle f1, not sportmaxx). The steering on Yaris is nice, just not as communicative or direct as civic (I'm sure suspension stiffness has a large role to play here). Gear shifts are very nice, almost as nice as civic, you wouldn't know the difference unless drove them side by side. I think civic shifter is shorter and more notchy. The clutch on civic was better and more progressive, I feel in Yaris it grabs harder and the biting point is shallower if that makes sense. So civic was easier to drive smoothly and leave from a ditch (in normal traffic). The engine in the Yaris is a gem, very punchy and feels like it's always ready to go, but after like 80kmh you start to notice that it's 30hp less than civic, and maybe some of this is due to drivetrain loss too, but off the light, it's punchier and doesn't bog like the civic. It feels less rev-happy than civic, idk why, I tend to stay away from 6k rpm and above. Sadly, rev hang is there more so in Yaris as its flywheel is heavier, so I wait a bit more to release the clutch when upshifting, and the same for auto rev match it's a bit slower, but it's still good on both and I use it daily. When driving slow, Yaris isn't so fun as much as civic. Everything is nice and comfortable to use, but I feel like the Yaris needs to be pushed a bit more to be enjoyed. But I don't mind pushing it! Smiles per gallon, right? Both cars are phenomenal, both are head-turners (civic more so due to crazy styling), and people try to race you all the time, Yaris looks more subtle, I like the civic's front more, but the Yaris rear more. Braking is similar in both. Consumption is similar on both, 8.5 on Yaris and 9 in civic. Yaris taillights are all LED and look super nice, civic still uses clear lens and halogen lights for some reason. A lot of these cars' problems can be solved with mods, whether it's cosmetic complaints, handling, power figures, sound and exhaust noise (they sound similar on the outside tbh). Both cars have aftermarket exhausts, so I never complained of exhaust notes. Both cars have issues to be aware of, civic the crack-prone massive wheels and the 2nd gear crunch, the Yaris with its questionable transmission reliability and the possibility of engine damage with overrevving and valve float etc... I haven't faced any of these 4 issues really, and I hope you never will. In summary, the civic lap times and cornering speeds are better, and Yaris drag racing and grip levels are better. Both are beasts in their own way and will put a smile on your face when you get in, I certainly feel this way every time I drove anywhere really. The main things that separate these 2 are AWD vs FWD and sub-compact vs compact size. Do you want a larger car that handles better? Civic. Can you live with a smaller car, live in a wet area and really appreciate drag races and floor your car all the time? Yaris. I fall in the second category. Oddly, I'd take the Yaris as a daily over the civic (this is an unpopular opinion) but I feel that softer higher suspension makes speed bumps less scary, AWD makes it zippier in traffic, and interior tech makes life easier. Civic would be my choice for backroads and tracking (I have not tracked either sadly), but still was very comfortable to daily, very accommodating and better NVH, it's just the lower and stiffer suspension mean that I scraped the front more, and FWD meant I spun the wheels more, but being able to drive faster at corners, being able to fit more things in boot, and being more fun even when driving slow, it's something I miss. Super hyped to experience and watch reviews for the new FL5 civic and the GR Corolla! Maybe one of them will replace the Yaris. This is just my opinion and you're more than welcome to disagree! I'm not super knowledgeable about the mechanical aspect of things nor familiar with tracking and driving these at ten tenths, I just speak from the heart and from my experience owning these for a few months (civic 6mths, Yaris 2mths) and taking them to the Black Spur Drive here in Victoria (hint: they were both super fun!). Let me know if you have any questions and I'll answer them to the best of my ability!
Update: 22k on yaris now, fk8 sold at 45k and now owning FL5. GR corolla nowhere to be seen, very hard to come by at RRP in australia. The above holds true, no changes there. FL5 very similar to FK8 just stiffer and nicer interior. Power similar, grip better from dig, cornering similar
The Circuit Pack version hasn't been released in Australia yet AFAIK. It was the regular version that was offered by Toyota at $39,990 AUD ($30,500 USD) as a loss-leader. :) The Dunlop Sport Maxx 050 tyres that come on the standard version are not that great apparently.
It’s simple, if you live in a country where it doesn’t snow type r, if you live in a country lots of snow and rain gr Yaris. Sadly for me i can’t have the type r can’t deal with spinning the wheels in the winter
The UK track pack version / AU Rallye edition is the actual car to compare. This comparison is a $40k GR Yaris vs a $60k Civic. To be fair, Motor won't get to drive a Rallye edition as only 200 are coming the the country at $56k, none will be press cars.
Yes the GR Yaris tested here is the base model which sold for AUD $39,950. It should have scored much higher in Value, and if they had removed the Practicality rating (since the GR Yaris is an homologation special and was never designed for rear comfort), it would have beat the Type R and won ! By the way Toyota Australia currently have two Rallye models in their possession and in the country at the moment. They should have lent one of them to Motor to be used for this review !
Normal roads Yaris all day it never gets unsettled by camber , ruts or undulation, smooth race track type r, wet weather Yaris by a mile as no traction issues it just goes . the last score is not why people buy one, it has enough room for a family that's all that matters.
When the Rallye comes out please compare with normal GR. More importantly swap the wheels and tyres over between the 2 and measure the results on track with times. Not just how it feels. Like you guys know, the tyres make the biggest difference to any cars handling.
The GR Yaris RC package sold in Japan eliminates an air conditioner and an LCD monitor, and is sold for 30,000 dollars. But, the wheel size and the brake size, downsizing. If the mods is made the premise, it's a best buy.
@@motorofficial feel free to test mine out. Feels so different to stock tyres. Turn in is so much better, steering feel etc. Haven't experienced understeer since.
I own a yaris GR with the track Pack Just got 100km on it. Already gave it some little beans in german Winter and all I can Tell you, holy shit it is fun! IT GRIPS with the Torsen diffs! And you can definitly feel the drivetrain Modes. You have some understeer but it also oversteers, depends on steering and throttle. I got it alot sideways.
Civic doesn't torque steer much because it has the same front strut design as the Megane Sport with the hub swivelling separately to the strut. Its a very important part of the design worth mentioning.
@@maxialea It's not special or memorable *to you*. In reality, Type Rs are highly sought-after and hold their value very well. Those kept in good condition gain value over time and can sell for way above the MSRP when they first released. Some have surpassed the 6 fixgure mark. The Type R already is what you predict the GR Yaris will become in the future. Not dissing the Toyota because I like it as well and it's a great car, but you're completely misinformed about the Type R iconic brand.
Definately yes! Toyota Australia currently have two higher spec Rallye models in their possession and in the country at the moment. They should have supplied one of them to Motor to be used in this review! This was an unfair comparison.
@@azamchaudhri mostly it’ll be easier to use the cheaper car, not replacing chunks of the ‘active’ drivetrain to build up a car for national rally, there mostly FWD nowadays. You’d be mad not to use this in such a setting with all inherent advantages of being originally made as a WRC homologation car.
Yaris - Performance pack - Two Slip differentials, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S Tyres, stiffer chassis- Problem how ist goes around corners solved... And btw great Videos on your channel :)
Full spec type r vs ... boggo stock comfort spec Yaris with no lsd diffs and soft suspension, heavier wheels and shit tyres ... Shane you don’t get the real GR down under yet.
Even with a circuit pack, the YaGR still doesnt have the dual axis suspension design of the CTR which maximises the tyre contact patch in very hard cornering.
Then again, the GR Yaris first purpose is just to make sure Toyota can still compete in WRC so comfort or practicality like the rear seats is probably the last thing they're gonna thing about hahaha. ..and yes, when you look at the European review most of them are reviewing the Performance pack (Rallye for Australian market) which has been praised a lot so i hope you can get one of those in the future.
I love my Type R, the best vehicle I have ever had as a daily. The thing drives like any civic until you ask it to do more, that's when it wakes up and you realize what a nice machine it is.
@@eugenux guess you are a Mazda 2 wearing Toyota Yaris badge fanboy, or BMW Z4 wearing Toyota Supra badge, or ... never mind, Mr Honda philosophy came from him working for Toyota, so I'm not saying anything bad about Toyota...we Honda fanboys and fangirls will leave negativity to you guys while we drive by you broken down.
Has your dealer told you if you will definately receive a Rallye and when delivery is expected? I too ordered a Rallye just before Christmas, but it has not been confirmed if they can fulfill my order.
This is the Aussie Version of the Toyota GR Yaris, the one without the two mechanical limited slip differentials. Not the car you want to be comparing.
Honda can easily make them louder exhaust but the regulation they have to follow.... And personally I like it the way it is, if you drive it as daily, your neighbor will appreciate the cold start in the morning, and when driving in the neighborhood, it's quiet as regular Civic, and when you floor it in the open road, it's just enough sound without annoying you
Now if only it were possible to purchase one. Honda seem to be out of the 2021 model, and used they're selling over MRSP. The Type R is pretty special though.
@@rubberrocket7620 most tracks are focused on tight corners, breaking capabilities and accelerating out of corneres. and the gr yaris exceeds at those three probably more then the type r because of the integration of awd, light weight, bigger breaks and LSD´s. the only real track i would imagine the type r winning over a gr yaris with the same driver is the nurburgring since its the only strong point against the yaris in the type r because of its long straights. this is without even taking in consideration rally courses wich is really the purpose of the yaris since its a homologation special rally car ;)
I don't blame these guys as their job is to judge the car as packaged by the manufacturer. Just a real shame Toyota insisted on fitting trash tyres to this spec (in essence to enlarge the performance gap between the two specs). There is no other hot hatch on the market fitted with such inappropriate tyres.
Can't compare without using the "track pack" version GR (Torsen LSD front & rear + stiffer & more progressive springs & shocks + BBS forged alloys with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S) and you WILL be surprised by the capacity of the GR Four.
That Honda is hideous to look at. I don't care how good it is on the road. To think I'd have to look at it on my driveway without any shame is too much to bear. It's distgusting
Hi, I have driven the GR yaris and I don't agree with the score, especially in handling, then you score the GR yaris much better in power than the TYPE R. They are very even in everything. but the GR is more special, especially the performance pack with all-wheel drive and 2 self-locking torsen mechanics.
Well the Honda has a stiffer steering wheel and gives more of a "sportfeeling". Yaris is a rally car and the grip is much better than the Honda. The feeling and the actual performance capability doesn't add up and should be separated. I agree it's a better car though.
So all you care about is numbers? Then type R wasn't for you or all the numbers lovers. 2 different class, philosophy, drivetrain, size, etc...both very good for what they are....too many assholes always excited for Honda/Acura products to get beaten, even if it's a hummingbird hovering.
@@MT-eb2dx fake wing? What the hell you saying? Ok...wing and aero bits are functional! Fake bits to break up design and pay homage to new NSX real vent as design language. @@TheKingkingg well said. Sad that some people don't seem able to appreciate both cars for what they are. Some just seem keen to create a we are better than you attitude.
Very different result to every European test, all with the “track pack” Torsen diffs and Michelin PS4s, where it was all raves, so I’m glad that’s what I’m getting (Rallye), though less happy I have to wait till September+! Then, it’ll get induction, exhaust and chip, so 230+kW and 420+Nm - those are the figures with just a chip.
Why the hell did you compare a non competition pack yaris? LSD front and rear axle will make a huge difference to that understeer you are complaining about.
Toyota Australia currently have two Rallye models in their possesion and in the country at the moment. They should have lent one of them to Motor to be used for this review.
Motor, the aero dynamics work on the CTR, credit where credit is due after years of development. If you value your life under braking at high speeds leave the beautiful wing alone. both fantastic cars. The is an interesting book explaining how Honda designed the new fk8. great video.
One more thing... Honda SH-AWD on type R would be a true Beast, then you would have numb nuts comparing it to a Porsche 911 turbo and saying the type R isn't that good because Porsche is better track car, or more premium, or something dumb like " it's a Honda"
Unfortunately for Toyota, this was not a fair comparison to the newly upgraded Honda Civic Type R. You should have used the GR Yaris Rallye edition (or Circuit Pack as it's known in the UK). Toyota Australia currently have two of these Rallye's in their possession and in the country at the moment and should have supplied it to you for comparison and testing purposes. The Dunlop Sport Maxx tyres on the standard GR Yaris are terrible compared to the stickier Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres that come standard on the Rallye. The fact that your GR Yaris test car used in this video had worn Dunlops that were used in previous test reviews have made this even worse. Also the 2.5kg lighter (per wheel) BBS 10 spoke forged wheels does make an improved difference compared to the heavier Enkei 15 spoke wheels on the base model. Added to that the front and rear Torsen LSD, firmer circuit suspension, functional front brake ducts, recalibrated dampers and power steering should put the GR Yaris Rallye in for a real fight against the Type R. Also you rated the GR Yaris low on practicality and complained about the rear seating. This car is a homologation special and was designed and built for one purpose, and that was to compete and win races in the WRC. If Tommi Makinen had his way, Toyota would have never put rear seats in this car in the first place. The practicality rating should not have been included. I am looking forward to a fairer comparison with the Rallye edition in the near future.
The tyres are the problem. I don't like the dunlops on mine but will wait to change them in the near future. PS Rallye vs Type R second video with updated review Motor.
Don't you get the circuit pack version it's only 1k more in the UK you get lsd & better tyres better race suspension & lightweight forged mag wheels forgot the red calipers
2 hot hatches at a very similar price, doesn't get much fairer than that- any potential buyer of 1 of these is likely to be considering the other. I changed cars last year just before the Yaris came out. CTR was on my list and I'd have tested the Yaris too if it was out by then.
In regards to brake rotors, bare in mind that there is the factor of water evaporation due to heat, and on a circuit racing track water evaporates at a very high rate due to very high temps, on the other hand if ones drives around town at slow speeds, the temps might be much lower but so is the necessary stopping power and in this case water affects the needed efficiency outcome of the brake system little to none. Having drilled and grooved disks though does help up to a point with water dissipation, and it also reduces the weight of a brake disk, especially if the aftermarket disk rotor's density is less than that of the oem one. The drilled/grooved section of a rotor is mostly there to accelerate heat dissipation under hard driving in high ambient temps. Rotating assembly slowing down through the gear change condition is not a problem, as it partially eliminates the need to rev match, the problem with a flywheel of increased mass lies with its robbing energy effect, less power at the wheels. Another point is that a 3 cylinder 4 stroke engine may have less strokes than a 4 cylinder 4 stroke one per rev, but that does not mean that it needs a bigger flywheel, it might need a heavier (of more mass) but not bigger in diameter flywheel so as to be able to store more energy in it, but that also depends on the rest of the rotational assembly's mass. Both cars are excellent but are also very different so not comparable in my opinion, the one is a front wheel drive GT type of car, and the other is a four wheel drive rally car, even so, for the comparison to be more relevant and accurate, one needs to test the GR Yaris RZ High performance, with the LSD torsen diffs and the more suited to it tire type and compound as that would indeed change the way the new Yaris handles. I personally like equally both cars. Nevertheless good video overall.
The finance deals are far better on the Yaris. Even if I wanted the civic type R, I couldn't afford it because Honda's finance deals are terrible. This is an important fact given nearly everyone finances cars. The Yaris is all weather which probably makes it better for us rainy UK folk.
Not a very fair comparison, considering the Type R costs $10k more, or $22k more for the first 1000 people that bought the Yaris. But to be fair, there is no straight competition to the Yaris, but maybe an i30N would be a closer comparison.
@@neilcajote Hi Neil, we sure did! At 16:30 we say “I love that it exists, I love the engine, I love how it looks... and kudos to Toyota for building it because the world is a richer place for having this car”. And later we call it a “tremendous little thing”.
It was a little unfair to trash the Yaris score for practicality given its purpose (WRC) and the Civic is an enormous car. I always wanted to love the Civic being a Honda fan but it's so ugly. Tyres should have been changed as well, the LSD will improve pull through the nose but I don't believe it will solve lateral tyre squeal. The LSD car is also 30kg heavier at 1310kg.
We hate having the cross drilled rotors in the 17-19. They cause so much more brake dust and they end up getting concentric ripples. Many owners are getting the 20-21 rotors or getting aftermarket slotted or J hook.
Australia is far behind compared to Europe. All our GR Yaris sold so far is the base model. We won't receive the Rallye model (Circuit Pack) until April this year, and even then Australia will only get 200 units.

Might have helped if Yaris was driven in track mode (or Sport mode) These guys thought default was 70% power to rear wheels . It’s not . Default is 60% to the front wheels hence handling in a way he doesn’t like 🙄
I would had like to know with better tires what would had become of the understeer and to be fair if you live in some place with snow then the choice is easy
The one on asphalt I had already saw and is a bit why I wonder if they would had more fun with it. The second one just give the need to go for a ride right now
Entertaining review, thoroughly enjoyable from a kiwi petrol head. My white Yaris GR arrives next month, and here in NZ we get just the one top model for $55K (going up to $60K). @@itsJulianLam nice to secure one whenever it arrives, although we’re never the most patient breed! Here in NZ we have choice of frosted white, black, red or Glacier White. I opted for the latter with red interior stitching. But they all look great, but like the contrast with the aluminium roof with the red and white variants. This comparison is on the opposite end of the spectrum. Two doors against 4 doors, light car against a heavier car, front drive against AWD, cabin is bigger against a cramp one, try to put five persons on each car and test both of them. Civic can be a family car but yaris nope. A pointless comparison nice try though. Try yaris with Ferrari that would be nice. Waiting for to do that comparison. This a funny comparison because you only sits at the front seats please try 5 adults for both car and tell them to choose which one won?
These guys have done a great 2up video, Five Stars boys!! So refreshing having aussie spec cars being really well driven and reviewed!!! I really liked the questioning of the 3 cy engine which needs a large flywheel etc, I never knew that, these guys came up with some really interesting points and questions. The Yaris is obviously a size smaller than the Type R, the engine is really badly presented, looks terrible with the plastic cover. It's plainly more darty like a Mini MP, and compromised aswell, it is going to have a very narrow market. $60,000 for a Yaris!!!!!!!!!????? Virtually ALL reviews of the Yaris GR vs Type R concludes the Type R is unbeatable. Shows you how good the Type R is. Oh and the best Honda is in F1 = Showcases full manufacturers capabilities. F1 is the pinnacle of motor sports and one where other rivals have failed (Subaru, Yamaha, Toyota, Infinity/Nissan/Renault etc).
Their last video about these cars was the Yaris smashing the CTR in a drag race, seems unlikely they'd do that if they're so biased. I easily prefer the Yaris over the CTR, before you claim I'm biased too...

@@xu10j4rs1 You do realise that the Yaris GR was specifically created for homologation purposes to be used in the World Rally Championship? They're not making the Yaris GR just to compete against the Civic, it's for competition and for all terrain.
@@fenwa592 yes clearly I'm fully aware of that. So by your rational the Yaris should only be compared to other new homologation specials, of which there are none. Honestly you're delusional if you think the civic and Yaris can't be compared as road cars.
The comparison was meaningless because the tyres on The GR were stuffed. Can you just imagine the caning those tyres got in the hands of dozens of journos trying to belt the absolute suitcase out of that poor little Yaris? Put a new set of boots on it and it will be a different car.
Thanks you for such a detailed feedback! It helps a lot!
What about driving roads which are not perfect (kind of slightly off road, countrysides etc.). Is Yaris enough comfortable (and better than Civic)?
no point even reviewing it if its not a circuit pack.
You tested the Yaris without the Circuit pack (torsen diffs and suspensions tweaks)... That’s why the car was not so good.
It would probably be north of $70k AUD with the circuit pack. This is stralia, where everyone gets ripped off.

There is no other hot hatch on the market fitted with such inappropriate tyres.

but the GR is more special, especially the performance pack with all-wheel drive and 2 self-locking torsen mechanics.
Well the Honda has a stiffer steering wheel and gives more of a "sportfeeling". Yaris is a rally car and the grip is much better than the Honda. The feeling and the actual performance capability doesn't add up and should be separated. I agree it's a better car though.

First Reaction: SHOCK
So NO circuit pack and no good tires. Pointless video from civic fanboys
Don't you get the circuit pack version it's only 1k more in the UK you get lsd & better tyres better race suspension & lightweight forged mag wheels forgot the red calipers
You can’t test two different categorized size cars and score it fairly

It was a little unfair to trash the Yaris score for practicality given its purpose (WRC) and the Civic is an enormous car. I always wanted to love the Civic being a Honda fan but it's so ugly. The first batch of Rallye's was presold even before Toyota Australia announced its price last November. We only get one colour for the top spec Rallye which is Frozen White (pearl). I believe you guys in NZ can also choose red and black.
Far from a boy racer and hooligan now, but one that appreciates great design, build, quality and driver feedback, which this Yaris GR offers plenty of. I ride motorbikes and scooters, so this almost combines the best of both worlds when I want a good blat and the weather is bad! Can’t wait for delivery now, and congrats on you securing one too 👍
Very subjective review of two beast cars. I’m glad some people like the CTR more as I prefer less GRY’s on the road!
Glad you liked it!
Totally unfair with those bad tires... no wonder the understeer?!
On looks and practability for everyday use its the civic for me.
Good video, no idea why Toyota even make the non circuit pack/rally version.
These guys need a spinning reverse mc shnapp kick to the head for their dribble.
unfortunately you tried the yaris with the wrong tires ... with the pilot 4s it would have been an equal test....aniway nice review!
Agreed. We can’t wait to drive the Rallye version
13:31 fiesta st?
"Tell him he's dreaming!"Your in STI or Golf R territory, and drop alittle more and you've have an S3.
I’d take the GRY even if it cost more than the STi or R or CTR or S3 even.
Rallye version solves the driving issues they had with the car. Most owners have this as a toy so lack of practicality is not a thing.
@@chabobox1 just Yaris Mirrors and lights ;) - in the UK the GR with Curcuit pack (your Rallye) is 60k - no discounts, 12 month wait list with resellers asking 10k over list. The only version worth having is the circuit pack / Rallye
Glad you enjoyed the video Matthew! This was our first attempt at a two presenter format and we were a bit nervous about how it'd turn out. Now we have to start planning the next one. Any cars you'd like to see us put head-to-head? - Alex
Agreed!
Subbed for the Rallye experience.
Yaris is a hyped car than the Civic because it's all new and it's built from scratch
Also because it's a rally homologation special with Tommi Mäkinen. Growing up in the McRae/Sainz/Burns/Mäkinen era means a lot of millenial petrolheads want that thing!
@@ApothecaryTerry I mean this is perhaps the best Rally car that everyone is hyped about.
Just because they started off in a new base!❤️
@@misterpotato4775 and brought back "cheap" rally homologation specials in the automatic transmission and EV´s era
I imagine the Yaris would be a lot more competent indeed in slippy conditions though!
the type r won because the yaris wasnt the top trim. LSD´s, Michelin PS tyres and torque splitting diffs make the difference
These 2 clowns should push for their own Civic type R channel. They were never going to score the Yaris properly...
Butthurt?
Their last video about these cars was the Yaris smashing the CTR in a drag race, seems unlikely they'd do that if they're so biased.
I easily prefer the Yaris over the CTR, before you claim I'm biased too...
CTR FK8 all the way!
If you just want a fun car for yourself then yaris
But if you want a fun car that can handle some baggages then honda
Why is everyone comparing these cars ..they are 2 different class cars ..you can not compare these cars ..
Both similarly priced hot hatches.
@@xu10j4rs1 But both built for completely different purposes.
@@fenwa592 /exactly the same, fast road and track hatchback, bizarre that anyone would question them being compared. It's literally the raining champion of hot hatches Vs the new pretender.
I hate these comparisons because these are 2 completely different cars besides both being a hatchback.
Terrible reviews , tests were a joke and having driven both cars the Yaris ia a far better car. Certainty on UK ROADS.
It's Giselle bunchen v Kathy burke.
Aye Kathy looks like a Civic
