- Last summer we headed to the Ural HQ in Seattle to pick up a Ural Motorcycle for a 10-day trip down through the states to Los Angeles. We passed through 4 states covering 2,200 miles, largely off-road on the Back Country Discovery Routes.

With a Ural it’s all throttle and very little clutch. Ural has come a long way. I had a 2005 Patrol and I currently own a 2010 Gear Up. My wife absolutely loves it and when I have my frustrating moments with it and mention to my wife, I think I’m going to sell it”, she loudly says,”No!!!” 😄 Ural is the most fun you can have in a motorcycle but it requires allot of tinkering. Not a big deal, it just the nature of the machine. Owning a Ural is a lifestyle. It’s not for the shy type as it’s a magnet for curious folk. It’s all good….
I have a Russian friend that lives near me here in the United States. I expressed my interest to him about Urals. He said he wouldn't get one. He probably only experienced the really older models. I think I'll still get one especially a new one.
The scenery is absolutely stunning, and you didn't trash mouth the Ural. I'm going to take a serious look at getting one for myself. I've been looking at them for a few years now anyway. I had a Globe sidecar hooked up to an old Beemer several years ago, soooooooo. I'm 75 years young, so a sidehack makes sense to me! Have fun on your rides, and yes, make as few rides on the interstates as possible.😂
Great video. Looking forward to getting dirty on my Ural!
Great fun. Enjoyed your movie as I recovered from surgery at home. Got to get me a bit on the side!
Great video guys, Well done!
Unbelievable trip, the humour is funny as well, two excellent characters, thank you lads....👍🏻👌🏻☺️
Next time the Continental Divide, thanks for the ride
Sounds like a plan!
I keep thinking there will be a Ural in my future. Great video.
Awesome ride! I just bought a 2022 ural, it's ny second brand new ural. Absolutely love these bikes and when I wear this one out I will buy another! Nothing gives you the experience that a ural does
That awesome! We think they're great fun. What colour have you gone with?
@@TheSidecarGuys slate grey, my last ural was urban camo
kings of roads !
This is a great vlog. Not sure why it doesn’t already have like a million views! 🤠
Thanks! Pleased to hear you enjoyed it 😀
Gents, that was cracking. Really well put together, a cool story for a place of the world I’ve not seen much before, and some banter between the two of you. I think I speak for all to say we need more of these adventures. 👏👏👏
Thanks Gordon! Pleased you enjoyed it!
I love that you enjoyed my neck of the woods in Cali. Death Valley/Lone Pine area.
What a place! Will definitely be back to explore more in the future!
👍👍👍👍👍Great tour. For me, the highlight was when they went from Hungary to China for the Olympics with a Hungarian-made 50-year-old sidecar Pannónia. The 250cc 15-horsepower engine. They went out and came home. But this is also remarkable. Congratulations!!
Just a bit of petrol! 🤣 (#firestarter)
😅 it went out about 2 seconds later too
Excellent. 2 x Kiwis 2 x bikes on our way through Kent this coming summer. Put the kettle on 👍🏍🏍
Sounds great!
Very Cool! Looking forward to more!
We want more!
Hopefully there will be more 😀
wonderful trip guys, cheers from Argentina!
Thanks Marcos!
This was fantastic! Love the video. Hope to see more. From Texas.
Thanks! Pleased to hear you enjoyed it. Definitely more to come 😀
That’s the most overloaded sidecar I’ve ever seen, and we have TWO! 😂
Haha! It was fairly overloaded for sure. It was largely down to the camera stuff etc. But we never had any problems off or on road with that. The Mosko bags we used were great too!
Great video guys. Good to see back out with the chair. Looks like the BDR is now on our route (we'll use the bridges...). 😂
Thanks for watching guys! Yeah you should definitely check it out there's some great riding!
@@TheSidecarGuys Other than your refusal to use the bridge, anything particularly gnarly you didn't care to share?
A little earlier in the year warmer
Great as always
got my SUB!
That was really well put together. Chapeau, guys!
Thanks Fritz! Pleased to hear you enjoyed it 😀
Love it!
Thanks Flo!
Friend of mine bought one 1975 brand new for $400 dealership in Tehran and we traveled to north of Iran forest south of Caspian Sea
That machine was fantastic going into the mountain range route and forest
Wow that sounds like a cool trip!
Awesome chap's cheers 👍🏻
Thanks!!
Just a bit to much petro to get that fire started . 🤣🤣🤣. International hotel 🤣🤣
Haha yeah we wont be trying the petrol again!!
Keep your water bottles in your sleeping bags (at night) to keep them from freezing. 😎
Just one of a million lessons we learned from our Olde Man while winter camping.
Good idea!
A great adventure for sure, and a superb high definition recording, even though it's uploaded in 1920x1080. UA-cam has still converted it to a very high quality VP9 codec, while it converts mine to AVC1 which looks like shit, unless I upload in 2.7k and above, which uses all my data very quickly.
What did I tell you about driving into water.... There could be a huge sink hole... Are well you'v got this far... Nice one chaps be in touch...
that bit in warren reminds me when I was hammock-camping my way through the west on a 2000 Yamaha V-star 1100. was in NW Oregon on some mountain byway, stopped at a rest area for the night. it was 70 something during the day, but it dipped into the 20s at night. I put on all my clothes and sat under the hand dryer in the bathroom at the little rest area I was camped at. it wasn't fun. I didn't realize how cold it was until I got up early the next morning and saw a quarter of an inch of ice on my bike.
It's amazing how cold some places can drop to overnight isn't it! Fortunately, we had the pub close by!
How many times did you need to stop to let the Ural cool down in Nevada and Death Valley?
Just the once and that was because we were doing sandy stuff in Death Valley. Was completely fine apart from that 👍
@@TheSidecarGuys I'm surprised! The engine overheats so easily in hot weather. You're supposed to stop every two hours for 20 min or so. Good to hear you had no issues!
We have a couple of things in the U S. One is large cans of bear spray, the other is guns!!!
I prefer guns... bear spray is for wussers!😂
That’s where I bought my 2022 Ural GearUp @ Ross’s.
They're great guys!
😂😂❤Ural 👍👌
Noraly should do an adventure ride on a Ural.
Not many motel rooms come with a pick axe on the wall !😂
You didn’t do the URAL justice. Little description I.e. Russian make, flat twin, two wheel drive via the sidecar wheel, all wheels interchangeable, reverse gear and a whole lot of other interesting stuff which may be of interest to others.
Great video! Can't help but notice a spare pillion seat? Have passport and international driving licence #justsaying
😂😂 you are on phil!
@@TheSidecarGuys what a wheeze too; open a dealership then go cabbying about on bikes for a living #kudos
Are you based in Newcastle?
Cruising Rattlesnake Freeway , yeah .
It was awesome!
hi im going to be getting a ural but ive been trying to get an answer about how is the ural two wheel drive in snowy conditions? does it travel well on snowy roads?
Hi Hunter! In our experience, a Ural is great on snowy roads! But you wouldn't want it to be in 2WD constantly for this, there is no differential when in 2WD meaning the Ural just wants to go straight. 2WD is really used if you get stuck or something but 99% of the time it isn't needed. But would definitely be useful if you were really struggling in the snow. Hope this helps!
@@TheSidecarGuys thank for your answer! I have one more question and I was wondering if taking the side car off is possible? If so have you done it and are you able to make a video showing us your opinion?
@@Hunterlp2022 No problem! Are you thinking of taking it off to ride solo? It's possible but we certainly wouldnt recommend it. A ural is built with a sidecar in mind meaning it handles great with a sidecar but would not be good to ride without a sidecar.
@@TheSidecarGuys okay understood just a curious thank you for responds
Yea - it's a shotgun blast through a sign. It's kind of a guage of how remote you are. In this case - not very...no problem, mate, carry on.
Do you sell and supportright hand drive 3x2 wd in the UK? Would love to ownand oerateone here in South Afica. There is a Ural 3x2 world waiting to be enjoyed here. From Desert to Alpine to coastal and true African bush environments to explore. I wan'wun
Yes it would be amazing to ride a Ural in SA. We loved it on our scooter and sidecar trip but couldn't get too far off the tarmac with that!
My backyard
Very jealous!
@@TheSidecarGuys Well maybe someday I can tear up Scotland on one of your backwards rigs......
PODEROSA URAL
They were like yeahhh screw Oregon just avoided the whole state...lol
Haha, we love Oregon! Were sadly just short on time and have travelled through before, definitely one to visit again though in the future.
Definetly a nice vehicle ❤but man, that engine is noisy. 😢
I don't understand how I get a better sidecar for 400 in the Philippines but every western company wants 4k plus
I want a sidecar for my Dominar 400 in Philippines, maybe will get a trike builder to make me one. Am 76 riding since 15 in USA, never dropped a bike but it's time to slow down.
Itchy boots stayed at that first place.....
@whiteAfrikkkanNun I care.
That’s beatle kill not fire.
