Yes! Do you like them enough Dawn, to use them again or will they go? Most people say, well, I don't know, Ill just put them in this closet for now, just in case!
I love you channel , Dawn! I’m fourteen and you have helped my family and me so much with decluttering . When I watch your videos , it makes me feel like I am visiting a friend . Your my favourite UA-cam channel !!!!!! Much love ❤️ - Brielle from Canada 🇨🇦
I paused the video and went right into my kitchen and packed a box with "The Twelve Days of Christmas" water glasses. These were from my childhood and my mom used them every Christmas for brunch. They were very sentimental to me but since my mom passed away 15 years ago, and as I get older and know that my one and only daughter does not want them, I have decided to donate them and bless someone else with them. After having to clear out my parents home after living in the same place for 35 years, I know I don't want to keep hanging onto things that my daughter will have to clear out as I age. I am only going to keep things I use most of the time. I will NEVER be a minimalist, but you are helping me let go of unnecessary and unused items. Thanks Dawn!
I love that you're thinking of the next generation now. It's very smart and thoughtful. It is hard when we no that nobody will want our "stuff". Keep up the good work!💕
After my dad passed in 2007 (my mom had already passed) my two sisters and o had so much to deal with since he kept everything from the house even when he moved to a condo. I am just now starting to get rid of items that I chose to keep but didn’t have space or use of anymore. It was hard as some pieces my dad had made like my old bedroom furniture! But when I sold it to someone else who loved the design I was so happy. It is difficult but when you’re ready to let it go it’s a great weight off. And I agree the next generation don’t want our stuff! And we shouldn’t put that burden on them.
I’m going to ask for this set now for my birthday! I have always loved the little Christmas mugs I see everywhere but never drink hot drinks, a collection like this would be super special to me. Both my husband and I realized we love each other on our first Christmas together when I decided to give him 12 small gifts to commemorate the 12 days of Christmas. 😍
I do a modification of this. Since I have to meal prep multiple meals at once for bringing to work over the next several days, I keep two different designs of storage containers made for meal prep. However each set cane with 10. I don't need 10 of each, so I kept 5 of each and donated the rest. I keep them stacked together with their lids and it works extremely well in my space. And yes, depending on what I make, I do sometimes use all of them at once.
I just cleaned out my Tupperware cabinet and pulled them all out, put lids on, threw away the ones without lids and then rehomed some to my donate box. It is so nice now. These videos are so inspiring for me.
YES! I switched to her method just yesterday and my gosh it looks so much better, we immediately realized we had so many mismatched items, and were able to toss the broken stuff as well. I think we could rid of even more but I'm holding out to see. But my goodness its definitely looking so much better already
The plant is a pothos. Love them! They require diffused light and are hard to kill. I now have my grandmother's nearly 90 year old pothos! It had to be trimmed back a lot but now looks so healthy! My tip: don't let them get too long. Just pinch off the, growth near,a nodule and it will regrow. Love your channel and kitchen!
I hope that will be me soon!! I've been watching these thru my 3rd pregnancy and couldn't do anything, but now my sweet baby is 6 weeks old and I've already gone thru her clothes and tackled her brothers' clothes today!
I love that your daughter was like, "do we still need these?" good job mama. After I saw you storing the lids on your "leftovers" containers - I took out all my plastic stacked up containers, kept the bottom to use for organizing drawers, then replaced the plastic ones with 5 glass ones with lids that I store with the lids on. I'm so much happier with this system.
Im doing the minimal declutter game, but im doing it backwards through the month, so today is 30 things, tomorrow 29. Maybe that will get some stuff out..lol.
I did that for the month of April, and it was wonderful! It worked so good that my husband is playing this month with his tools and hobby supplies, and I am playing it again with my shed only! Good luck!
Makes sense: if you’re doing it right, you’ll have less and less to declutter as you go through the month. Me, on the other hand could get rid of 30 per day for years!
If I was the one that donated it - I would be so happy and say “Hey, look at that, my blue dish just found a great home.” And it went to my Fav - the Minimal Mom.

Simple and beautiful redecorating🪴🤍💙 I love when you said, “I don’t have to explain myself to you.” 🙌🏼 Thank you for always giving permission to “you do you”.
I had to pause the video for this so I wouldn't forget..."I don't have to justify myself to you"...EXACTLY, why do we always feel the need to do that?!
My experience has been 3-fold: 1) it seems to be a gender linked trait, meaning I have seen more women than men express this position; 2) we believe if we use enough words, we can convince the other person to alter their opinions; and 3) those who have enough to eat and live comfortably in a first world country have been infected with societal guilt because we do have more than others. JMO.
I think it has to do with so many judgmental people... at least in my life. For whatever reason, I feel the need to justify, as if I’ve done something wrong or stepped over an imaginary boundary... Absolutely crazy! Thank you Dawn, for ‘not having to justify!’ 😊 Something I definitely need to work on...
PS- I probably should have mentioned that the end of this comment was a rhetorical question, but I appreciate the time and effort and kindness put into answering. 😊 💟
I love your decor in your kitchen. I needed a new sheer for my guest room window, and I ran into Goodwill,as we were there bringing a truckload of donations. I found a beautiful lace sheer for $1.99. God provides! ....Dawn Roberta.

Good job Dawn, I am growing with you. Thank you for allowing us to try and fail and really understand that we’re learning a fantastic freedom to be able to live feeling good about our environment!
I cannot begin to tell you how much you have helped me when it comes to not only decluttering, but also when it comes to appreciating the end result. Cleaning our living room has always seemed so daunting to me so that is where I started the decluttering. I spent time looking around the room thoughtfully and then got started. I cleaned out and reorganized the bookcase and then just went around the room, making decisions. Instead of now dreading to clean this room, I am enjoying the beauty of uncluttered spaces. Now you have given me so many ideas for the kitchen! Thank you so much, Dawn!
I switched my container storage to your lid-on method and now I have fewer containers I feel like I have so many more! It works! My friends and family don’t believe me but I swear by it. It makes me happy every time I get a container! 👍
You helped me get rid of soooooo much "stuff" in my kitchen that was taking up mental space as well as physical space! My grown kiddos were happy to have some and the rest was gifted or sold!! It feels so much better not having things falling of my cabinets that I never used!! Thank you, thank you, thank you! You speak my language.... or I'm learning to speak yours!
I loved the balance of this video - decluttering, but then a touch of decorating. Your home always looks warm and livable, and I think it's because you've found this same balance in your life. I think that was the lesson of the video for me - ruthless decluttering for simplicity is the "base color" for a good life, but allowing yourself 10% of an "accent color" or fun, more frivolous stuff that makes your heart happy.
@@TheMinimalMom I would call it a mid century modern serving dish. I would have snapped it up myself 😀. Never heard of the zigzag method of display, will try it
Loved this video! I am currently in the process of decluttering/minimizing/cleaning/decorating my entire house. I love the photos at the end of the 60/30/10 color balance. That will be so helpful to make my home feel pulled together. You are the best! Thanks, Dawn!
I really liked how your daughter realized something wasn’t being used, and asked to take it out. You hesitated because you paid for it and the other items you didn’t pay anything for them. Your leading example is working. It is rubbing off on your daughter who now is developing skills which will see her through her life. I just think that is so cool (that’s maybe not the right word - but it’s late and I can’t think of another one). Way to go to the Minimal Mom - I just love you and your family and appreciate and enjoy your Video’s a lot. Thank you
I just keep one type and size of tupperware so all the lids are the same. I just have one stack of tupperware bottoms and the lids stand up in a container next to them. Super easy to grab and put up.
Food storage containers with the lids on was the best tip ever! When I changed to doing that my husband grumped and fussed, and there was a lot of pearl clutching and man-vapors on his part. All this over some old lunchmeat containers. (They are the best by the way.) Anyway, after a couple of weeks he said, "Ya know, I really like storing these with the lids on. So much better! So much easier!" Yep. Thank you Dawn! ❤
Hello Dawn. Love love love your channel. I am in the process, well I am always in the process of decluttering. But now that my kids are gone and the last one is leaving soon. I am really excited to get really serious about it. All those items I have held onto for the kids to use when they leave will be gone with him or gone for good. I love to watch your videos in the morning while I am having my morning coffee. You inspire me for the day. Then I get up and get on with my day. Thank you! And keep up the great work. ❤️❤️
I've scrapped all decor. Clear surfaces, clear walls. A woman reaches a certain hot, anxiety ridden time in her life and she can't stand to see anything. Sometimes I get so overwhelmed inside my own head I walk around saying more needs to go!! So no decor,no no no.
Have you tried writing down the thoughts that keep cycling though your mind? Recording them in a notebook helps me stop focusing on them. I know I won't forget completely because the thoughts are written down.
Love your videos! Thank you for what you do. What you are talking about with the expensive stuff is the sunk cost fallacy. It's been so helpful to me in many ways! In addition to helping me let go of things, it also helps me stop reading books I'm no longer enjoying/benefitting from and leave food on my plate if I am full/don't really Iike it!
Ha! "Think about a spot in your kitchen that does not work well." That would be the whole kitchen! Arrrg! I spend a lot of time trying to get the kitchen straight. But it is always a mess. I envision a lovely kitchen with clean, uncluttered counters, but I can barely find an open space when I need to do something! The kitchen is my family's dumping ground, prep space for coming activities, food preparation, and storage place for so many things. I have much more work to do! Thanks for your videos, Dawn! I need them!
A couple of weeks ago I begged you for this video. I've downsized and struggle with kitchen STUFF. I got several excellent decluttering suggestions & now you & others are covering the topic. I feel heard. ❤ Thank you for reminding me to use my stuff, not spend energy caring for it. If I don't use, I'm going to go lose it. Cost & Guilt, get out of my way. Now, decorating is so much fun. Just making a few changes here & there seasonally is enough to make my day. I no longer feel the need to decorate constantly, like I'm a teacher and decorating all over my house every holiday is required. I'm over it. Kids are grown & I'm really getting into less is more... so decorating in strategic places & with less stuff makes me happy. Lastly, I LOVE THE SHAPE & COLOR OF YOUR NEW SERVING DISH! Adorable & hope you always enjoy your home!🙂
I love how your videos always show up in such a timely manner - wish I could screenshot you my notes from this morning- I designated February for a declutter every day - the number of items of the day - so today 4 items go - the real challenge I put on myself is: 4 items per room - living room/ bedroom/ bathroom/ kitchen and closet- only on day 4 that means so far I discarded 50 items 😮whaat ? From old make up to chipped old German pottery - to expired spices and useless do dads- it’s already beginning to be harder deciding but I’m committed- thanks for all the motivation!!
Always enjoy your videos Dawn! I just tuned in while going through my kitchen cabinets trying to find things to let go of. Sometimes I get a little stuck because everything has always fit in my cabinets. De-cluttering over the last few years has definitely lightened the inventory. I feel that I am sometimes a little blind to the things I'm used to just seeing be there even if I don't use them. I am getting rid of 3 things today. One is a squat tupperware pitcher with the push button in the lid.🤣 Does anyone remember those? Even though it is old it was hardly used. It is crazy because I have not used it in years and yet I wanted all this time letting it take up space because I spent money on it and it is perfectly good. You have said that many times. Thanks for your inspiration!!
Two things I learned from your declutter series that have made my life so much easier: store your plastic containers with lids and only keep enough dishes for the two of us in the cupboard which forces us to do the dishes regularly. NO MORE MESS! Thank you!
Yes on lids with containers I save time and organize it better. Pothos is the plant you have the cuttings from and remember to change it daily if not every three days the water gets cloudy and could kill plant . We’re redoing some of our apartment like our decor and things like shelf’s etc. Love your idea and yes thrift stores come in handy. Love me some plants 🌱 too. Have 3 vases with cuttings . Want herbs but honestly can’t trust my cat lol. Hope you have a great week .
Storing with the lid on is way more easy!! I never tried it before seeing you do it. I would get mad every time I reached for tupperware. Not anymore. Thanks!
I’m so impressed with your passion for explaining the value of things emotionally and logically. You have made the Littlefield House a better place to be for myself my Husband and the Children! God bless and thank you!
I always store leftover containers with the lids on. It just makes more sense to me. And it’s a perfect way to force yourself to limit the number that you have. A tip for the philodendron - to keep it from getting too leggy and to promote more bushy growth, snip off some of the longer pieces right were a leaf is. You can then root those new cuttings in water, if you would like.
Yes I have the same questions - are you now saving them so you can switch between the blue, yellow and white or will you get rid of the items you removed? I feel like if you get rid of them then you are always buying something new every year and not saving money.
Wedding present-decluttered :) I had that wavy blue dish in green. It was a chafing dish with a chrome stand for the votive candle to keep things warm.
Love the blue accents! Great tip on the zig zag pattern, now I know why I couldn't get my decor to be just right. Can't wait to use the organizing tips in my cups and Tupperware cabinets!
Dawn, I simplified my kitchen based on your suggestions-one place setting per family member. I told my husband I was going to try it for a week. The first day I fell in love with it-it’s been months now. It has definitely made my life easier. Thank you so much!
I switched over to putting storage containers away with the lids on and I love it!! I love that I did the work when I wasn't in a rush to put food away. After meals, I can grab a whole set, throw the food in the frig and get back to family time. It is really nice Dawn~ 💕
👍👍I v much like 💖 the questions you tell us to ask ourselves for deciding about things to keep, donate or throw away. Thanks a lot. Your videos are v helpful.
I began storing containers with lids on after seeing that in one of your older videos. It has made such a difference, not only in controlling clutter, but seeing what I have and how much! Fantastic idea!
I really enjoyed this video, Dawn! You are my very favorite UA-camr - I ALWAYS feel good after watching your videos, and yours are the only ones I actually look forward to - “Yea, it’s Tuesday (or Friday) - I wonder if Dawn has posted her video yet?” You not only inspire me to declutter, you continually re-inspire me, as well! May I make a tiny “balance” suggestion: center your coffeemaker under the white cabinet - it seems to interfere with the balance of your beautiful open shelves. Love you all!
the blue looks cute, but i also think just the white on its own, with the plants would look really nice. Always nice to have a change with the seasons :-) my kitchen is totally multicoloured with plant pots etc, but is otherwise pretty minimal (totally decluttered), so i think it works! I love your design tips
i did this with our containers last weekend and we donated 4 boxes full of plastic containers! received a lot of push back from my family at first but they all quickly realized how convenient it was to not have to fumble around with lids and containers every time. thank you minimal mom!
I’m a new viewer to the channel and I’m starting my decluttering in my house. I’m a busy mom of 2 and also going full time to school and working all at the same time. I crave simplicity and these videos are very helpful.
Dawn, do you have a place where your yellow things will be stored so you can decorate with yellow again? I have a cupboard in my basement to store things that I like and want to keep to rotate my decor. You didn't mention what happens to the things you took off your shelves. If you are really "over them," then I guess you would donate them...but do you have a stash of pretties somewhere so you can decorate differently or use a different color of drinking glasses now and then?
This was SO freeing! THANK YOU! We have a set of plates and bowls that were given to us by a late family member, but we don’t use them because they crack when put in the microwave…yet they’re taking up all this space in our cabinets.
I did your lid on Tupperware/food storage container lid on only while you were saying it in a video. I threw away 12 lids that went to nothing lol. And containers without lids. Best idea ever!
Thank you so much for watching! You can find the playlist for the other videos here!: cli.re/Kitchen-Collaboration

@@TheMinimalMom I would call it a mid century modern serving dish. I would have snapped it up myself 😀. Never heard of the zigzag method of display, will try it
I received it as a wedding gift in 2008. It was a fondue set with a metal stand that held a tea light candle 😀
@@cortneybuell3144 seriously!?! That’s really funny to know!
Loved this video! I am currently in the process of decluttering/minimizing/cleaning/decorating my entire house. I love the photos at the end of the 60/30/10 color balance. That will be so helpful to make my home feel pulled together. You are the best! Thanks, Dawn!
I love the peacefullness of your new blue decor
I love the zigzag idea for decorating the shelves! Thanks for sharing!
I did the diagonal colors in my very large glass cabinet, wow!!! My husband even noticed!!! It looks so much better!!! Thank you!!!
I just matched my lids to containers. I am totally sold. Thanks soooo much
Putting the lids on the containers makes so much more sense!!
That's funny! lol
Sometimes we just need a totally clean slate, don't we?? Cheering you on to get rid off all that "stuff" not serving its purpose! 💪🏼
Have you tried writing down the thoughts that keep cycling though your mind? Recording them in a notebook helps me stop focusing on them. I know I won't forget completely because the thoughts are written down.
I don’t think I’ll ever get old enough for that to happen to me.
😭😭😭😂😂😂
I've already reached that point at 26. Also cheering you on, we don't need so much stuff!
Thank you!
I know very little about decorating. Thank you for showing us how to do this with minimalist perspective
I 100% love storing my leftover containers with the lid on. Thank you!!
Thank you! Your tip of reducing containers and storing with the lids on from previous videos. It has been life changing for my kitchen storage. lol
I loved this, and I needed the reminder about whether my stuff is serving me. Thank you Dawn for your honesty, clarity and generosity x
Agree with you. I always store with the lids on! So much better.
I love that 2-tone vase and blue dish, Dawn! Thanks for the great decorating tips. Love the fresh new look of your kitchen shelves!
I love the new blue decor on the shelves and I love the blue stools ! Peaceful.
Curious, what will you do with the yellow decorations you replaced?!?
I came here to ask the same thing. I thought for sure she would end with that, but that didn't happen.
I’d say they will be donated, they were in the car right away
I say she’ll store them elsewhere. They were actually useful items...cake stand and pitcher.
Inquiring minds want to know LoL
Yes I have the same questions - are you now saving them so you can switch between the blue, yellow and white or will you get rid of the items you removed? I feel like if you get rid of them then you are always buying something new every year and not saving money.
I learned so much in 17 minutes! Thank you so much 🥰
I ❤ the zigzag rule! It really does work.
I have just opened the cupboard and put the lids on all our storage dishes 👍 thank you for all your tips & tricks.
I need to go back over my food storage containers again. You make so much sense. Thank you
I love that blue casserole dish! Great find!
Love that teal bowl from the thrift store!
Wedding present-decluttered :)
I had that wavy blue dish in green.
And you don’t have to worry about dust getting in the storage containers! Great idea!
The shelves look super cute! I love how the plant looks in that adorable blue vase.
I switched over to putting storage containers away with the lids on and I love it!! I love that I did the work when I wasn't in a rush to put food away. After meals, I can grab a whole set, throw the food in the frig and get back to family time. It is really nice Dawn~ 💕
Your cheerfulness and laughter make you my favorite! Wish we could hang out in person
I’ve started storing my Tupperware with lids and it is game changer!!
“I don’t have to justify myself to you!” Boom 💥 way to take that thought captives - lol 🙏👏👏👏👏👏❤️
I absolutely love the themed collabs you're doing. It's really fun seeing my favorite UA-camrs tackle different projects.
I love the new look on your kitchen shelves. It really is calming.
Blue is my Favorite color. I have Lavender & Purple Pink 💜in bathroom.
Congratulations on 420k!! Wow!! 🎉🥳🎉
Thank you for that decorating and color tips! I absolutely love the 60, 30, 10! It makes so much sense
Yes! I converted to storing containers with their lids, and i love it, i'll never go back.
I've never heard the zig zag tip, thank you!
the blue looks cute, but i also think just the white on its own, with the plants would look really nice. Always nice to have a change with the seasons :-)
my kitchen is totally multicoloured with plant pots etc, but is otherwise pretty minimal (totally decluttered), so i think it works!
One of your very best videos, Dawn!!!
Another brilliant conversation and tips, thank you. The little OCD I have wanted the blue and red lidded containers stacked like with like though 😆
Me too! Hmmm...ocd. really?
Me too… I was actually saying out loud “stack the 3 red together and the 3 blue” !!! Making 2 symmetrical stacks. ❤️❤️❤️💙💙💙

I did your lid on Tupperware/food storage container lid on only while you were saying it in a video. I threw away 12 lids that went to nothing lol. And containers without lids. Best idea ever!
