Dude, you're a real legend. You paint these classic heroes like they're greek gods; the lack of visible linework and the dynamic lighting, and the overall smoothness of everything... Gives me chills! It's so great to see the characters in simple costumes. I don't hate the modern armor but to me Batman is a highly trained man in a cloth suit. You NAIL that. Some of the best Batman art... Ever.

@@citycrusher9308 He’s been my dream casting for years-so perfect. He’d still work as a veteran Batman, like Ben Affleck’s was, and he’s even recently said he’d love to play the character, but it sound like James Gunn wants to take the DCU into a young-new-superheroes-y direction, so I guess that dream will never come true 🥲

@@citycrusher9308 In the JLA letters section (yes, DC printed letters to the book editors way back when), they asked for readers casting a JLA movie, with actors living or dead. James Franciscus of Longstreet was Barry Allen/Flash, Don Galloway of Ironside was Hal Jordan/Green Lantern, Chris Reeve was Clark Kent/Superman of course, Lynda Carter was Diana/Wonder Woman, and John Gavin of Psycho and Spartacus was a contender for Bruce Wayne/Batman. It was a great discussion topic, long before the internet and bulletin boards and IRC. Too bad that Alex can't use some old headshots to put them in costume... ;-)
EDIT: I forgot that Lyle Waggoner (of later Carol Burnett Show fame) was competing with Adam West for the Batman TV show job...

Books: literary stories that paint a picture and feelings with words. Read at your pace. Take with you anywhere.
Movies: visual moving experience that uses sound, scenery, action and dialogue to 'lead' you through an experience, like a rollercoaster, no pauses.
Comic books: best of both worlds. You can't hear anything, so maybe your eyes and brain get to "savor" the imagery more. Unlike a movie, you own this scene. You're holding it in your hand, not hitting pause on a screen using electricity. Unlike a book, it's showing, not telling. All movies start as comic books, anyway with storyboards. And screenplays, often derived from novels are written. So, there you go, comics truly are the halfway point between novel and movie. So many kids learned to read just because of them.

I actually completely love the skin tight fabric Batsuit. As time has passed and whenever modern comics use the classic iconic batsuit, my imagination has projected unto the fabric as being something that is designed and engineered in the batcave. So even though it isn't obvious armor, it is nonetheless very hyperdurable material with the capacity to absorb impact, energy, etc.
I imagine as if superman's fabric based costume has the same durability as superman as so for the most part when superman has bullets bounce off of him, his suit is also not bothered. I imagine Batman's traditional suit to essentially have the same phenomenon, but not by means of being alien but because Bruce is a Polymath and has mastered every field of expertise on the planet and has essentially engineered a fabric with a superhuman quality. I long for a live action Batman that has a skin tight suit almost like the comics, but is adapted to film via the aesthetic of a Navy Seal Tactical swim suit.

    Living Legend.
I first saw his work in a Terminator miniseries in 1988. It was beautiful art, but I could tell he was still learning. By the mid 90s, he was perfect. The Norman Rockwell of comic books. But, I do not consider him the greatest comic book artist of all time. His art would work for any medium. To be "comic booky" requires a degree of cartoonist, stylized imagery. Exquisite, painted art doesn't quite qualify.
So, who is the Greatest Comic Book Artist of All Time?
I want to say Jack Kirby, but he isn't. I could day John Byrne, a double threat as writer/artist, but I won't.
The Greatest Comic Book Artist of All Time is....
    Michael Golden.
    I will prove this assertion.

  • @thereisnosanctuary6184
    @thereisnosanctuary6184 Рік тому

    Two things about Batman movies:
    1) They STILL have not done the proper Joker. They've done some unique takes, especially Joaquin Phoenix's version ( Taxi Driver meets King of Comedy), but have not explored the Alan Moore explanation. He isn't already a bad guy like Nicholson and Ledger. He isn't a guy that puts on makeup like Ledger and Phoenix. He was a nice guy loser with problems, a soon-to-be-father, at that, who was TRANSFORMED physically into The Joker. He can't take the makeup off or decide to put it on when he feels crazy. He was mentally and physically turned into The Joker, a force of chaotic nihilism. Leaving out the permanent physical change makes him seem willfully, an evil man. He is playing make believe like Batman, putting on "a mask".
    2) We want to see the comic book costume used in movies. Since 1989, we've only got the movie version, all black, that only got blacker as they removed the yellow chest symbol and belt. It can still be a sculpt, or it can be a muscular guy like Chris Reeve in spandex with BLANK eyeslits, like the movie Deadpool proved can be done.
