31:57 "Now they can fizzle my Brazen Borrower adventure by sacrificing the Savior" They need to have another creature on board in order to do that, since Selfless Savior's ability targets "ANOTHER target creature you control". He said that when opponent had a revealed hand and the 2nd savior was the best option to play since his only time to cast Petty Theft would be after the 2nd savior resolves. He even mentioned that the Staggering Insight was a topdeck, so we know he didn't expect it when making the first assessment. He also mentioned on his next turn that he could bounce the savior at that time since it was on the board alone with an enchantment on it.
Seems like some target exile effects would be good since Uro is used so often. You could add a couple Cling to Dust, Erebos's Intervention, or Agonizing Remorse might be even better than Thoughtseize
Ive wasted my Wildcard in an Impulse on some cleric cards :^) try the ghoul, its pretty decent and actually wins games and is really fun to play (also counters mill)
When I saw the title, I thought "Well this is going to be a goddamn bloodbath." Wasn't wrong. Would've been a clean sweep if it wasn't for a lucky Ugin at the end. Also, high five for the 3000 i.q. mulligan in match 6.
Sorry if this has already been mentioned. I'm late to the party LVD . I love the content but am confused as to why at 40:15 in match 7 you didn't sacrifice the Passage prior to Ugin exiling the Omnath to gain the 4 life since I came down so close. Am I missing something or is this a rare misplay? Again asking for educational purposes. Love the content and please keep up the great work.
19:43 It's the same damage either way because Zarith will get buffed by the Thought-Thief. So 3+4 or 2+5. But returning Thought-Thief definitely feels right, considering how some of the power he adds is functionally hasty.
@@joep5454 I was comparing Enforcer + Zarith (3+4) to Thought-Thief + Zarith (2+5). Yes, not using Zarith gets you 4+2, but LVD was definitely going to use Zarith there.
Rogues in historic are very strong. I grinded out platinum rank in less than 30 games playing a similar build. only big difference is that i play 4 nighthawk scavenger. The lifelink can really swing a game in your favor against agro. He is also a premium blocker if you need one. I also use curious obsession over though seize.
Great video as always sir! QQ for you. Are you potentially going to do another series of 'upgrading' the default mono & dual-colour decks, now that there's a whole new suite of them. I for one (and from the comments at the time, many, many others) found it so helpful; you do the best, most thought out and calm breakdowns of how to improve decks. I got into the beta at the time, and ground wildcards to fully upgrade numerous decks and build some others from scratch from your instructions. Around the M19, M20 core sets, Ixalan, both Ravnica sets etc. I came back to MTGA after maybe 18 months away. All of those decks are now 'Historic', and I discovered there was all these new ones (well, new to me). I'm really not a good deck crafter at all - so I look for resources. I'd be delighted if you found time do 'round 2' of that series. Though I appreciate you may be very busy.
I wonder if siren storm tamer would be a better include than windrobber, protecting zareth or black guard seems like it would be pretty good, and it’s a rogue as well
that Omnath game is exactly why it needs to get banned opponent tapped out for omnath with 3 lands up and still was able to cast a genesis ultimatum into all that. From basically one card.
I am pretty impressed with your pronunciation most of the times! Words such as "loch" belong to the Germanic language group. Many pure English speakers have trouble with such words. Purely out of curiosity… where did you learn to speak like that?
rogues + counters deck takes that extra bit of tempo and decision-making mtg skill that im pretty weak on. my newbness would have me jusy trying to counter everything and get behind in board... and being unable to take advantage of all the rogue team mechanics
Liito Manuel I won’t downvote LVD due to him being the highest quality MTG UA-cam personality, but this is showcasing the slightly tweaked historic versions of a toxic standard deck that is by far the largest percentage of the ladder right now. People are sick of Rogues, they invalidate basically any sorcery speed deck and forces everyone to run instant speed answers or pure aggro or you lose, and they are just unfun to play against.
@@Tsyras I don't get to play mtg since my laptop broke and I'm not sure I follow exactly what you're saying. But from my point of view, him being a UA-camr he has to provide fresh content and play different decks whether he wants to or not. Only he can say what he likes,. Sounds to me like you don't like that deck which of course everyone has their reasons. But as a supporter of his channel I just look at it as him being a content provider.
@@liitomanuel4106 I agree with you, and wasn't the one who downvoted. I was suggesting a reason why someone would have downvoted so quickly. Seeing "Rogues" could have been tilting haha!
Zareth is another stupid card printed by Wizards. Something that cheap that allows you to put any permanent for free into the battlefield and recycle a etb/adventure creature is just moronic.
Hypnotic Rogues, this is awesome. Oona rocks!

They had two Saviorrs in play, they can target eachother.

You always want some Agonizing Remorses, they always have some use, TS sucks later on.
Agreed on Agonizing Remorse. Dealing with graveyard (Uro) is really important
I like the idea of rogues but everyone and their dog is playing it atm so I'd rather play something else. I wonder if clerics is viable in historic.
You've inspired me fellow hipster, let us see!
Jaja historic wildcards go brrr
Clerics seem good in Penny Dreadful

This is such a satisfying to play tempo deck. It feels like the curious obsession mono blue deck but with waaay more flavor
Your correct pronunciation of blackguard - somewhere between "black guard" and "blaggard" - is a nice touch.
Also, "loch..." 👌

It’s a siren pirate wizard, but not a rogue.
its a fundamental and philosophical flaw dude xD
all pirates are rogues by nature but not all rogues are pirates xD xD
is it ever worth pulling a couple of the tapped duals and or a basic or two for even more mdfc's?
Awakening would be nice, but I think you need the fixing and cutting Swamp makes Catacomb worse.
that Omnath game is exactly why it needs to get banned

Fun fact: Blackguard is actually pronounced "blaggard", and is sometimes informally written with that spelling.
Good to know!
Love being this early to a video
Scheming symmetry is a card that needs to be tried with rogues
Now I know why bitterblossom was not legal in historic... yet.
Why did opponent have to sacrifice a goblin in order to cast Umori at 12:51?
Phyrexian Tower only makes black mana if you sacrifice a creature.

how do we post decks to you for improvement, i got a jank party deck that is tearing ppl up.
I think you have to be a Patron for that.
Legend what do you think of the current state of standar and MTGA in general. Do you think it's the beginning of the end for MTG?
There's a lot of room for improvement, but I think Magic is doing fine.

It's from the recent Mastery Pass

Nah, Zareth is probably one of least oppressive cards in the deck...
To be fair, it can just be a dead card if your opponent doesn't have anything good in your graveyard. At least it can't reanimate your stuff.
Imagine playing the most broken, annoying deck in historic and losing 🤮😂
