RIP Akira Toriyama, the Omni-King of the Universes that is Dragonball, Dr. Slump, Dragon Quest, and more. Your work was the first I was exposed to when I was a child, and began my adventure into the world of anime. Thank you for all you have done.

I was born in 1995, but I never got to experience Dragon Ball. I wasn't really allowed to watch cartoons as a kid, and while the library had the manga for Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z & Dragon Ball GT, they didn't have the early volumes of DB so I never bothered with the franchise. But man do I remember guys from school talking about DBZ and the Budokai Tenkaichi games. Astro Boy was released in the West before but Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball is what truly introduced anime to the West, and it wasn't just America; Mexico and Latin America in general effed with it heavy. Even the manga/anime that I got into as a kid, which was Naruto, wouldn't have been accessible to us or maybe not even released had Toriyama not paved the way. Truly a legend whose legacy will be everlasting. Rest in Peace Akira Toriyama. I never got into your body of work, but the fact that you inspired a shit ton of other creatives into making their own iconic franchises speaks so much to your greatness.

35 years old and the first anime I ever saw was an episode of Dragon Ball. I was 5 years old and I'll never forget how captivated I was and how much I looked forward to watching Dragon Ball on Saturday mornings.
I have enjoyed many animes and mangas ever since and it was all thanks to Dragon Ball.
    R.I.P. Akira Toriyama

Love the love for Toriyama! I'm that typical 31 year old Mexican kid that ran home everyday after school just dying to watch the next Dragon Ball after talking about a previous episode with friends all day at school. Thank you Toriyama-San.

Even if you werent an ultra Dragon Ball fan, it was always present whether you were channel surfing,at a comic con or there was some discussion about Manga on some podcast or panel. The impression he made in the entertainment industry is immeasurable. I remember going to a few Fathom DB events at the movie theatre which were always fun. Rest Well thanks for the many years of entertainment

I still remember how y'all used to have streams discussing DB characters, and as someone who never watched or read the franchise it's how I learned some info, like Kakarot and Goku (two names I had heard as a kid) being the same person, or you guys talking about Master Roshi and Bulma. Truly an iconic franchise, and Jay, you put it best. "The genius that came from this man's brain to his pencil"

I've been stunned and just flipping thru articles and videos all the while as tears are streaming down my face. I wasn't the biggest DB fan in the world or even a big fan. Just a fan. But hearing this just hurts man.

Dang, I just found out by looking at my feed and seeing the title of this stream. What a loss! As a kid one of the earliest memories I have of drawing (which is my passion) is drawing my own Super Saiyan characters. I first watched DBZ on a Spanish channel on Sundays at 6am, I didn't even understand Spanish and would always get sick for some reason waking up that early, but it didn't matter to me. I loved DBZ and I thank Mr.Toriyama helping introduced me to the world of art and anime!

Much love to you fellas. As a martial artist, Akira Toriyama and DBZ hit me on an entirely different level since childhood. Days of training with fellow blackbelts to Gokus ss1 & 3 transformation music will always ring powerfully in my memories. As will the multitude of days I trained along side Goku in my bedroom while he trained on the spaceship on the way to Namek.
I'm forever grateful to this man and his legendary works. Shoutout to you all for taking the time to post this and a special Shoutout to ronin for bringing up Crono Trigger 🔥💯
Blessings to each of you fellas. Keep up the great work, as you're inspirations as well✊🏿

The world of Dragonball will never be the same again. Rest in peace Akira Toriyama sama and my deepest condolences to family and friends. Thank you for all the beautiful childhood memories. You have become eternal because your work is now going to be seen by one generation after the other. You knew Goku and friends better than anyone else out there, and the same goes for your favorite character, Piccolo. Your spirit will live on through the Dragonballs and the wonderful characters that you yourself created. I always like to say "Dragon King Piccolo" to Piccolo's new orange form, but this time it's Dragon King Akira sama. May the power of the dragon be with you, always.

10:07 toonami at that time came on Monday through Friday afternoon and there was a new episode of Dragon Ball Z every day and then once the arc finishes, then they’ll just start the ark over up until they’re ready to release the next arc once they finish dubbing it between the 1998a 2002 era. Then around 2004 and Toonami started to only come on Saturdays 7pm-11pm time slot and then that’s when we started to experience that one episode a week stuff when GT came out. And I wasn’t used to that I remember drag Ball Z coming out five days a week. That took a minute to get used to. At that time the last time drag Ball Z came on once or twice a week was when they used to come on WB channel on Sunday mornings around 1995 to 1997. And the ocean dub at the time would always stop at the Goku vs captain Ginyu fight open till Toonami was created in 1998 and Funimation continued the dub. But this hits different. This is like in the same realm for me when Kobe Bryant passed away like this really hits different. my childhood is shattering. Oh and Dragon Ball filler is hosted btw . To me when it comes to filler34 There’s no anime, touch, touching dragon, ball, or bleach. But Goku, getting his drivers license is one of the greatest filler episodes of all time.
