- It has been a long term goal of mine to buy and use a full gold watch. I was fortunate to realize that goal this year. The experience has been better than anticipated! And those expectations were already sky high. I share my thoughts in this video.

You’ve just talked me out of selling mine. It’s in 36mm yellow. I don’t wear it often but love looking at it.
The great thing about this watch is that it dresses you up with anything you wear, it is just pure class. 😊❤
It's loud and it's obnoxious. It's a "look at me, look at me" type of a watch. Patek is class, JLC is class FP Journe is class. This is a watch to be worn by Russian oligarchs, gangsters, Gypsies and Chinese millionaires who also think that BMW's 7 series grill looks cool.

This is my grail watch. What got me into watches specifically a gold watch was my dads gold plated Seiko 5 DD. He bought it back in the early 2000’s & he wore that watch everywhere with any outfit & i just thought he looked so cool all the time😂 beautiful Rolex hope to buy one soon. That’s a keeper for sure Bruce!
It’s a baller watch, my man. People can say it’s not their taste, don’t like YG, are anti-Rolex, or whatever. None of it changes fact that the YG DD is a straight up BALLER watch. Love that you love it!
Ahah well said! Mine is everose, but regarless, rose gold, yellow gold, platinum, it is a baller’s watch in the great sense of the term!
truth. I shouldn’t have neglected the other precious metals. RG, YG, WG, P…it’s all heavy weight, pro player, straight up mf’n baller.
lol exactly , I don’t like yellow gold as much as rose but alongside the rose DD 40 with the Chocolate Roman Dial I can’t wait to get this Champagne Roman Dial one day

Popular grail piece for a reason, there is such a palpable confidence felt on the wrist whenever you wear it. I was never particularly fond of non-steel watches, but this one changed my mind. Tony Soprano's choice for a reason.
Me too. Always been a “sport watches” guy but after seeing Tony Soprano wearing it and actually seing one in person… wow, it’s definitely the watch I’ll get upon retirement.
Somebody mentioned in another video the steel watches are going for what the precious metal watches are going for go buy a used presidential instead… as a matter fact you could have a white gold and a yellow gold 2000 through 2009 presidential watch for about 40,000 which you would pay for a 40 mm day date from Rolex these days but 36 mm I mean if you really think about it they’ve been around since the 50s the bigger watches didn’t come out until 2010 go figure🤷♂️

Beautiful watch! I had a history teacher back in high school (He was also a rancher) who had a black dial with diamond indices Yellow gold Day-Date.
I don’t care what anyone else says, this is the DADDY of all rolex models. Love the yellow BUT again, for me, got to be the rose, with chocolate diamond baguette dial. Excellent purchase Bruce,

Amazing intro! This is the king watch. Many hate on Rolex but if you consider the fit, finish, robustness, and guaranteed accuracy.... It's silly to argue, Rolex watches are awesome. Agreed, precious metal feels real real good!

Wow Bruce. When I first heard about you selling most of your watches in your collection to buy the gold Rolex- I thought it was a crazy move. But seeing this watch and the history behind it - I begin to understand your decision. Quality over quantity. As a watch collector who has experienced most of the modern watches, going for a mature watch makes sense indeed.
Absolutely love this piece. It’s something to strive for that’s for sure. I think I would go all out and get the baguette dial too!

Bruce, ALL THE BEST to you and your new President! 🎉 I can 100% relate, I was thinking for a long time to consolidate and upgrade to a Day Date in Yellow Gold (what else, right?!). But I'm not there yet. As you may remember I experienced pretty much the same watch collecting phases like you did and I had pretty much all of 'the times'. But I'm still struggling going down with my collection. At the moment I still enjoy my variety of watches but the next goal is definitely coming down to a handful (or two handfuls 😁) of watches. I do want to keep watches from brands that I really love and respect for what they're doing. Not only because of the brand name, looks or tech behind. I still want to have a watch for 'every ocassion' but tbh a handful is more than enough for that goal. In the meantime I continue collecting my personal favorite models as I already skipped the upgrade-donwgrade-upgrade phase as well as the 'I need to have this complication / brand / color / type of watch' phase. Great analysis on the DD40. I have similar wrist size, how many links are on your DD? I took one link off and fits snug, but adding one might be loose.
Beautiful watch maybe one day I can afford one! I just noticed the case looks like the same as my explorer 40 but in stainless obviously. The case sides have a slight roundness to them. Enjoy that piece Bruce! When is your next visit to Millers? I couldn’t make it out last time.

When you see the Roman numerals up close their design language is stunning. Especially the X and Vs.

I would personally be a bit afraid of gold as it's less resistant to any damage than even steel. But looks awesome!

I think it looks absolutely fantastic on-wrist. So classy and versatile. I think I weirdly like it a lot more on-wrist than off. Almost like it needs the context.

Replacing day wheel cost $80 and it can take a very, very long time. At least for me Rolex quoted a year until I can get my watch back. But I agree, it will make this watch even more personal.
I own a datejust with the hidden clasp and Rolex sells 3/4 link for it and I was able to get perfect fit with it. Wonder if they do it for day date also.

when talking about the warmer glow i would say omega is the wrong watch to compare the hue with as they go after a brighter white-ish yellow with the moonshine gold
Cosmetically, this is the ultimate watch for most people. Ideally, a watch should be safe (from robbery) and tough to wear 24/7 for all activities and need not remove from wrist except servicing. Nevertheless, it is beautiful.

lovely watch.. hard as a daily (depending where you live) i would be concernd in some areas...
I bought one in Zurich in 1970 for $700 and still wear it. It had a flush fit bracelate on it. I had it serviced and a Presidents bracelate put on it this year. The pins were worn out. This moved it to a president model. A new one today would cost $ 45,000.

I have a vintage 36mm yellow gold. Not a daily wearer because gold scratches easy. Save it for special occasions
Not too tall, not too top heavy, not too large, not too small…………it is simply perfect in every way! Enjoy it!
What’s your wrist size ? 7”+ ? It looks fantastic on your wrist but gold wears large, just curious so I can scale. I’m 7” wrist on the dot but I think I’d lean toward the 36mm…thoughts?
He has mentioned in other videos that he has a 7.25” wrist. Hope that helps.

Fantastic watch in the best metal ever. The ultimate Rolex and solid bracelet watch despite of the price point ! The president bracelet is king. And for the others, YOU make the watch, the watch doesn’t make you. So you can be detestable and arrogant with a Seiko or a fantastic guy with a YG DD
