7:28 they are actually AA batteries, not AAA. Plus I've found that the rechargeable Energizer batteries I bought work AMAZING! Long life and when two die, I put the new ones on and charge the old. Works perfect.
@@Blz-ys3nr Sunlight can and will damage the Oled Panel permanently within seconds due to being focused by the extremely good lenses on a single Focal point. And having one dead pixel in VR is incredibly annoying, having 10 dead pixels is an immersion breaker.

Got mine yesterday and have most of the necessary accessories minus the battery pack balancer that will be here tomorrow. I've had a psvr for years so its pretty freaking cool!
I also highly recommend you get grip straps. These help keep the controllers in your hand comfortably with an adjustable elastic strap while also keeping the battery cover from constantly sliding off during gameplay. The magnetic cover, while cool, is also a big design flaw because it slips off a lot. I recommend the AMVR covers for Quest on amazon. They have been awesome. Replacing batteries takes a bit longer but it's worth it.
I haven't gotten it yet, but I think playing outside works AMAZINGLY if you got a huge yard like my mom does. I can walk almost any where without needing teleports.

Please DO NOT use the Oculus Quest headset outside during times where it is extremely sunny or weather is poor. Do not use it outside in the rain, storms, or in very windy conditions. These types of damages are of fault to the owner of the Oculus Quest and as such is not covered by Oculus Warranty. Please play indoors or when it is getting dark.

Props to Best Buy man, I was searching for the best and cheapest price for the quest and Best Buy was sold out but it was 399.99 for 64GB. Keep in mind this is in quarantine and while looking for prices, everywhere besides Best Buy was selling a quest 64GB for 6-7 hundred! I just waited for Best Buy to stock up again online and bought it without a regret. Worth the wait, if you’re buying one, choose Best Buy.

I am fairly certain I am receiving a quest as a christmas gift, should I buy a chromecast in advance? Would it work with a fire TV stick? I know for certain my family (who struggle operating the oculus go) will want to try it and screen mirroring would be a good way to get all my family involved
Another tip I heard is that until you get a carrying case, use the box it came in. But do get a case. It’s not substitute, just when your saving for a case or waiting for a shipment.

theres a specialized quest battery that balances out the front weight and i would recommend putting the battery on the back straps some how for some counter weight
Nice Video, though not much new here. There are a few points that need to be made. 1. You can cast to a smart TV 2. Don’t turn off guardian. There is no reason to do this as you can make the boundary as big as you want. 3. Double A. Not Triple A
For the portable charger or even headphone you can also do what I do which is run it through your shirt so your hands wont snag the wire. Been doing that since I was little with everything even ear buds. Now being that its on top of your head instead of like a controller in your lap its tricky with headphones but I can be done.
Oculus has stated that they do not reccomend charging the Quest from a battery bank while playing. Its unknown if this can damage your quest or not. Also the batteries in the controller are AA, not AAA.
Anyone who is looking for better oculus quest comfort right now, I 100% recommend the GoQuestVR V3 Halo Strap. It feels nearly like the psvr, which is awesome. It also fixes the front heaviness and can lead to a better experience. Hope this can help your Oculus Quest experience!
I'm getting interested in this headset. I'm wondering, where does it save the games? Do you download it via app on the phone, then transfer it to the headset? Or the phone just streams it in real time to the headset while playing. Sorry for noob questions. lol
The quest was out of stock forever but I kept checking every day. One night I saw it back in stock and I bought it quickly. I woke up the next morning and it was out of stock again. I’m happy, but apparently it will take forever for it to get here because they are so backed up
Couldn't agree more. I have actually spent more time playing skyrim fallout 4 vr and no mans sky on my quest than the inbuilt games. VD and ALVR work great.
I think the reason the controllers start having difficulty around 30% battery was due to how rechargeables and disposables lose charge. Non rechargeable batteries have a type of power arc where they start fading at around 30%, while rechargeable batteries keep the same performance until they die.
To get software updates and more/new games on the Quest, do you just download it all via wifi? Or, do you have to connect the headset to your computer? Are there any games that are free, or do they all require a purchase to be downloaded? Are there any games (old or new) from Sony's Playstation, Microsoft's Xbox, or Nintendo, that you can play on the Quest or the Rift S? Are there any plans to implement this? Or, are Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo developing their own VR consoles? When will those be released to the public? Is a new/upgraded Quest console going to be released to the public anytime soon? I've managed to get Headset streaming working on a 1st Gen Chromecast, could just be from an update between this video upload and December the same year (2019)
PLEASE HELP - I've lost smooth tracking on my left controller, I have no idea what to do, I've tried switching the batteries, repairing the controller and cleaning the cameras on the headset. If anyone has any idea how to fix this please help.
Sorry to hear about that. Only one time that happened to me and It was just one of the controllers needed a new batterie. Since you already tried that you could try factory reset and if that doesn’t work, it might be a hardware issue.

TLDR: The controller hardware is the problem @@HotshotTek Update: Used my (broken) controller on my buddies oculus and it had the same problem, so if anyone is having the same problem it's not the headset, it is the controller that has the malfunction. I'm going to send in a ticket through oculus to try and get a new controller but will probably have to pick one up myself. This all started when i switched batteries, so beware? Hopefully, this problem isn't consistent for a lot of people. Have fun!
@@Crunchy897 I had a problem where one of my controllers would randomly freeze in midair and become unusable. Either it was the headset or it was caused due to the latest update that came out a couple weeks ago. Had to have Oculus exchange my entire set-up.

Can you use Gen 1 Chromecast for casting? Some places say yes and some say no. I want to know for when I'm able to get a Quest.
For the remotes I bought Energizer Lithium AA non- rechargeable batteries on day one and they're still at 100% 5 weeks later.

2nd gen Chromecast doesn't work either
I second this. Had both gen 1 and 2 in house when I got my Quest and it only works on gen 3.
But you can cast to your phone, then cast your phone to Chromecast. I tried it, it works, even though it's laggy.

Sorry to hear about that. Only one time that happened to me and It was just one of the controllers needed a new batterie. Since you already tried that you could try factory reset and if that doesn’t work, it might be a hardware issue.
@@HotshotTek I have a buddy who will let me pair his left controller to mine to test it out - if the problem persists then i'll know if it's hardware or software. Fingers crossed

@@HotshotTek Update: Used my (broken) controller on my buddies oculus and it had the same problem, so if anyone is having the same problem it's not the headset, it is the controller that has the malfunction. I'm going to send in a ticket through oculus to try and get a new controller but will probably have to pick one up myself. This all started when i switched batteries, so beware? Hopefully, this problem isn't consistent for a lot of people. Have fun!
@@Crunchy897 I had a problem where one of my controllers would randomly freeze in midair and become unusable. Either it was the headset or it was caused due to the latest update that came out a couple weeks ago. Had to have Oculus exchange my entire set-up.

@@Soma_777 no you dont. for sideloading any usb c cable works. my samsung s9 charger works. oculus link is only for playing pcvr titles
The controllers use AA batteries, not AAA. When he said AAA, I freaked out because I got my rechargeables yesterday.
