Check out Opera GX Here: mtchm.de/fvz3a :D It's also nice to mention that the resolution mod can also work the other way and increase Performance with the CPU & GPU Level if you bring it down for a game where you might need that :) I also forgot to say, leave your favorite features or something you might want the new people to know down here :) I'm sure you guys know something I don't, there are so many!
Regarding the Bluetooth headphones, if you have a pair that NEEDS an app to connect through and you can't connect them without the app at all, you might not be able to use it despite downloading the APK. I got a pair of B&o Beoplay E8 which I sideloaded the apk for, but even though they connected in the app and Bluetooth like normally, no audio came through. Although it could be me who just can't find a dedicated "audio source chooser" setting anywhere
Also, if you want to lay down and watch or play something(until Meta makes windows moveable anywhere on the quest itself), you can freely move windows with your screen around using airlink so you can lay down and watch anything with the screen above you. The PC version of the Oculus interface/hub has had completely freely moveable windows for years. I remember back in the day with my CV1 Rift I got my roommate to play World of Warcraft laying down in my bed with the keyboard and mouse on his side and the window straight above him. His reaction was priceless
You may have produced the most useful VR list of the year. I can't properly express what a blessing you are to the budding virtualnautical community. Even if you are half my age I want to be like you when I grow up. Thank you for this.
I am really happy that you enjoyed it. Hopefully it can help many people out with some features they didn't know about and use their devices to their fullest.
Did I read that right? "Even if you are half my age I want to be like you when I grow up. " I wonder if this is an older or younger person. The context would really help in this situation. Take care ya'll.
It's really great that they keep adding more features and are perfectly OK with all the SideQuest stuff. I've had a Vive for years and everything was always so official and static. All this open source stuff is great and it's really what VR needed to get more people into it...
A really cool trick to get a better connection when using airlink, is to turn on hotspot on your pc and connect the oculus wifi through that. I've been playing half life alyx that way and the experience is incredible.
Thanks Mysticle, I'm too busy working in Unreal Engine to keep up with all the news without channels like this to consolidate it! A true service, thank you!
Honestly, after loving my quest 2 since it came out I need more advanced hardware. The next machines absolutely need to have a significantly higher fov. It's so essential to the immersion.
@@trackab7916 No, it's more like 180-200 degrees using both eyes. The Quest 2 is about 90. That's why it's like looking through a tunnel when you can see both sides. Hopefully they can manage at least 120 on the next lot🙏
Man you’d be surprised how much of what we think of as “obviously everyone knows about this” people don’t actually know about. My friend with a quest for like 4 months now, had no idea you can do hand tracking.
I very much respect your choice of maybe not having to upload ALL the time! I would hate to see you burn yourself out trying to upload daily/multiple times a day to the point of insanity. I was actually a bit scared of changing the gpu power level in sidequest but imma give it a go now :D
The Quest 2 charger is 5V/2A. Many budget battery banks tend to be 5V/1A output, while QC 3.0 is 4x the output of 5V/1A. So any battery with an output of 5V/2A or greater should work fine.
I bought a Quest 2. Your hints & tricks videos help me a lot. I don´t play any 2D games anymore. VR has gotten much further than expected. My mind is blown and already addicted to sketching in 3D or slaying zombies like never before. love it! Thx for the videos!
You're exclusively in VR now? What games do you recommend? Half Life is like one of the only AAA games for VR. All the rest feel like mini games or early access. Hardly anything with some real polish.
@@muhammadujaama631 Alyx truly crushes all other games. don´t forget to play community mod campaigns in Alyx like C17YSCAPE or Return to Rapture (2nd part coming very soon). Other than that I recommend The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners, Medal of Honor, Boneworks, Subnautica, or even just some Walkabout Minigolf with friends. Of course no game comes close to Alyx sadly. But imo even a crappy looking Population One is more fun than the 989078th CoD on Flatscreen.
I'm so happy you are taking breaks for your own Self-Care. Demanding schedules cause stress and stress is corrosive. So rest up dude, have a wonderful Christmas and we will see you on the flip side!
For those thinking about it: With a wifi 6 router you don't need to get the official airlink cable, it works so smoothly, I cant see a difference between airlink and the cable link.
I run mine with a wifi 5 router and am like 30 feet from it on another floor of my house. The only thing that makes my performance worse is if I unplug my ethernet from my pc.
WiFi 6 (with MIMO) routers are great, but if you only have WiFi 5 then it may be a little too congested. I had this problem and my main router just cannot handle it at all, it glitches out every 3-5 seconds and is totally unusable But, I had an old WiFi 5 router that I got free from my internet provider a few years back which is now my dedicated Quest access point. (TP Link vr1600v, people are selling these new here for like $60 and second hand down to $20-30) My PC uses WiFi to connect to the main house router for internet (not practical to run a cable) Then I plugged a 2ft long ethernet cable from my PC into this extra router and placed it on top of my PC, only enabling the 5GHz network. From my PC's perspective I now have 2 network connections, one with internet and one without. When I connect my Quest to this new dedicated access point it complains about having no internet access, but then I either AirLink or Virtual Desktop to my PC and any apps that run ON the PC have full internet access. It's a weird setup but works great for SteamVR, and I have no issues playing HL:Alyx or VRChat which are my two main games lately
Even easier if you have a newer wireless adapter for your pc you do not need a second dedicated router. So I have my pc getting internet wireless from older asus ac1750 router then I connect my quest 2 to pc through its hotspot! It has been super solid! If you're worried can't make wired connections work. Try this before buying anything else
I have never found a power-bank that has been able to 'charge' my Quest mid-play. Regardless, it reduces the drain of the battery so significantly, that with a 10,000Mah battery, I can extend the life of my Quest from its 2-3 hours to around 8+, even with the draining of the Quest's battery itself. It's still worth it to get a head strap with a battery pack regardless if it charges or not, because being wireless is part of what makes the Quest 2 so handy.
It's relatively power hungry, so you want a decent power bank. I have an old 20 amp Anker that has 2 usb ports, one supports Quick Charge (the Qualcomm standard) while the other dosen't: the one without can't keep up the charge for the Quest 2... or the Oculus Go. The other? Meh, the Quest can be drained and it will still charge it while in use. However nowadays USB C is a thing, so if buying a power bank just get one that supports Power Delivery. There's one thing about the Quest that is probably confusing, if you're using it it won't charge fully! Very much a software choice they made likely to extend the life of the battery, but it will stop around 75% and it's not a matter of power as it might be idle on the main menu or in a game and it will just sit there.
If I used an external battery I sure wouldn't put it on my headset, the added weight would drive me crazy. I would get a 4 ft cable and put the external battery in a fanny pack or something similar...
@@Bob_Suruncle I have a fat head for my 100000 IQ brain, so the additional weight on the back helps balance things out. The front headset can sometimes be a bit weighty and pull down my nose, so having a power bank that acts as a counter-weight is important to me. It's all preference. But if your after-market headstrap can properly hold everything together, then using a 4ft cable for your power bank and keeping it in a pocket works too. Just be mindful not to get your hands or arms caught in it.
Thank you, im getting a quest 2 for x-mas and ive been watching all your videos to gather info for when i first start playing. Thank you for your help!
I just purchased the quest 2 yesterday, I didn’t realize how easy it was for time to pass. I put the headset on at 6 PM and took it back off at 2AM. Blade and sorcery is super fun, VR chat is a place 😅. I plugged my usb-c battery pack in and still had 50% battery on the headset after 8h. Using a void pro headset and Steam it was an awesome time! Can’t wait to try the link cable and side quest now!
This video is extremely helpful. I got the Oculus yesterday as a Christmas gift and having been tweaking. However, the resolution doesn't increase. Am I doing something wrong?
on the powerbank thing: if your powerbank fully charges your quest, your quest will stop charging, and your powerbank will turn off. by the time you notice, your power could have dropped significantly, but all you need to do it either re-plug the powerbank, or press the charging button on it to wake up the battery pack and restart charging.

I wonder if you can answer a question for me? I purchased a 4k movie on youtube, when I watch it on my Occulus 2, in the youtube ap, the max resolution in the settings is 480. Do you have any idea why 480p is the highest quality available? I tried making changes through sidequest (video capture size set to 1080), but it still shows 480p in the headset.
If i get the Quest 2 and the link cable, will the link cable actually power the headset or is the battery life gonna get sucked out of it and play time is limited? I would use the Quest 2 headset for Sim racing on PC so the standalone wireless headset features would be secondary to me.

Thanks for the info!
How were you playing flatgames in Oculus Home at 3:30?
I wonder if you can answer a question for me? I purchased a 4k movie on youtube, when I watch it on my Occulus 2, in the youtube ap, the max resolution in the settings is 480. Do you have any idea why 480p is the highest quality available? I tried making changes through sidequest (video capture size set to 1080), but it still shows 480p in the headset.
If i get the Quest 2 and the link cable, will the link cable actually power the headset or is the battery life gonna get sucked out of it and play time is limited?
I would use the Quest 2 headset for Sim racing on PC so the standalone wireless headset features would be secondary to me.
i was thinking about what settings in side quest are now relevant and that will make a difference now at the end of 2021
At 3:19 how were you playing a game from the headset?
I thought changing to a higher resolution resulted in weird visual abnormalities. Has that changed in an update or something?
Absolutely take care of yourself man. We for sure can wait a little longer between videos if it means you can do good by you
