    One of my early successful farm communities, was the 2nd harvest, It was BOUNTIFUL and I went 3rd person to watch them bring the sacks to the windmill. I was super happy everything was going great. Then as they were loading sack after sack into the hatch the windmill burst into flames.

    Just had a look online. Someone did a test and they came out with twice the amount of bread from the same amount of flour with a family using a bakery vs 3 families at the communal oven

    • @TheOnlyL0nzY
      @TheOnlyL0nzY  21 день тому +1

      ahh gotcha! I haven't used it myself, just read the description. Honestly, the communal oven is good enough to give you stupid amounts of bread later. Good to know though, thank you!

    The plow does a very inefficient job of moving from the edges of the field to the middle, which is very time consuming. I have learned that a farm with full occupancy can cover nine one-morgen fields well in time. This is often not possible with the plow because it gets in the way of the workers (they go home and come back for sowing when the field has been plowed). In addition, the ox also helps transport the wheat to the farm and if this is not completely done by September then it really becomes a problem because it chases those workers who are already digging from the field.

      Only issue will be spare families early on. I have no issues with ox ploughing personally

      @TheOnlyL0nzY Ox is slow at ploughing compared to 8 Familys.
      I did a test for this, it was on a 3 Morgen patch, the ox ploughed it in 4.03mins and the 8 Familys ploughed in 1.05mins.
      Its only slower if the farm is more than 1.25 Morgen. But then again you can get the ox to work on a smaller farm and plough while the 8 Familys ploughed the larger farm.

    Thank you for this guide! Quick question.. I know that I only use 1 farmhouse for 1 field when the others are fallow, is the purpose of having another farmhouse for another field that would be active so that it can have its own oxen to plough? Otherwise I could just put 4 people in 1 farmhouse, rather than 2 in each farmhouse? (I hope my question makes sense haha)

    • @TheOnlyL0nzY
      @TheOnlyL0nzY  20 днів тому +1

      Yes, 1 farmhouse per 1 active field

      @jakec323 mainly yes. You will need to consider more farmers working if you make the fields bigger as threshing and harvesting takes time too

    i don't think limiting the work area works for farms? unless they fixed it recently

    What is the logic behind having three farm houses?
    Is it necessary to have one farmhouse per field, or is it just so you can have three oxen for ploughing?

    • @TheOnlyL0nzY
      @TheOnlyL0nzY  20 днів тому

      Yea, the 3 farm houses are if you want to scale. 1 farm house per 3 plots

    • @richl4112
      @richl4112 20 днів тому

      Plowed in the first September, sowed wheat. 1 family was fine for 3 morgen total. Grew that. I grew the wheat. Waited from crop to grow 100% then forced early harvest. 3 families harvested it easy in time. Ploughed for the next year

    • @richl4112
      @richl4112 20 днів тому

      Side note. Make sure your storehouse doesnt accept wheat or grain or flour. That way it goes straight to the waiting next door windmill and then straight next door to the ovens

    • @TheOnlyL0nzY
      @TheOnlyL0nzY  21 день тому

      That would be if you rotate all 3 together. Just need the 1 farmhouse as only 1 field in rotation each year. The other farmhouses are for later "larger" scale farming :) Hope that makes sense

    No reason to fallow a field in the first year.
    Farm all fields manually in the first year then start your crop rotation after that.
    Farming a field twice is fine.
