Thanks a lot. Been a while since I saw this movie, basically forgot about it. Had to stop your video and rewatch 'Life'. Yeah, the ending was really creepy, both sides. Not just Calvin getting to Earth, Miranda going into deep space. You are right, the "scientists" sure do some dumb things. 'Life' is still worth a watch.
Was gonna post this, The Blob might be a dumb giant Bacteria. But its invincible, impervious to heat and weaponry. As long as calvin doesnt go North the Blob would easily fend him off.
With the Predator it would need prior knowledge to be able to defeat Calvin. Kind of like the give Batman time to plan thing. Maybe the blue acid they use to destroy evidence can be made into projectiles
Brother Calvin is the reason why I'm scared of snails, slugs, worms, and even caterpillars now😭 I used to play with these animals when I was a kid I loved them but after I watched Calvin I freaking gated them, I even get chicken skin in the back of my neck everytime I think about them😂
I was literally thinking the only thing that could be calving is the Xenomorph. He can't absorb, infect or break open a Xenomorph without getting melted.
I have been saying this since I saw the movie back when it came out. I own it on Blu-ray and I've seen it at least three or four times now, I'm so glad you are giving this alien creature Calvin it's due recognition. Calvin is a fucking menace, everyone loves to glaze aliens or predators but Calvin really is the true ultimate preditory organism.
What's crazy is Calvin wasn't even hostile at first either just curious if they didn't attack him he might've been chill asf.Another is I think Calvin is intelligent enough not to kill the entire earth or else he'd have to go back into hibernation which is why he wasn't hostile till attacked. He may have killed every human on earth but let everything else survive so he could too.
part of the reason why the xenomorph is the perfect organism because they can control their metabolism and grow rapidly without food. from what i remember calvin still needs sustenance to grow.
I think the Yuatja were sold short, they're extremely advanced technologically. Each one carries a self-destruct device when they go out on a hunt, that seems capable of completly obliterating any trace of biological life around them. They are also a space-faring species so Calvin can be stopped by this species. They just destroy him from orbit if he's too big of a threat to face as they traditionally would. Just blast him from space with plasma weaponry. If they encounter him when he's small their shoulder-mounted plasma cannons have a high chance of obliterating him, those are magnitudes hotter than what Calvin was exposed to with the flamethrower. I think the Blob could also be an effective counter to Calvin, given it dissolves and absorbs any biomass to make more of itself. Its only weakness seems to be the Cold though, maybe fire as it did plug up that one flamethrower quickly and Calvin being smart as he is could maybe exploit that. But that also depends on the Blob's size and honestly we wouldn't want either of these monsters getting bigger. (Kinda cheating with the Blob as it is originally from Earth, but the older one was fully alien so it seemed appropriate.) In general though, Calvin can take on a lot of alien horror monsters. They're intended to terrify and hunt humans, rarely each other.
0:48 for me its the aliens in Parasyte, just imagine a random in the street or the closest person to you give a deadpan stare, morph into something akin to the Thing and straight up dice you up or eat you in some other fucked up way. or constantly having to be weary of everyone cuz at any moment you could be done in
xenomorfs grow fast when they are in danger, slow when they are not. facehuger in other movies has planty of time till dinner scene on nostromo to burst, same in alien 4, in romulus facehugger is in danger, xenomorf knows he is in danger so it bursts and grows fast.
Really enjoyed this filmed, really wanted to see what happened after that ending. Also only recently found your channel and good work lad very entertaining.
Great reminder of a really great film. Calvin was scary AS FUCK!! There were no Alien movies for a while so i did think to myself this movoe belonged in the Alien universe.
The Thing is basically the same type of organism as Calvin but it can also absorb another organism’s DNA. Basically adopting the traits it needs to survive while Calvin has all the traits it would ever need to survive most environments.
I would absolutely love to see a sequel of Calvin on Earth taking over as the dominant species. I don't even care if he does end up turning into a peaceful creature near the end but it has to have him absolutely demolishing things for most of it.

Just saw this movie within the last few months. It has been on various watchlists for years. I have no reasons for the wait but WTF !?!?!?! I love this movie with it's doomed ending! So underrated.
I'm only 1 minute into the vid but Calvin was said to have cells that are simultaneously always all eyes, muscles and brain matter... that's "all seeing, all powerful and all knowing". Calvin is (a) God.
Calvin is like the Water bear, It can literally survive anywhere, even in places without oxygen.
The Thing is my go to for times like tonight when I'm getting snowed in. The Thing for the win.
You know what .. *Life (2018)* could be the perfect prequel to *Cloverfield (2008)* !! .. you did say that it's unknown what Calvin grew into! ... and the Clover monster was pretty much *indestructable* !
Love your theories and way of remaking ending on movies
I love how crazy excited you get about movies. So fun to watch.
1:57 Don't tell him about the flood
Thanks a lot. Been a while since I saw this movie, basically forgot about it. Had to stop your video and rewatch 'Life'.
Yeah, the ending was really creepy, both sides. Not just Calvin getting to Earth, Miranda going into deep space. You are right, the "scientists" sure do some dumb things.
'Life' is still worth a watch.
The Blob watching this video chuckling, eating random people out of a giant popcorn bag.
Was gonna post this, The Blob might be a dumb giant Bacteria. But its invincible, impervious to heat and weaponry. As long as calvin doesnt go North the Blob would easily fend him off.
Love your content and analysis. Happy new year 🎉
Damn I forgot about Cal… Dude is a menace for sure💯
There's no such thing as a creature with no weakness. There's always some limit.
I swear this guy has the best videos and reviews
With the Predator it would need prior knowledge to be able to defeat Calvin. Kind of like the give Batman time to plan thing. Maybe the blue acid they use to destroy evidence can be made into projectiles
good point on the blue acid cleanser
Crazy timing, I just watched this movie a couple days before you released this video. Great analysis.
Your commentary is damn great. I laughed a lot and really vibed on your delivery! “If you wait too long… you’re f#%!ed!” 💀
You just earned a new sub!
To be fair the guy who was very intrigued with Calvin wanted to research him to cure his condition
I was high key very ok with Ryan Reynolds character getting murked early on. He gets on my nerves in everything he’s in lol
the Thing doesn't reanimate, it assimilates living cells, that's why it just ignores long dead corpses
It's kinda like The Mist. The way it ended.
The mist 2007 need a true sequel 🦑🐙❤️💗🙏🏾
What's crazy is Calvin wasn't even hostile at first either just curious if they didn't attack him he might've been chill asf.Another is I think Calvin is intelligent enough not to kill the entire earth or else he'd have to go back into hibernation which is why he wasn't hostile till attacked. He may have killed every human on earth but let everything else survive so he could too.
“Cocaine.. is a helluva drug” -Rick James
Life and Shin Godzilla are movies that need an epic apocalyptic sequels.
*_Calvin >>> Deadpool, Mysterio and Lady Jessica!_*
part of the reason why the xenomorph is the perfect organism because they can control their metabolism and grow rapidly without food. from what i remember calvin still needs sustenance to grow.
“I u s e c o c a i n e”
Dead af😂😂
Love the way you make vids man
Just experienced your video regarding district 10 and now this. I am now a subscriber for sure. Thank you for these breakdowns. All my favorites
Just thinking about that shot of Calvin and Jake in the pod on Earth gives me chills. Great film!
It should have led into Venom
(Kinda cheating with the Blob as it is originally from Earth, but the older one was fully alien so it seemed appropriate.)
In general though, Calvin can take on a lot of alien horror monsters. They're intended to terrify and hunt humans, rarely each other.
lol for real. This is one of the scariest horror sci-fi movie monsters
Honestly this entity needs to be treated like the flood in halo. It needs biomass and the more it gets, the more powerful it will be
Excellent take my friend!
12:21 my name’s Doctor Rockso, the rock n roll clown! And I do cocaine!!!
Calvin was scary until they gave it a ‘face’.
Wait, how did the brunette with the knife enter your consciousness? Was it a movie? Or real life? Or imagination?
@@kevthepoet interesting question
@@Cinemavigilante boring answer
0:48 for me its the aliens in Parasyte, just imagine a random in the street or the closest person to you give a deadpan stare, morph into something akin to the Thing and straight up dice you up or eat you in some other fucked up way. or constantly having to be weary of everyone cuz at any moment you could be done in
Or the alien from Species. You finally get laid only to get prayin mantis'd
xenomorfs grow fast when they are in danger, slow when they are not. facehuger in other movies has planty of time till dinner scene on nostromo to burst, same in alien 4, in romulus facehugger is in danger, xenomorf knows he is in danger so it bursts and grows fast.
Really enjoyed this filmed, really wanted to see what happened after that ending. Also only recently found your channel and good work lad very entertaining.
Life 2 - Calving absorbs earth and the rest of the solar system
Recently watched that movie. Pretty good and Calvin is a pretty underrated character
It’s extremely underrated. I loved this movie.
Plot twist: it’s only been protecting itself against an unknown species that woke it up with a shock. Been in self defense mode all along 🤷🏾♂️
I imagine Calvin takes over the world and he becomes something like a Brother Moon from the Dead Space universe.
Man they really tripping for not making a sequel.. They left us with a real cliffhanger
the Blob would just digest Calvin like a midnight snack
The Flood (maybe), Necromorph, The Thing and The Blob. Only organisms I can see overcoming Calvin
Winston: Under the circumstances your privileges are reinstated immediately, what do you need?
John Wick: Bacterias, lots and lots of bacterias.
Love your vids , can u do a video about aliens from the tomorrow war?
The thing is the GOAT
The blob and the Mimics from Edge of tomorrow. I think would defeat Calvin.
Thanks for this vid about the OG Calvin
Saw this film years ago. An underrated sci-fi film.
yeah . . . . part 2 is needed
i love this movie. sucha accurate extraterrestrial horror.
So if the Thing gets Calvin, it's GG!
Life is underrated..absolutely enjoyed that movie
🤔💭 what if Calvin is the Cloverfield Monster after its earthly evolution 😏
I love that the title was "Life" but the film was ultimately about death.
Calvin was made he's a bio weapon bro but it was under rated movie
Total sup your channl your a good crack and I deffo agree with a lot of your movie analysis (and was Super 8 connected to Cloverfield
I personally want to thank cocaine for your channel.
I would absolutely love to see a sequel of Calvin on Earth taking over as the dominant species. I don't even care if he does end up turning into a peaceful creature near the end but it has to have him absolutely demolishing things for most of it.
