Hey Steve, the tool is called cobbler tubular nailer, my Dad had one in his shoes making shop, I used it to put nails in his work bench as a kid, yes after 45 years, my butt still hurt...lol
I could watch videos of you strictly working on Alden Indys. I’m obsessed with these boots, i own 2 pair. This particular repair is INSANE! Wow, the finished boot is probably the slickest pair of boots I’ve ever seen. I love your work.
This is where the true talent and skill of a craftsman come to the fore, being able to overcome not having standard fit items and to make them look like they are off the shelf. Some beautiful boots that have been taken all the way to 11.
Steve was miraculously able to change a Nick’s Falcon boot from a 10.5 to a 10 for me. He sewed a piece of leather into the heel. He mirrored the existing stitching on the boot, so the change is unnoticeable visually. I went from a boot that was always slipping in the heel to one that fits perfectly. I wear them all the time now. He is a magician.
Wow, the work that went into these boots, we saw a little of one boot that has to be repeated for the other. They came out Flawlessly beautiful. What amazing talent. 👍🏻
Omg this is another great project,👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🥇🥇😃😃thx for your time and vlog.me and the wife wanted too say great kids you have Steve .👍🏻👍🏻❤️❤️stay safe y’all, the costumer priceless 🤣🤣
You look so much better than initial videos. Your hands don’t shake like they used to, you’re groomed, you’re happier, you’re more put together. It’s so awesome to see you’re doing well! I love your work and I’m overjoyed that your life is going so well!
They sure turned out great 👍 I really enjoy these longer videos Steve. 🙂 I’m always excited to watch everything you upload. Always a treat to watch you work.
Those beautiful Alden Indy boots turned out absolutely SPECTACULAR!!!!! I love the blue, it’s my favorite color and shade - cobalt!!! Such a craftsman, they look BETTER THAN BRAND NEW!!!!
Steve, you are the culprit behind the purchase of many shoes due to your videos. Purchased the indy boot, Alden shoes (7 pairs) and many of AE shoes (over 11). I have been a viewer of many of your videos and I can tell you, you are literally a one man show. Better than anything on television now a days, excluding old shows from the 50's & 60's of course. None the less, when my shoes are ready for surgery, I will send them to Dr. Steve. Master at hand. Take care Brother.
of all the cobblers you've got the best sole removal technique. you go one side at a time rather than trying to pull the whole thing off at once. your way takes way less time. kudos on your channel brother.
I love all your videos Steve, but this one definitely now has a top spot on my "favorites" list. What a complete re-do! This customer truly loves these boots--he had you pull out all the stops to restore them to better than new. And although I would have preferred red laces and sole detail (red being my favorite color and all), I think the blue looks great. Excited to see your next videos, especially the ones featuring the contest winners!
Those are some beautiful boots. An amazing transformation. They weren't bad before you started but gorgeous afterwards. May have to look for a pair of those boots next.
This is my fave kinda upgrade, subtle and very classy looking. In the carpentry trade, mostly for remodeling, there is a very similar slide hammer type of nailer called “The Pea Shooter” , for driving nails into hard to get into places; like when floor or ceiling joists are 12” on center, and the callout might be 4-5 evenly spaced vertical nails every 10” . Calif. likes lots of nails, but after the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, we could observe how very little if any damage occurred where all the hardware and nailing was used,. Yeah, that’s right - “Pea Shooter” !
Loved your first aid to your finger it made me chuckle, dirty old rag and tape, but an absolutely amazing job thumbs up Steve very best wishes from Reading England 🏴 xx
I live in a remote place to avoid stuff like this. Glad you are back to what I love - your sure-footed craftsmanship and creativity. Better than watching paint dry :)
Outstanding. Those are some good looking boots. You are a master craftsman. I do wish you had talked about the process involved in increasing the width of one of the boots.
AMAZING!! This is one of the best videos I have seen from this channel, so many good ones too but loved the outcome..thanks again brother you’re amazing!
Those boots look amazing. What A lot of work. Virtually rebuilt from scratch. Love watching you work. Expertise. Beautiful pair of boots. Love the blue stitching.
Listening to you feathering that sewing machine pedal brings back some bad memories. So glad I went to a servo motor instead of keeping with the clutch motor. Love the transition of the Indy's, they look awesome.
Uhh that is a werry pritty makeover, great job. 😀 🌹 🥰 Keep up making great videos 👍 😊 🌹 Be safe and take care. Big hugs from stine, from Denmark 🇩🇰 🌹 🌺 🥰 💝 🌺
Years ago I worked for Brown & Root Corporation at an Industrial Plant and we used a tool similar and called it a "pea shooter". Essentially for the same purpose, to place nails inside the tube for hard to reach areas, then would slide the inside tube back and forth until the nail was driven. Regardless, the name provided by others in your line of work seems right on par. Thx for sharing your videos, love watching you work and the final product. Those are a lovely pair of boots. I've always loved Alden's ;)
My pair of Indy boots are also a favorite, but I may have to send them to you in the future. It is sad to see Alden cut corners but you did it better than new
The Man is not only a cobbler, But a plastic surgeon as well. WOW Steve.
I know, man. He goes way beyond repair, far into transformation. I love seeing the original products evolve.
A leather surgeon.
Hey Steve, the tool is called cobbler tubular nailer, my Dad had one in his shoes making shop, I used it to put nails in his work bench as a kid, yes after 45 years, my butt still hurt...lol
Yes that’s it, I keep forgetting the name
Great job. I appreciated your explanation about the difference between 270 and 360 degree welts. Thanks

Omg, when I saw your bandaid...I'm a sewer and that's exactly what I do
I would not have picked any of those options. I like my Indys stock. But damned if they aren't absolutely beautiful!!!
This is where the true talent and skill of a craftsman come to the fore, being able to overcome not having standard fit items and to make them look like they are off the shelf.

You literally put your blood sweat and tears I to your work... 😂

of all the cobblers you've got the best sole removal technique. you go one side at a time rather than trying to pull the whole thing off at once. your way takes way less time. kudos on your channel brother.
LOL so funny, laughed so hard when your customer came in.

Ooooo I like the simplicity of the inner shoe hammer tool 👍💖 always wondered how those got placed👍👍
Does anyone else re-watch his content just to scope ojt his watch collection? > just me, okay. His watch game is KILLIN IT.
"Ball Nailer" was my band in high school
Those boots were nice from the beginning, but now WOW !! //Lars
You (your videos) have convinced me to try these boots, and I now have two pairs. Best money I have spent in many years.
I love all your videos Steve, but this one definitely now has a top spot on my "favorites" list. What a complete re-do! Very nicely done. The blue matched perfectly with the brown and the leather layers of the sole look great.

Those were very smart Alden Indy semi-dress boots. Wonderful craftsmanship. Congratulations on their make-over.
Great to see the pride in your face. One can see you enjoy your craft.
The cuts you make with that utility knife are bang on.
I just realized how huge those boots are at the end of the video when you hold it in your hand. Amazing job as always.
CLASSIC!!! Thx for sharing with us.

Awesome, better than new! The quality of the job worths the price.
Great skills. When you mentioned "icing on the cake" I was thinking, more like the fancy piping that they trim the cake with. A work of art.
Nice customer, matching shirts.
