It's always nice to hear about first impressions, but in my experience, and as someone who feels they make not so great first impressions, I think there are things that require further saturation in the environment to gain a more accurate understanding. How about a deep dive and some delving beyond the surface level impressions? I also had some reservations, and never really like going to bars or drinking, but after some time I could gain better perspective and appreciate the area as a place good for living on the outskirts of the tourism sector. Though it was during the pandemic so I had a different experience. And I don't think I'd enjoy it with the return of the crowds, however I can appreciate the atmosphere as being welcoming to people of all walks of life and have cold feet in regards to associating w
I somewhat agree with you. A first impression isn't a true reflection of a place. But then again, a first impression is exactly what it says. I think if I was here longer, then I would start to feel the place more.
Yes, it's also true to go with our initial instinctual reaction and the landscape of the city and what one witnesses upon arrival can be quite informational. But it's quite a large place and many people from around TH go there for working giving it a more open feeling. Another pro of the place is allowing for a more casual appearance, whereas other places one would do their best to appear decent.
Ah, you literally walked past my neck of the woods. Boyztown, lol. I really hope you enjoy pattaya for something a bit different, i know it's not your norm. Catch you later, mate.
Exactly the reason why there are so many covertly filmed videos on YT! There are a lot of people in Pattaya that really don't want exposure for various reasons. Many on the run and a shed load of Russian conscription dodgers. I hope you are going to go to Koh Chiang at some point, it;s too good to miss whilst you are in that neck of the woods!

It’s kinda cool you sounded such a fish out of water in monger-land mate 👍😎 I’d avoided it for about 20-odd years until spent some time there visiting family nearby in 2022 and I also found the beach ok now they have done lots of work to it, but still wouldn’t swim in the water I don’t think.
Good to see the place though for a few days. 😂
I'm no saint , but it feels a lot different yes mate. I'm glad I've come down here and seen it. It's not somewhere I could stay but I'm enjoying the few days. Cheers Simo.
WOW looks Pattaya Thailand looks very different then when I was there back in 1973
I would say yes, it's alot different from 73 🤣
I was there in 71 ,still the same things going on
Good, informative Walk-About Wayne. With all the miserable old grumps mumbling about looking down at their feet, "F-0" was probably the best advice.
It felt like I was back home in a nightclub again. I've not been told to F off for a few years haha
@@WalkAboutWayneIndeed, I meant best to F-0 to somewhere away from that miserable lot.
My wife won't let me go to Pattaya.
Even though it was only for a Christian Stamp Collectors of Thailand meetup weekend.
Is that the new term for jolly boys outing
Back in the day when a much smaller place & girls knew everybody's business , expats with wives or girlfriends would arrange to meet friends at The Belgium Embassy .Needless to say there were no Consular Staff nor Embassy
🤣🤣🤣
So 11 or 12 quid a night for that first hotel? That's amazing value. People bang on about how expensive Thailand is these days and its barely much different from back home, but where are you getting that hotel room for 12 quid in the UK?
For sure! Thailand is still super cheap
Why is every road so busy? Where are they all going during the day?
Just out and about I guess. So many people in the city.
Holiday Inn has a rooftop bar. Free entry, DJ and happy hour 2 for 1 beers. Great for sunset beers
Nice, cheers for the info.
Another great one bro. I hope you’re enjoying your escape from the smoke. I’m still a year or so away from my move to Hua Hin. Gonna buy a small villa with a pool there and once I’m set up, you won’t need a hotel in Hua Hin anymore. I’ll have plenty of room for a guest. Take it easy man, take it easy ™️
Cheers Dean ! I'm having a good time here. I'm hoping to get back to Hua Hin soon also.
Great. Thx
You're welcome!
wayne grab an iced coffee and go sit on the beach under a palm bout 3pm,london to a brick you'll get a cutie sidling up to ya with tempting offers, enjoy sin city
Nice 👍
You have to remember Wayne a lot of guys are only in Pattaya for the golf.
🤣🤣🤣 They don't want me to see there swing 🤣
@@WalkAboutWayne All trying to get their balls deep in the hole mate.
Yes the 19th hole
Take a day trip to Koh Larne, it's a lovely way to get away from the hustle and bustle of Pattaya...
Thanks for the tip!
What prompted the guy to tell you to f- off?
Same thing as always......Camera 👍
Trying to get there in December for a Month
Its not too far from Auckland, New Zealand.
Hopefully Currency rates are better.
Nice! December will soon come. Let's hope that currency keeps going up
@@WalkAboutWayne Casual Work shirts are expensive in NZ, when you next look through a market?
Im staying across the street from that 7 eleven where you ran into the westerner 😂 55555
Nice! I'm around that area too.
@@WalkAboutWayne Good thai food at the restaurant, located at the entrance of Maytara hotel.
Wow.
You are very good vlogging! Carry on.
Thank you 🙏
Yep Tree Town is a good choice with a nice mix of small food places. There are some really good restaurants up on the hill. Three Mermaids and Sky nearby to it are a two of the better ones: 678 Moo 12 Kasetsin 11 Alley Nong prue, Pattaya City, Bang Lamung District. LOL Pattaya is definitely not Chiang Mai!
I liked Tree Town, I chilled out there and got some food. 👍
How much cooler is Chiang Mai ?
We went to Thailand twice but were in BKK and Pattaya and it was way too hot for us. I guess we need to go again and head to CM.
Chiang Mai is roasting hot too. Down here the humidity is higher though.
further north you go, the hotter it is
It's actually hotter in chiang mai but its dry heat so much more comfortable
I found Chang Mai a lot cooler by night, but it was mid Dec. The town of Pai about two hours away from CM is definitely cooler again.
Whereabouts you from in the UK ?
Southwest Barry. Exeter area.
Pattaya... The bowels of Thailand
🤣
Pattaya is a s__t hole Wayne, bit different from Cm.
I don't understand. Unless you never leave the bars. Many families and expats love the area. Many non bar things to do.
It's a lot different, that's for sure. Ive got a few days here, so will enjoy it 👍
Have a bad ladyboy experience did we ? 555
I was there to meet a couple of friends a week ago .I lasted 2 nights & then had to bail out
Hopefully I can last a bit longer 👍
Weak
Wayne try to get to Century 21 and Space, worth a look, very clean, quite unique, Just got back to CM after a week in Pattaya, Don't forget your TM30 when you get back.
Nice one mate, maybe I'll have a look. I don't need TM30 mate, my address is a fixed address in Chiang Mai. Don't ever need to change TM30 👌
Well done, you're the 1st white guy to ever walk along beach road with a camera
Sweet 👌
Second.
Paul Collins, there has been many many white guys logging this road
Another pro of the place is allowing for a more casual appearance, whereas other places one would do their best to appear decent.
old guys don't want to be filmed seen with their young girls they're hiding from their family's back home.
Ah, you literally walked past my neck of the woods. Boyztown, lol. I really hope you enjoy pattaya for something a bit different, i know it's not your norm. Catch you later, mate.
I'm having a good time Richard, starting to get in the swing of things. Not somewhere I would live, but I'm enjoying it. 👍👍
@WalkAboutWayne good good.
Pattaya is cool ..sure it will grow on you
Yes, it's growing on me more mate. I been having a good time 👍
Exactly the reason why there are so many covertly filmed videos on YT!
There are a lot of people in Pattaya that really don't want exposure for various reasons. Many on the run and a shed load of Russian conscription dodgers.
I hope you are going to go to Koh Chiang at some point, it;s too good to miss whilst you are in that neck of the woods!
No plans for Koh Chang at this time buddy. Maybe in the future.
Wayne walking down Soi 6 in the evening, I would have loved to seen that 😮
Maybe mate 🤣
Wow. What do you call the opposite of a Bobby Dazzler? Thanks for showing me where to stay far away from, mate.
Give it a try mate 👍. I must admit , I'm having a good time.
Pattaya,,The most dangerous place on the planet.Avoid the people selling watches. They will hit you just to get a sale.Honestly I would get out of there.Theyre all nuts...
Really? I've not seen any danger or felt in any danger.
really, ive been many times, not dangerous at all
Welcome to Pattaya! 5555 - 2nd road fun!!!!
Thanks 👌👌
Get yourself over to the Darkside - a bit more normal over here. Plenty to explore and not tourist prices
@@WalkAboutWayne
Go to Jomtien mate… bit less mental and I think the Muay Thai championships are on at the moment on the beach!
Hoping to take a wonder around Jomtien 👍
I was thinking of heading that way but that voice in my head keeps saying "don't bother"....
Give it a try Dan. I must admit, I'm enjoying it. Not sure I could live here but great for a holiday.
@@WalkAboutWayne Yea, I'm going to definitely check it out.
Pattaya 🥱🥱🥱 No thank you. Be safe. Give me the J W Marriott in Khao Lak…beautiful pool and beautiful beach
Thanks mate
Hi Wayne get yourself back to Hua hin.
You looked happy there last time mate
Maybe one day mate. Yes, I had a good time in Hua Hin.
Mmmmmate, this is gonna funny!! am sooo looking forward to your vlog or two lol ive been shattaya 6/7 times now and it is a filth bucket, cant wait to see what happens when you go out, if you do get time make sure you go to LK Metro and Soi Buahkao, Soi chiapoon (pothole) (for the ladyboys), suppose you gotta hit walking street but i never go there, most of all Wayne, have fun!! and stay safe of course 👍
It's going to be a funny few days mate 🤣. Cheers man
This is a "Dude! Hold my beer!' video!
🤣🤣🤣
i like to see you see new thiland. ill be there in a few months. keep doing what you do man, dont let the trashy prople ruin your stay.
Thanks man 👍
They reckon Pattaya is like being a kid at a fair, but the rides are better. Have a blast mate.
Definitely the best fun fair I have been too 🤣. Cheers mate
I think you handle those mongers better than I would LOL
He wasn't no problem really. He trotted on his way. It takes a lot for me to get irate. Putting hands on the camera, now that's a whole new ball game.
Ewww, you hard😂😂
I heard from a man that use to stay at Pattaya, that new arrived men are called "2 weeks millioneers" and that the ladies check out how pale they are, no sunburn/tan= newbees...So they aim to skin them for as much money fast. This man said he could not tell me all that was going on there without blushing. The drinks even ladies bodyparts were spiked...oh dear..You are such a nice man Wayne..be careful! Even the ladyboys are to look out for!! Stay safe..go away!
Hahaha I'm sure I'll be fine mate.
you must listen to those who have never been
Pattaya is Thailands Blackpool with sunshine,Jomtien is much more chilled, bet your glad your not in CMai with all the crazy forest fires there.
I'm hoping to go to Jomtien for a look around. Yes, CM air looks bad at the minute.
Get the baht bus Wayne Jomtiem mate and Bangsaray It’s a little fishing village and nice and pratumnak is nice Wayne people vlog every day some nice parts of Pattaya Wayne but you like it quiet mate so bangsaray would be better for you. But I know when you retire your probably move to Hau hin
I will be doing a flying visit to Jomtien beach area mate.
Forget the bike..baht bus
Baht Bus is what I'm thinking 👍
Best part of visiting Pattaya?……. Leaving it.
HIV.
🤣
wow i bet you are a blast at parties
is starbucks there expensive?
I don't know about Pattaya, but everywhere else in Thailand it is.
Yes it is
A lot of haters of Pattaya here mate! It has changed a lot since most of them have been there.
Many families visiting now. No need to hang out in seedy areas!
Yes, I was surprised by the amount of families here on holiday. I've had a good few days so far.
why is it so cheap? relatively speaking
@@regnorse Thats easy! Same with any country where wages are low.
