    I've rather enjoyed seeing Trenton's hairstyle on any given day. 😊 Love how you two work so well together. We always enjoy watching and learning about new bottles and standard favorites. Maybe these videos could be called "SLB Spotlights" or if you make it a regular feature of the channel, "SLB Spotlights of the Week" or whatever frequency you end up choosing. Old Route 8 might be closer to $125 in some areas and proof varies by barrel. Mine's around 127.3 proof. Old Soul 2022 was bottled at 109 proof around $74. Wanting to try some Fiddler Toasted, have not been able to find it. Parker's Heritage/Heaven Hill products are great, just not my taste for the price. Thanks for the review, especially the Fiddler Toasted review.

    Cathead is in Jackson, Mississippi. We went to the King Biscuit Blues Festival in Helena, Arkansas and the bourbon they were pouring at the festival was the Old Soul High Rye which was very good. I am going to look for the cask strength and the single barrel.

    3:08 In experimenting with rye I've had two so far - Sagamore Spirit and Bulleit. And the Bulleit gave me notes that made me think of leaves from a kitchen garden, and roadside weeds. Both are very vegetal, but the Bulleit is emphatically so. I'd guess Trenton's getting the rye in the whisky.

    Store pick vs standard. Would be fun to see you guys dig into different store picks and compare them to the standard offerings and how those barrels can swing flavor wise. Could be a good discussion there per distillery or releases about flavor and value. This would be especially fun to watch you do in a blinds setting as an ongoing series :)

    Buy, try, or bust.
    Buy if it’s just a great bottle/price.
    Try if it’s a good bottle but the value/profile could be a little off for some and the redo is to have a pour first to make sure you like it.
    Bust if it’s a no go.

    I enjoy the videos but I think it makes sense to know where they are distilled or if they are being transparent or not. I don’t know how you reviewed 2 bottles from the same company and not know where it comes from?? Maybe I’m being overly critical but I just feel like I hear “I’m sorry but I don’t know” way too often.

    • @mickwhiskey7960
      @mickwhiskey7960 10 місяців тому

      I also think it's important to state whether a bottle was provided 'free of charge' from the distiller, or if you paid for it. I feel like a lot of channels/reviewers (Kurt?) are reluctant to be critical of a bottle that was provided to them, because it could cause that distiller to stop sending them 'free' bottles.

  • @teschvalleyrailroad

    The worst part of watching your videos is finding something that I think I would like, but can't get here in Michigan. Our state liquor commission is so behind the times in allowing many companies to ship here. I would love to try the Fiddler Toasted!

    • @ChristopherNeeme
      @ChristopherNeeme 10 місяців тому +1

      @@subspeciez That's what you need to do unfortunately is travel and acquire. When it comes to whiskey, I have to agree that Michigan is pretty limited, although they do have some decent distilleries there making their own stuff that doesn't get exported well, if at all. Michigan is better with carrying other spirits and liqueur, so my travel bags are always stuffed with those when I fly out of there. If you want any type of alcohol with a cherry aspect to it, there's a ton of that there with Michigan cherries being so prevalent.
