The XL would be nice but I got a deal on a minipeak. I use it with a plastic ground sheet and my two kids can sleep in it with me (no inner). I have had it out in some heavy rain. It was cheap and fairly light. Have to save weight and cost when I can. I wouldn’t use a zpacks duplex with them- too expensive and probably too fragile to survive them.

I'm confused because I'm not sure which of the two tents you slept in. You showed how much more room the 1.5p inner is on the XL, but it appears you actually slept in the smaller shelter with the 1p inner. Can you clarify which one you slept in? I think I want the XL with 1.5 inner, but not if it's as small as the one you slept in.

In this video I slept in the Minipeak 2, which is the smaller of the two with the 1 person inner.

Do you think two people would fit in the XL with the 1.5p inner if they needed to? I'm similar height to you

It can be done; though I wouldn’t unless it was an emergency. You would need ultra thin sleeping pads (or none) and sleep head to toe. The other person would have to be equal to or smaller. If two people are side sleepers it could be done. Elbow sleepers, forget about it. There would be no extra room except at the feet or head. So I can’t recommend it but you could put the two person summer inner from the Minipeak 2 in there. Be warned just because you can mix the inners they don’t always work the best and setup can be a pain.

5ft 8in. Side note: I have no issues with the XL when it comes to sleeping space.

why bother with these without the stove ports....? waste

Light weight, durable, very functional. I would not go without the stove jack on the XL though. The main reason I went without for the mini peak 2 is I needed a smaller lightweight tent for hiking in the summer. For that application there is no good reason to have the stove jack, it adds weight, and creates a place for possible leaks. Plus for me it just isn’t a big enough tent to justify a stove when the XL version is available.

@@ajrogers7420 makes sense thanks for the response I appreciate it. Can you get a stove port for the 2 person or does it only come with the 3p XL?

@@patrickhenry7416 No problem, thanks for commenting.
Both versions do have the stove jack option, which is typically the default option unless stock is out.
