    I've been looking for something to replace my ancient mini Mag, and I think this is going to be the one. It's a little spendy compared to a lot of edc lights I've looked into; but, I'm a sucker for titanium and the extra lumens might come in useful one night.

    Man here lately it seems like your reviews are so formal and you're forced to do it. Your videos a year ago were so much better but I still appreciate you doing them, it helps me make decisions alot.

      It's harder to relax and get into the grove these days, lots of personal things going on in my life which I try not to let affect my videos. I guess I'm not doing a great job, sorry.

    Hi Fred. I think your reviews are as good as ever. I am going to buy this little light, thanks for introducing it to us. Is it easy to actuate with one hand between thumb and index finger? Some of the twisty lights are easy but some have too much resistance. Do you know what I mean?

    • @GearObsession
      @GearObsession  9 років тому

      elbowroomtube I know exactly what you mean, thank you.

    • @DinnerForkTongue
      @DinnerForkTongue 9 років тому

      It's not the easiest twisty light in the world to one-hand, but if you get a good grip with thumb and index on the head while holding the body with the other three fingers tightly, you can operate it no problem.

    just ordered this on amazon, can't wait to get it. this will be my first high quality flashlight, let alone from thrunite, so i'm looking forward to it.
    chose this one over the Ti3 because of the titanium and more brightness

    I love my Ti 3, but it would be great if it had a mode around 50 - 60 lumens that ran an hour or so. :/ Because sometimes 12 is too low, and 120 is too bright. was hoping this model would have a fourth mode but oh well

    • @MrSimonj1970
      @MrSimonj1970 9 років тому

      Agree 100%! It makes no sense at all. I ended up getting a Lumintop Tool which just has a proper L/M/H with no moonlight or strobe, much better for my money. Always turns on in medium mode, too, which is enough light for most needs. The clicky switch is better for one handed operation on a hat, but worse for accidental pocket activation (although a half-twist of either end will prevent this). I like both lights a lot, but I probably prefer the Lumintop, not sure why they are so hard to find.

    • @mdog1678
      @mdog1678 9 років тому

      If it's the size that keeps it from having the three modes i wouldn't mind the ti 3 being a bit bigger. It's a great light, but for the size and price I guess we mke compromises

    • @DinnerForkTongue
      @DinnerForkTongue 9 років тому

      Like i always say, this one does enough for a keychain light - any more complications in the circuitry and down goes the efficiency.
      If you need more versatility than these latest Ti's already offer, you'd best grab a bigger torch. The Archers seem like they would suit your standards.

      UPDATE: I've just read Bigmac_79's Candlepowerforums review of the Ti3, and the black Ti3's output is understated! It's not your Ti light that's too weak, it's the aluminium one that's on steroids :D

    • @mdog1678
      @mdog1678 9 років тому

      Whats the actual output?

    Nice review! I've just bought two Christmas edition Ti's and maybe they've changed the model this year, but the specs are a little different from what you quote. Now it is called ThruNite Ti-Hi and outputs 120 lumens at high, according to their site.

    To anyone who owns the Ti Ti version: did the threads on the head of the flashlight start to strip at all after a few months' use? I had the Ti3 (aluminum) version fail in this manner so now I can't tighten the head back on after inserting a new battery. I assume that the titanium threads would be stronger than aluminum though...

    What a catch! Although I'm pretty positive that i wouldn't have the extra cash to comfortably buy this as a gift for my pre-teen brother until a year and a half from now, and then Thrunite is sure to have released even cooler stuff than this baby. I'll stick to the aluminium Ti3 for that purchase.

    Will you please tell me where i can get a few shirts like tve one you're wearing? I'm not even joking seriously. Awesome review! Loving how thrunite has tint options on every light I've seen so far. Other manufacturers should probably take notes. Shirt please?? Thanks

    Hi
    I am a bit confused you say the Ti is lighter but on
    ThruNite.com web site it says
    ThruNite Ti Weight: 16 gram without battery.
    ThruNite Ti3 Weight: 12 gram without battery.

    • @azy6868
      @azy6868 8 років тому

      +Colin Worley Yep, Titanium is heavier than aluminium but lighter than steel. I have the aluminium Ti3 and I also have the stainless steel version that is called the TiS.
      The 25 gram TiS is noticeably heavier than the 12 gram Ti3. But I don't think you'd notice the difference of 4 grams extra of the titanium version.
      The TiS is my EDC light and I am very happy with it. If I lose it; I'll get the titanium version.

    Nice review. I also love Thru lights, and want to get this, but (be honest) how easy is it to really use one handed? I see dozens of reviews of this light, but everyone uses it with two hands, and I need a one handed use light. Thanks if you still checking these comments. Subscribed!

    I have a hard time believing these put out 162 lumen as my Ti2 puts out just as much light at only 80 lumens. Side by side with new batteries of the same type there really is no difference. Needless to say I am a bit disappointed in my Ti 162.
    Another AWESOME review though Fred!!!

    • @DinnerForkTongue

      Human eye perception is a liar. But if you've put the two side-by-side and they're on equal terms, then your Ti is defective.
      Contact the Thrunite customer service with video and photographic evidence, and they'll get you right.

    The Two words the American language could do without and are mostly totally useless in a sentence, are the extremely annoying "GO AHEAD".
    When you become sensitised to them you will wonder why you even need to say them. It adds no meaning to a sentence. In most cases if you remove them from the sentence it makes no difference to what you are saying.
    Just a thought.
    Great demo. Keep 'em coming.
