Thank you sooooo much Debbie! I watched this video many times to familiarise myself with the confusion of lane changing and I’m absolutely delighted to say I passed my test tday with only 1 minor! 🥳 and this exact 3rd exit to datchet was my route! Thanks a bunch Debbie!
Thank you so much for this video. have just passed my driving test. Having never actually driven on this roundabout before, your video completely saved me when I was directed onto it. I just had your video/advice playing in my head! Thank you again!
These videos are great, and that roundabout, particularly with the changes involved make it one of the hardest in slough, I messed up on it last week during a lesson, but no biggie, went this same route a second time and someone taking their test behind me hadn't moved to left lane for exit, panicked and nearly swerved into me, most likely failed there and then. I find Google satellite imagery on maps and street view a good reference to check things afterwards
wow! 6 years ago there were clear demarcations of the lanes. The Slough council has not bothered to remark/paint the faded lane markings and many students fail the test because of it.
Hi, why do we need right lane for 3rd exit straight ahead? We normally choose middle lane to go straight whether 2nd or 3rd exit. As in other video, when coming from hounslow, we use middle lane for exit 3 towards slogh. I am so confused.
Hi, this roundabout is indeed confusing. The sign suggests that the third exit is straight ahead, but in fact it is about 2 o'clock (if you imagine the roundabout as a clockface). The sign on approach is actually an error in this respect. If you take the middle lane, it will lead you to the second exit, Hounslow. If you were asked on your test to follow the sign to Datchet, you should take the third lane, but if you erroneously took the middle lane, the best thing to do is to stay with it and go the wrong way towards Hounslow. You will not fail for going the wrong way, provided you do it safely, but you might fail if you try to switch lanes on the roundabout without effective observations. If you go the wrong way, the examiner will happily re-direct you. Hope that helps.
@@samnaz7796 Good idea. Just be careful you do not choose the first lane on the left, as that takes you on the motorway, and it is illegal for a learner to go on a motorway with an examiner, hence that would be a fail.
Thank you so much. Yes I will aim for only two possible exits other than M4. I will cover this roundabout in my next lesson with the instructor. But your videos are so helpful to have an idea beforehand. Thanks.
As u approach the roundabout, the middle lane sign has the straight arrow but once you enter the roundabout, the middle lane also allows you to take the first immediate exit on the left. So why the middle lane straight arrow on approach doesnt have left arrow to it so people know they all don't have to stick to the left most lane for first exit?
Jerrin Mathew This roundabout does have its ambiguities, so it is helpful to have some familiarity of it if you are taking your driving test in Slough.

@@ClubDriveUK great, I will remember this, and if forget which lane to choose I will stick to the lane and go the wrong way happily 😊

Datchet is straight on at the sign board, why don't we use the middle lane? How would we know that off the top of our heads?
Agreed. In my opinion, the sign is an error.
