Sadly because Roger comes under the Duran Duran banner, he is largely ignored, but is certainly an excellent and underrated drummer. Same goes for John Taylor the bassist, see his work on the Rio album.
It is funny all the critics back then were used to 60s and 70 s type music and did not get bands like DD.......it was a lot of guys in their mid 30 s to mid 40 s who did not have a clue and were snobs....I remember the new wave/romantic era bands of the early 80 s like Inxs and DD and they blew my mind....
They write and play all their own stuff. Thats why I like this band. Always been a fan of the band just for this reason. And they can still put bands to shame live also. Duran Duran is a great musical unit, that will be rocking for years to come for sure.
I have to smile here ... Roger is sounding so much like Nick! His tone and cadence and phrasing of how he is speaking sounds a lot like Nick's pensive, eloquent and articulate speaking voice. Apart from this ... I love Roger ... I've always been inspired how he approaches his instrument and his sensibility for music and his energy in general. He speaks through his art. Just like Neil Peart or others who inspire me. Love the Roger!

The views and feedback for this video have been amazing. It was Annie's Room that composed the music for this. Everything you hear was composed using Roger's solo drum track and then creating songs around it. Thank you for all the positive feedback. Wow what an amusement park of sounds! I'm a guitar player but always wanted to have a bass and drums to record "Music" but the full drum kit wasn't feasible, then you would have to use trigger mic's etc....but this Roland kit is amazing. I wish I could afford it! Great Video.....From a Generation X'er from the U.S. Roger Taylor Rock's! Duran Duran defined the summers of my adolescence coming of age in the 80's.LOL ...................................................L8ER
As an idea, you guys should have cymbal sound packs that were recorded from certain cymbals such as Paiste Twentys, Zildjian Custom K's, Sabian HHX, etc. That along with drum sound packs from various drum companies would be amazing.
Roger from Duran Duan is a great drummer but it would be awesome to see Roger Taylor from Queen play this Roland set and hear what he thinks about it as well.
I totally agree...Roger was always the shy one but could definitely lay down on the drums. John too is an amazing bassist. Too bad they're not handsome as well...😉🥰😆

View To A Kill amazing drums in that song. He was one of the best 80's drummers around. Very musical. Good to see he's still around!
Roger is just coolness ...

Right. I just never noticed before ... or it's more noticable here? :)
Its sad that people still think DD are a pop/girl band
They had it all, great musicians, songwriters
CaribSurfKing1 Saw them a few years back. Really good show.

Roger is one of my favorite drummers of all time. him and Steve Janson from Japan.

Nice kit and a great local drummer to me
Roger from Duran Duan is a great drummer but it would be awesome to see Roger Taylor from Queen play this Roland set and hear what he thinks about it as well.

He should have played the "hungry like the wolf" groove. With the synthy tom tom sounds

There's only so much you can do on an acoustic drum kit.
You must be at least very good if you can play in such fusion with a great bassist as John Taylor. Drums is not just about solos.
NICE!!! :)
