Have fun with your HamClock!
By the way I like the way you “burn” your SD card like a CD-RW…
I miss the 90s too man 😅
I noticed that as soon as I watched the footage. Thanks for dragging that up!!
What a great project. Thank you for the links!
Thanks! Glad you found it interesting.

I agree. Its a great piece of software. I also repurposed an old pi3 for this task. It works great on an old monitor too! Great video. 73 de John G0KTW
Cheers John. Yes, I've used hamclock off and one for a few years. For me, it works better when it runs off it's own device and a dedicated screen, as you say.
Nice addition to the shack and lots of options. 73 Chris M0RSF
Cheers Chris. It is a nice addition to our kitchen! I glance at it every time I pass and before going out on a SOTA.
Great Video and Clock ! Also have a MFJ a dual displays, dual RCVR WWVB clock with Local and UTC display ! tjl
You have more than enough toys, so don't need this!! lol
Hi Fraser,I’m very inexperienced with raspberry pi but managed to set up ham clock with an external monitor with no hassles.I like the touch screen and will be getting 1 for sure! I also like the dx cluster!! Thanks for the video 73s Chris Gm4zji
Happy to help you spend your hard earned cash on more toys!
very interesting
Cheers Nick. 😀
Nice on Fraser…
I actually bought the hamclock mini-pc but still need to get a small screen somewhere for it.
I have the SOTA cluster on mine too, although I didn’t know about this other cluster of Keith’s
always need more toys Dave!
Brilliant
Thank You!
Thanks for the video.Going to give it a try. I guess the zip file contains the OS as well as the HamClock software.
Yes, just a one hit SD card flash.
I think that for this the PI Zero particularly the V2 would be great for this and a reasonable price if you had to buy a PI!
Surely everyone has a Pi or two lying around doing nothing lol!
@@theradiorover quite a few merely you can do this for £15 or so with a new Zero so cheap even if you bought it for the purpose
Very interesting, thank you. I've got several RPIs not doing much at the moment. But is the display unique to the software or would any touch screen work?

Hi John, Any screen will work. You would just connect a mouse to the pi for setup. Once it's up and running you wouldn't need a mouse unless you wanted to change anything.
Nice one Frazer, I have a similar buying straergy sometimes it gives nice solutions like this one. The looks make it wife friendly and fun to use, like the DX cluster add on as well..Tell me are you in to space stuff too ..just wondered with the FT847 in the background
We all have kits and toys lying around, so it was nice to get this up and running in the same year that I actually bought it! I bought the ft-847 as my shack in a box radio years ago. It still serves that purpose. Sats are on the list!!
Very nice. The display is not available at this time. Thanks for sharing. 73s
Normally when I mention an item in a video it immediately goes out of stock!
Good idea about the HAM clock. I have an old Pi 2B doing nothing that I could repurpose with a cheap portable screen. I need a little portable clock or wristwatch too set to Zulu for 'OTA work. Does your GShock have dual time zone display? Forever writing down the wrong time in my logs! 73 de EI6JHB!
I have two $20 LED 24 hour wall clocks in my shack, one on local, one on UTC.
Yes, the G-Shock has that, however I generally use VK-Porta-Log so don't have to worry about time differences. Like you, I always write the wrong time down!
@stargazer7644, that's a good idea too.
Nice one, Fraser.
Who's the guy behind the telescope? Hannu Mikkola?
Ahoi
Pom
Hi Pom, It is Colin McRae, back in the Subaru days.
