Church of the Poison Mind is a jam.
Yes! That and I'll Tumble For You 💜
Oh man what a song 🎵
And the "crying game"
"Church of the Poison Mind" is the title. Real Motown feel to it
Oops....
A boy who looked like a girl was still a shock to society back then, especially the older generation..lol...Times were very different. George was a bit of a pioneer.
I used to play this cassette for my parents on long trips in the car between my mom's Barry Manilow and Lionel Richie tapes. They really loved it! They were soooo confused when I showed them a couple of his videos. 😂
Dude looked like a lady.
How is this for ironic, Millennials have accused Boy George of being trans phobic, because he wouldnt use their dedicated pronoun
@@Eskay1206 Oh dear... hahaha... But they really should stop being critical of things that they were not alive to witness themselves. As BG has said in an interview I watched, in the 80's culture club was anti everything phobic. Being gay, he said he was bullied from 6 yrs old, so as far as he is concerned, there are no pronouns. Everyone is just who they are and that is what he meant by his tweet..'.leave your pronouns at the door'. This was also a 60's thing, in my day, peace and love and 'a great big melting'pot. I loved Culture Club in the days my son's were teenagers. Their grandparents...not so much...:-)
@@jenniferjacobs228 Its sort of like telling Black Sabbath they dont understand heavy rock, or the sex pistols dont get punk. poor ignorant children. :)
People have hate for anything or anyone that is different from themselves....Boy George and Culture Club broke through those barriers.
You're so right Anthony. I used to say a lot of the people who had problems with him dressing the way he did and wearing makeup were probably just jealous because he looked so good AND could actually sing.
Yep!’ ✌️✨
@@sharonpreston4925 LMAO!!! Hahaha...lol......hahaha...Tell tha truth...Sista....you ain't never lied!!!Hahaha
@@anthonyblakely399 Nope! And it's too late to start now!!😂😂😂
@@anthonyblakely399 you know it's true though... Lol...
When my kids were younger for Halloween I dressed my oldest daughter as Boy George and the youngest as Michael Jackson. They both won first prize at school!!😂😂😂
Boy George, what a talent! Some people judge him only on his appearance & personal life. I feel that’s not my business, I’m here only for his music ability & he’s on top with that !❤️
I agree i know the bible and it said judge not least ye be judged. I love this song and boy George
He is a judge on the voice in the UK I think he is so kind and such a sweet additued.
Anita Rikard yes ma’am, we agree✌🏻
Anita Rikard I didn’t know that, I know he had some issues in the past so glad he was able to turn his life around 🤗
Past is past , he's paid his dues he's a good guy
This song was written for drummer Jon Moss who at the time was "involved" with Boy George. A lot of the songs at the time referenced their relationship, which had been pretty rocky.
😙 Most of the early songs were about Jon Moss. 😉
Oh yes, and all the teenage girls loved Boy George so much, doing their make-up like him etc. He was featured in all the pop magazines. Nobody knew about the relationship to the drummer. It would've broke many hearts.
But apart from that his soulful voice really stands the test of time. Classic!
@@flyingcloud6776 without a doubt. 😁
Yes I know all about that when I first found out I was surprised. Boy George also told them in a interview that when the relationship was over he didnt even care about Culture Club anymore.
@@EchoRider515 not just the early ones, they were on/off for years.
The pop aristocracy of the 80s, Boy George, George Michael, Sting, Mick Hucknell, Sade, Annie Lennox, Paul Young, Simon Le Bon, Tony Hadley, so many wonderful singers.
EDDIE GRANT'S ELECTRIC AVENUE
DEE LITE GROOVE IS IN THE HEART ❤ 🌺🍹🐳🍍🏖
Yes...Electric Avenue
I endorse all three
Has Jay reacted to any Spandau Ballet or Roxy Music?
"Living On The Frontline". Massive.
@@kayelle8005 Roxy Music. A wealth of material to choose from.
You will really like “TIME A CLOCK OF THE HEART” by Culture Club...That is their Best!!!!
Boy George has a great voice, and fabulous fashion sense. Love him. Thanks for the reaction.
Oh you must do Miss Me Blind and Time (Clock of the heart) Two of Culture Clubs biggest hits. I'll Tumble For You is great also.
Can't hear this song without thinking of The Wedding Singer.
Such a gorgeous song along with George’s rich voice. I’ve always loved his style and uniqueness.
Check out their song "Church of the Poison Mind' it's a fun video
Jovaugn, you have to realize, this was to 1980's. People were not used to seeing a man come out looking like that. Amazing talent. Great song.
Middle class America until they liked his music wasn't used to seeing somebody like Boy George...Like he said "I wasn't revolutionary you had Liberace" !!!!
Most pop bands wore makeup in the 80s. Even lipstick.
@@BarrySlisk Yes, they did, but Boy George was still different and striking and the time.
@@BarrySlisk yeah but to look "cuter" whilst Boy George was more like Drag
True by Spandau Ballet is a good one, and for some reason that always reminds me of Roxy Music's More Than This.
Love that song.
Brings back such 80's memories....
His voice is one of my favorites to this day. Such an underrated talent for sure. ❤
Request: Dead or Alive - You Spin Me Round. Pete Burns was a beautiful person. 💜💜💜
I spent a semester of college studying in London, and stayed in a small hotel with groups of other U.S. college students. We hung out in the basement breakfast room to study, and there was a jukebox that was broken. I was the person with the smallest wrist who could reach in and push down the levers to play songs. This song HAD to be played before any other song, so we heard it every day for months! Hearing it takes me right back to the Talbot Lawn Hotel, and the the year my life changed. I am glad you liked it, too.
What great memories....
& a great song too!! 😘
You just have to post The Crying Game. Boy George vocals are the best on this song.
Yes! Good recommendation.
I have to confess when this first came out I thought he was a pretty woman. Yes his name is Boy George and yes he sounds like a man so I was a bit confused back then. 😆
Haha! I'm laughing WITH YOU because I thought the SAME! 😅
I had that same thing with K.D. Lang when she first became known in country music. SO confused.🤷♀️
If you remember, that was the angle that MTV took to keep you guessing and for the world premier of this song on their station. Everyone had an opinion.
Lol me too
I think most people were confused, I know I was 😀 and it turned out it didn’t matter Culture Club were still huge.
"Do You Really Want To Hurt Me"
"Miss Me Blind"
"Mistake Number 3"
"I'll Tumble 4 Ya"
"Time"
"Karma Chameleon"
You missed Victims x
Oh miss me blind, saw them.live
Yes! I hope he reacts to all of those this is music from my high school years☺
@@utubnagainWell it was Jr High for me too I graduated in "89" as well. 😄
your kisses are charity
I saw him and the band play live in 2017. Even after all these years his voice still sounds as crisp and fresh as he was back in the day. Great talent.
Saw them in 2018 in Southern Oregon at The Britt. The whole crowd including me, was on their feet for a solid 2 hours! Was like teleporting me back to the 80s. They haven't missed a beat. Amazing
Gotta love Boy George ,he's such a great singer. Culture Club made some nice music.Their videos were always interesting to watch.
Boy George's voice is sublime..inlove his solo club work..especially Generations of love.
Boy George - ahead of his time!
I think decapitation is a head of its time.
@@davidcopson5800 that was a good "head" line.
@@genemaurillo4162 Heads up for that one.
@@davidcopson5800 thanks but you're the head of this response string - that's for sure.
@@genemaurillo4162 I always wanted to be Head Boy at school - but was too naughty. I managed to get ahead anyway.
I like Boy George‘s solo song very much: Everything I own. Matured, but still 100% that voice.
I suggest you react to" the corrs "great Irish band. Hello from Ireland. Listen to you every night.
👋
They are great live too..
Breathless is a great song
I was jealous when I learned Boy George was a guy, his eyes were so pretty !!!😆🤣
Lol.. I was actually offended but sillily when I had a customer years ago where I worked say to me you have Boy George eyes.. I thought she thought I looked like a Boy...I realized that that was a lovely thing that this lady said to me! He had a beautiful voice and totally pretty eyes.. great music and good times...I admit a lot of makeup was harmed in the 80s by me lol!
"the crying game" by boy george is a great song you should check out
So wonderful. 1993. At that time, I'd thought him done, but he destroyed "Crying Game" in a masterful way!!
That's my favourite and the one he done with PM Dawn ❤️
Cmon Javon Peter Gabriel “ in your eyes”
Or Don't give up with Kate Bush..
Ooooooooh now you getting real!
I so back that song 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Beth Shadid yeah it’s that CRAZY CHILLS ya get when that man sings isn’t it?? 😁 so good!
@@joesshows6793 oh yes 💗
Boy George's voice was one of the finest ever. Pure natural talent. My favourite is Victims, he shows off sublime vocal control in that track.
I agree with you
An openly sexually diverse singer rocked the music industry establishment!!!
My uncle walked in the room and saw boy george on tv and was like who's that she's kinda of cute we said that's a man and he wouldn't believe us. My older brother also named his cocker spaniel George after boy George. The 80s were definitely a fun time!
I've been a Boy George fan since 1984. 💛💚❤
So happy you have discovered this GEM!😁
Culture Clubber for life!
The man has great voice. He's one of those stars that burned too brightly and experienced what many do when fame is set upon them. A sad story but he fortunately lived through it, but he was never the same afterward.
Boy George can sing. Culture Club-Time is a good display of his soulful voice.
He broke a lot of molds… Great sound… great beat… beautiful voice… I could listen all day long…🌅🎧
This was released right before I graduated from high school. If I remember right, this was their breakout hit.
Great talent! Good to see him on the path of Recovery. He took it all the way, and survived! They would never get away with the Minstrel jury nowadays.
The first song that I discovered Culture Club . I fell in love with the band and their music. I still love them. George's voice is so soothing. Not to mention his style , he is so beautiful , even beautiful than most gals I met. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I've seen him live and he can sing! He has charisma.
George was a real revelation when he first came on the scene. No-one had every seen a man walking around with make up on, especially such beautiful makeup. He was really huge in Australia, people hung off every word he said, as he had a lot of sensible things to say, let alone be the very talented man that he is
Love Culture Club! That's the Way and Church of the Poisoned Mind are my favorites!
"Victims" by Culture Club. A haunting tune.
love love loved this song!Boy George appeared on the scene ,he was obviously "different" ,but everyone accepted him.Great voice and personality.Memories.❤
Love Boy George! Yes he was a shock to people at the time, but the girls and boys fancied him because he was so beautiful! Still is 💙🎶✊
Great song but in my humble opinion the follow-up single Time (clock of the heart) is even better.
"Suspicions" by Eddie Rabbit!
Oh how I loved this song when it came out!! I had a Culture Club poster in one corner in my room and Michael Jackson on the other!! Haha!
Great memories, cant believe how long ago it was! *sigh*
Can you react to "burning for you" by blue oyster cult please?
My favorite song by BG and CC💯🥰🎶💫👩🏼🦳 respect for Boy George ,He was unique, clothes, makeup and hair. 🥰 I was so naïve back then ,I didn’t really get his style and music but loved his music and his look. I love watching him on the voice UK👏👩🏼🦳
This is my favourite culture club song. 🎤👏🎶🇮🇪. Thank you. He has a fab voice. Bob Geldof said at the time when they were doing band aid the single. Boy George arrived from America after flying on concorde and he sang like an Angel. 🎶
No matter what Boy George was or is, we recognize amazing talents that helped to propel Culture Club to success and greatness.
A large majority of CC songs were based on Boy George's relationship with Jon Moss the drummer. Check out "Time" "Black Money" and "Victims"
The 80s was such a great decade for music and the artists seemed more free to be who they wanted to be than today. And yes his voice is amazing. Plus there was no social media or youtube or anything. So they were more mysterious. The only time you saw them was if they did the night shows while on tour or promoting a new album, or on MTV.
Love Culture Club ! His voice is so soul full and unique. Try "Victims"
Plz check out Puttin on the Ritz by Taco
Great one hit wonder!
This song was inescapable back in 1982 but it holds up quite well all these years later. It goes well with "Save It for Later" by The English Beat.
Song suggestion - "That ole devil called love" by Alison Moyet.
OH YES!!.....
She has a unique voice! 🤩
Love Resurrection is another great one by Alison Moyet.
My fave of hers is "All Cried Out".
Alf was adele, before adele was born!
That's the very unique about Culture Club, besides the incredible atraction of Boy George, they have done an extraordinary music, mixing pop, regggae, rock, soul, in a so original way, let's go with some other songs Jay!!! Time (Clock of The Heart), Miss Me Blind, I Tumble 4 Ya, Black Money, The Medal Song, It's A Miracle, I Just Wanna Be Loved, Victims, The War Song, God Thank You Woman, ans one of my absolute favourites, a brilliant b side Colour by Numbers (not included in the album of the same name)... So many great stuff here... Love them since 1983 and still listening their fantastic albums...
Great 80's group! Boy George has a fantastic voice! I especially love the reggae feel in parts of the song.
I always loved the way this beautiful man was like, ...you can try to hate me.....but I'm gonna make you love me 🥰✌🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋💞💞💞💞💞💞😘😍
This is definitely their best song. I also love "Karma Chameleon," but this one is off the hook!
I love the part, “I’m prepared to let you go”. Good song.
The War Song and all the other suggestions.....they are just a good band.....
The "WAR SONG" Video was pretty powerful !
Xoxxo Bob yep.....I agree. Saw them a few years ago and they played it. Soooo good.
Love this song... it was the first one of their songs I ever heard!!! I love that beat... sounds like they have those steel drums... love the beat of the song so much
The Wedding Singer had a lot of 80s songs
Absolutely loved culture club back in the day. Take me back to the 80"s.
His voice is so underrated...listen to Time(clock of the heart) and Love is Love.. church of the poison mind
Smooth... I love this song so much...
Boy George was a phenomena back then. Just love them!
Please do billy squier. The stroke, lonely is the night, in the dark
Yessssssss!
Omgosh YES!! In The Dark is my fave.. Emotions In Motion is great too
Duuuuude!👍
Yes! and "Everybody wants you"
...and Rock Me Tonight.
This is the song that made me fall in love with Culture Club!!! I did not know weather he was male or female! Boy George!
Anthony Blakely me too 😊 love Boy George👩🏼🦳
@@sherriparra6751 Absolutely!!! The Music Critics Boy George...Prince...and Madonna...could stand on stage and look at the crowd and people would just start SCREAMING!!! And he did that when I saw him in concert!!!! Hahaha...lol...hahaha
George has great talent and one hell of a voice.
I just tweet this to Boy George as I honestly believe he will appreciate you and your wonderful reaction to this iconic song and band. Fingers crossed he reacts/responds 🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽❤️
Following you now on instagram 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Thank you 🙏🏾
If Boy George got a lot of flack for wearing makeup, I guarantee the publicity helped, not hurt him.
I read a book about Alice Cooper recently and the manager of the band, Shep Gordon, felt that the more negative stories that came out about Alice, the better.
He knew the more the parents hated Alice, the more the kids would love him.
Shep frequently leaked negative stories to the media about Alice because he knew the bad publicity would help make the band more successful.
Shep was 100% correct.
One of the first times culture club appeared on Top of the Pops in the UK i had to convince my then 8 year old brother that Boy George was indeed a boy.
I saw them in concert a little later and Boy George was just as good live
This band saved my life when I was going through some really rough stuff in my teens.
You should totally react to "The crying game" by Boy George and also "The War Song" by Culture Club, the video for War Song is a trip, but to be fair George was addicted to cocaine & heroin when he made it.
"Time, clock of the heart" by Culture Club is an absolutely beautiful song too
It was the overuse of this song in The Wedding Singer that really had me laughing.
But I've never seen the video clip to it before, despite that I've known the song for so long, thanks for sharing it with us
Church of the Poisoned Mind & Black Money are 2 of my faves 🌻 Saw them in Dallas yyyyeeeaarrrsss ago 😃
My first taste of culture club in 80s. He really had a unique voice and his get ups....wow....but produced great songs 💗
One of my favs of theirs. Thanks. Enjoy.
I loved me some Culture Club back in the day. I thought Boy George style of dress was eccentric. #80sforlife ❤
Yeah, the 1980s and seeing how outlandish you could be, one of the most talked-about singers out there then. He was a little like Sinead O'Connor in being outspoken and pushing buttons...he wasn't afraid to make fun of things and challenge some stereotypes.
I vividly remember seeing George for the first time on our show Top of the Pops over here in the UK. I loved him straight away. I bought the single and helped get it to no 1. Bought the album too-full of great songs.
Culture Club and several British artists were part of the 2nd British Invasion.
"Victims" by Culture Club is a haunting song. "Church of the Poisoned Mind" features Helen Ready (I think!) who will blow your mind. Xx
Close! The back up singer here was Helen Terry. Helen Reddy’s was most well known for her song “I am woman” in the 70’s ✌️
DON'T TAKE MY MIND ON A TRIP🎵🎵🎼🎼🎶😉😉.. THAT'S DJ BOY GEORGE 🥰🥰🥰
Not properly listened to this song before......With 'fresh ears' - -
He has a lovely voice....It's a GOOD song! ❤️
Ha! Boy George is awesome. Always liked him. Ive seen him interviewed and he has an awesome sense of humor. His songs are so catchy. His voice is fantastic!
"Miss Me Blind" is the jam.
One of the first songs(and Eddy Grant) I can remember.
I was only 3 years of age when this came out but my mom had this on repeat.
Who wouldn't like this GEM!!
Boy George’s voice is STILL on point! Culture Club came to my city in 2018 with The B-52s. Both these groups still got it. I was transported to the 80s after the first note.
80 fan and this band one of my child hood mem ..great band
Time (Clock of the Heart)!!! Church of the Poison Mind! Love is Love! Victims!!! It's A Miracle! Miss Me Blind!!! The War Song! Move Away!!!
buenas! gracias por compartir! excelente sonido! excelente banda culture club! lo mejor desde argentina!
Please React to "Time"; "Church of A Poison Mind"; "Miss Me Blind"; "I'll Tumble 4 Ya" by Boy George.
Boy George back then looks just like the actress that plays Sansa Stark in game of thrones
Great calypso groove!
His appearance isn’t a big deal now, but in 1984, wow.
Try Miss Me Blind!
