    Beautiful plane and a well-presented 'introduction' to the Eurofox (known as an Aerotrek A240 in the States). I believe the level of sophistication available with light sport aircraft is underestimated, especially with the glass cockpit options, low stall speeds, and the reliability of the Rotax engine. Planes like yours are as capable and fun as the more expensive Cessnas.

      That’s very kind of you to say 🙏🏻
      I agree, these light sports aircraft are making aviation accessible, safer & more comfortable for a fraction of the price of ‘standard’ general aviation aircraft 🥳

    Some people comment that being a retired headteacher means I can ‘talk for England’ but I think we all have times when we feel awkward addressing the camera directly. You do not need to worry Geoffrey your intro was perfectly fine and the video interesting and informative. You have a very nice machine that you obviously gave a lot of thought to at the ordering stage. I look forward to the time when I can have a closer look at it. 👍😎

      Thanks for the encouragement Tim 😊 I’m not sure I’ll be doing much ‘Vlogging’ as I prefer the flying & activity based filming more, but I’d had so many messages (relatively speaking) asking for a closer view of the aircraft that I bowed to the demands 😄!

    I think there probably comes a moment in every 'UA-camr's career' when it's necessary to begin addressing viewers directly. It's one of the many reasons why I've shied away from making videos! That was an awesome walkthrough. The only improvement would have the base price and the price as you specced it, but I completely understand you not wanting to be too specific. The EuroFOX website seems to be coy regarding prices. Some manufacturers are very open about pricing, others aren't. I don't see what they have to lose by making the prices public, but they must have their reasons, I guess.

    You mentioned that you have ADS-B in the Eurofox. How is the ADS-B capabilities from Dynon in Europe? Is it only ADS-B in and do you get any UAT capabilities in UK? I seem to recall that there are some UAT trials over there?

    • @FlyingDarkLord
      @FlyingDarkLord  2 роки тому +1

      Good question… the weather does not work at all!!! Worse still when turned on the map is all red which interferes with reading so obviously I never have it turned on. The aircraft conspicuity is nice & gives me the position, direction, altitude & tail number of traffic & also grades the threat to you based on those factors. I must admit that I’ve not explored all UAT features & might do that the next time I fly! 😊👍🏼

    Hi Geoff, out of curiosity, how safe is the one bolt to keep the wings extended? Is it a risky point of failure? Is it checked every annual? Do you have to do it up tight? Just found it interesting that one bolt seems to hold the wing in place. Cheers!

    • @FlyingDarkLord
      @FlyingDarkLord  2 роки тому +1

      If you think about it, it’s not just one bolt, it’s actually 3 bolts, but removing one allows you to swing the wing back.
      Also we check our bolts every time we the aircraft, whereas the pilot of an aircraft without folding wings probably never checks whether their wing bolts are secure 🤷🏻‍♂️
      The nuts are only done up finger tight as they are castle nuts that are also secured with a split pin. Even if the nut did fall off the bolt is positioned such as they passively remain in position without the nut having to be present.
      When you get your head around it, it’s fine, but I know what you mean 😄👍🏼

    Good explanation of how your Eurofox unfolds into flying mode and why you chose the tricycle gear over trail dragger. Perhaps an odd question: how off grid can you land compared to a tail dragger?

    • @FlyingDarkLord
      @FlyingDarkLord  Рік тому +1

      That’s a good question! In the UK we mostly fly from grass or tarmac strips. I operate out of a farm & cope just fine with the setup I have. If, however, you will be flying into areas where there may be large (hidden) objects or very rough terrain then you will need much larger diameter wheels running lower compression tyres. This will prevent the use of wheel spats/pants. In these situations you would be better served by a taildragger with a modified undercarriage & suspension/damper setup. As you may have seen from some of my other videos, I’ve landed on some rough strips & never had an issue yet 🤞🏼😊👍🏼

    • @ronshillum4897
      @ronshillum4897 Рік тому +1

      Thank you for your very thoughtful feedback. Without the wheel pants would larger lower pressure tires give you the flexibility to land safely on rougher terrain? Any you might have met who is doing this? We learn a lot from the shared experience of aviators like you. You were one of the first UA-cam channels that I subscribed to… giving us straightforward explanations of how you are using the EuroFOX. Thanks for your postings.

    • @FlyingDarkLord
      @FlyingDarkLord  Рік тому +1

      @@ronshillum4897 You are very kind 🙏🏻
      A few EuroFOX owners I’ve met have chosen taildragger formats with Tundra tyres, but as far as I’m aware most EuroFOX owners in the UK don’t really land on surfaces that are similar to those you might find on the Sandbanks or Desert basins you see in videos of pilots from other countries.
      If I lived in America & was landing ‘off strip’ I’d definitely favour a taildragger with big tyres over the tricycle arrangement. But for me, in England, the tricycle arrangement better meets my needs 😊👍🏼

    Thank you very much. You have a beautiful plane and thanks for the panel walk thru. I would buy the Eurofox/Aerotrek if we could get your panel options in the States. Our options are all steam gages and a clunky EFIS. Price point stuff and hard heads here. The Aeroprakt is very similar to the Eurofox and Kitfox, with a little more aluminum and glass panel options. With the crisis in the Ukraine, that option has slipped away.
